Young Bailey Does His Tricks
Просмотров 5010 лет назад
About 14 1/2 years ago Bailey was just a young pup that had more energy than he could handle. This is how smart he was at 6 months or so... and how wild he could be to get a treat.
Joe Montgomery's Last Roll

I found one last roll of 8mm film from the 70's. Sorry. Like the other, it is mostly blackness interupted by moments of nostalgia. It was very short so I posted it here in slow motion so that you might be able to pick out faces easier. The cast of stars; a shadowy Anita Nolan, Barbara Griffith, Ann Harpole, Calvin!!??, Lex, Lane, Becky, etc. The music is 70's era Pete Polsgrove / Joe Montgomery.
1973 Norman Oklahoma

This is some old 8mm film I shot back in 1973ish. Mostly bandmates from the band Valhalla, old friends and way too much footage of where I worked at the time (Girlie Pancake House). Really random and boring but it does include Bob Evatt, Randy Brewer, Kerry Keim, Lane Steele, John Coley, Janet Fryberger (and her dog... and a frame of her mom), Carol Newsome, Popeye, Airplane, Pete Polsgrove and...
I played in a rock band at the Purple Onion in Norman circa 1973-1974. The owner collected Hudson automobiles, and we hit it off because I drove one around town. Often wondered what happened to that club and the owner. His name was K Denton, as I recall.
I was 1 year old in 1973. Norman born and bred.👍
I graduated from Norman High in 1972. What a fun town to grow up in! A great era in history, too! I lived at 428 W. Himes st. We could hear the band on game days from there.
Looking for Lane. Does anyone have contact info for him? This is Scott. I'm one of the "long-hairs" in this cool film : )
I think anything I post here is public. Email me at joemontgomery1@gmail.com and I will give you the most up to date email I have... though I never got a response when I emailed him back in January. joe
Thanks so much for the video - brings back a lot of memories. I attended NHS 1973 -1974 (only), and worked at Girlie Pancake House on Lindsey after graduation. Yes, Brenda Laney was the manager; Terri Johnson (I think) was night manager; cooks I recall were Mir and Paul Zizzo. Joe, I think I might have known you - did your band rehearse in a house near the east end of Garver (near Pickard)?
I was there at that time in grad school. Memories!
Oh one more Norman memory. When my parents were looking for a house to buy everyone would say. Don't move to Moore! They get ALL the tornadoes. Darn that's held for 40 years now.
I think that's the year my fam moved from NJ to Norman. I loved that little town. I did what today would be called child labor at Cosmo's Bakery in the Hollywood Shopping Center near the Safeway and of course Larry's Hobby Store. Watched the "Planet of the Apes", "Bambi", "Dumbo", and of course "The Sound of Music", all at the Hollywood Theater across the street. I can't remember if the last movie I saw there was "Stripes" or "Firefox".
I love this. Watched it so many times now. Thanks for putting it up!
Touching.
I loooooove this! & Girlie Pancakes :)
Good to see this old clip, of the Girlies, I was manager there in 1984 til it closed down in 1987
Beautiful video!
that's great that you guys reunited on youtube.. was curious if you guys met IRL and caught up. This video is a piece of history. I'm from OKC though, but I can recognize the value. Please ensure that this is well preserved. Put it in a USB drive, and put that USB in a suitcase that is protected by lead (EMP protection).. it'll stay preserved for future generations.
I miss Lane too, this vid really brought back some great memories of, well, everyone in the vid. But I don't know who 55sucitta is so if you know, let me know... Peace
who are you?
Kids sure were much thinner prior to the onset of high fructose corn syrup and all the processed food we eat nowadays.
i can’t believe this is the one and only comment on this video from anybody
not the same
I'm the skinny, long-haired Californian from 2:45-2:54...I miss Lane.
@bobnighthawk I agree! It was a wonderful place and a magical time. Was it you who supplied the radio that played in Girlie's kitchen? What a supreme privilege it was to listen to the Dr. Demento Show at work. Thank you so much for jogging my memory.
I worked at Girlie Pancake in 1973-74, dishwasher, graveyard shift. Had a crush on the waitress in the black '59 Chev, can't recall her name, now. We would go down to the Canadian River after work to drink beer. Brenda Laney was manager, never gave me a hard time. The cook was an arab guy, I think his name was Mir. Don't remember you, Joe, what was your job?
Hippies!
from the younger generation of normanites, I loved this and it was very inspiring to think people like me have been here before and enjoyed the same type of memories I am making now.
nice views of the ol Girlie Pancake House! I was the manager there in the mid 80's till it closed in 1987! thanks for posting this! John
