I always loved Javier’s decent into chaos. I always saw him as a good man in a vulnerable situation that caused him to blindly follow the man who saved him and stood up for all of his ideals. Javier was always supposed to be the villain. But instead of the Micah approach: a man who was never loyal and only in it for himself, or Dutch: a man with crooked morality who was able to sweet talk his way out of trouble. Javier was a good and loyal guy, who wanted to survive, and he stood with the wrong people for selfish reasons because of that. Javier was “on the wrong side of history”. But I think that’s what makes his character so complex. A good man, a brother to everyone, who couldn’t look past his idolization and was scared to die. I think that was his character. And I’m very glad for Sloyers fight to add a tad more humanity in him even though Javier’s fate was sealed since the release

RECONSIDERING SOME STUFF ABOUT THE VIDEO: After I rewatched the video listening to myself (as if I was an average viewer), I wanted to reconsider some stuff I said- 1. I understand why people never talk about the "Fishing-Javier" interaction. It's nothing much... Sure, Javier and Arthur spared the stagecoach just because there was women and children in there, and that was it. I know I said it was because Javier got reminded of his loved ones in Mexico, but never mentioning his mother or sister in the video, which I completely forgot to... (my apologies) But still, you can see that Javier cared about the women and the children when this interaction happened, but then in chapter 6 (the chapter he falls apart), he barely cared about John and his family (Abigail and Jack). It's sad to see his character becoming like this... 2. I was wrong when I told that Javier was kind (but then corrected myself in the video saying "passionate"), when no one in the gang is kind at all. Javier is loyal, sure, but it doesn't mean he's kind... I tell in the my conclusion that he's a dangerous man, so the writing there in chapter 6 was written in a wrong way in that part...
