Kramer Focus VT 211S Full Electronics Swap
Просмотров 4488 месяцев назад
I did a full electronics swap on my Kramer Focus VT 211S. I basically turned it into a superstrat by changing the pickup configuration. I also added a four way pickup selector and push pull pots for some creative wiring. I also added a kill switch for good measure. If you're interested in checking out my review video or just want to know what it sound like originally, click here: ruclips.net/vi...

Kmise Vintage Phase Pedal Review and Demo

I check out the Kmise Vintage Phaser. A $22 dollar phaser pedal I found on Amazon. I've been having a lot of fun checking out these cheap Amazon pedals. If there are any you want me to check out, let me know in the comments. If you're interested in checking one out for yourself, you can click here: a.co/d/fwmyR5Z If you need a 9-volt power supply to operate it, I like to use this one: a.co/d/9d...

Does changing your tremelo block make a difference?
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.Год назад
In this video I look at changing the tremelo block in my Kramer Baretta Special, and find out if it makes a difference what type of block you have in the guitar. Here is a link for the block I used. Keep in mind, these blocks are not one size fits all, so make sure you take careful measurements to make sure the block you order will fit. Squier 40th Anniversary Gold Edition Stratocaster Unboxing and First Impressions

I unbox one of the Squier 40th anniversary guitars. I won't be doing a full review on this one sine these were only in production for 2022, but I thought it would still be fun to do the unboxing and give my first impressions.

Upgrading My Squier Bullet Telecaster
what does it actually weigh?
Mine weighs 6 and 1/2 lbs.
Nice video! Great demo
And I agree, phaser and univibe are better before drive
Thanks! Glad you like the video.
One thing about the MK is that like the Yamaha they really give a lot of guitar for the money.. Especially the Korean made ones like the Patriots.. This model seems like an excellent alternative and definitely as good as a Fender Thinline..
It definitely is a great guitar and punches well above its weight.
Where did you source the pickguard? I bought a tort guard for my Affinity Tele Deluxe and it doesn’t line up with the cavity or screw holes. I’m reluctant to keep buying more if none will fit
Here's a link to the actual pickguard I used: Musiclily Pro 15 Holes Covered HH... www.amazon.com/dp/B09NVSF7HR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share It's a Musiclily Pickguard that I got on Amazon. As I mentioned in the video,I did have to widen the opening for the bridge and drill new holes in the body to get it to work, but openings for the pickups fit standard sized humbuckers like what the affinities come with. As opposed to the wide range humbuckers that come on the Classic Vibes and Fenders.
The 59 has a 4 way switch an the 58 has a 3 way with push pull knobs for single coil humbucker
Yeah the newer 2024 version of the 59 does come with a 4 way switch.
I've got a MK Hybrid Special and it's so good I'm going to get rid of all my other guitars except for my amazing Matons.
Nice! Yeah Michael Kelly makes some really good guitars.
I wish we coulda hear it with more notes instead of the punchy chord. It makes it sound more like an echo pedal
Just bought the natural finish one for a girl that wants to really learn how to play guitar and it's lighter than a solid body. I own a MK Pinnacle 5 string bass. Hard to beat in price range.
Awesome! It is an impressive guitar for its price.
Thanks for the demo. I’ve had 2 of those zinc blocks fall apart so it is actually very common.
Yeah. The brass block is definitely a much sturdier part than the thin little zinc block that was originally in the guitar.
Eager to see that hot rod Kramer focus vt-211s in action! Nice work
Thanks! I really appreciate that!
I have this guitar 🎸 bought it from shawn and his wife from, Scarred guitars unmodded with the chunk taken out of body. He reviewed it on his page, Scar my guitar. His wife has channel, Scar my pickups. Hope to see more soon from you.
This sounds great, Andrew! Great guitar as well.
Thanks!
I have a MK tele and it’s one of my favorites guitars among 2 LP standards, 2 PRS, and 2 Strats/teles.
Awesome! Yeah. They make great guitars.
I love my MK patriot decree.
Yeah. The patriots are cool guitars. I'll probably check one of those out in the future.
That’s really nice looking
Yeah. It's really nice guitar.
i love those cheap invader pickups they sound amazing. was wishing for more content of you actually putting the pieces together
Yeah. Eventually I'd like to get a setup where I can actually film these mods being done. Glad you like the pickups. They really do sound awesome.
I got the same guitar in pink coral to do the same exact thing, but I'm a newbie and look for vids like this. Couple others out there on this guitar, but not nearly as involved. Beautiful job
Thanks! I appteciate that.
Go back and listen through high quality headphones. You’ll hear a fantastically beautiful difference in the clean and crunch tones.
I might have to do that. There have been other people that have commented that they hear a difference also.
Here's the problem, the differences are so subtle that it's really not worth the money. People won't notice it when you're gigging, you're not going to notice it when you're recording. I guess what I'm trying to say is, it's not a revolutionary change sound.
Nice review and playing! With the guitar being semi-hollow & chambered body what do you think the weight is?
Thanks! I appreciate that. It's a fairly light guitar. I've actually weighed mine, and it comes out to about six and a half pounds. I can't say how consistent they are when it comes to weight, but I would imagine there isn't much variance in the weight between mine and other '59 thinlines.
Thx!
If I change the block to brass I tend to do the saddles to brass too, I think it's more the sustain that's affected than tone, should of done some harmonics and timed length of ring out
Probably. I've heard changing the saddles brass will brighten the tone, but I've never tried it myself.
@@andylewis_guitardad9028 made a parts caster and a couple of other guitars and if I'm not mistaken musically do the saddles as well and at a decent price, but be aware if you do check and double check the sizes to your own saddle, then enjoy re-intonating, even if it doesn't change the tone aesthetically there sweet looking 😁😁😁😁
great review and great playing thank you just bought the guitar for my studio work
Thanks! I appreciate that.
How does it sound recorded in your studio?
Unfortunately, I don't have a studio I can record in. I've only heard how it sounds coming out of my amp.
@andylewis_guitardad9028 sorry, I for got to tag the commenter I was responding to. He said he had bought it for studio work. But anyway, thank for the vid I had never heard of these
Great review, thanks Andy!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.
I bought a used 2021 version for 175 bucks . I really like it Sounds great and plays great
Awesome! It's a great guitar for the price.
promo sm
Sounds real nice, thanks for the review and demo.
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Thanks for including the clean tones since most reviewers forget that not everyone plays with distortion. I like that it might not weigh too much. My MIM Stratocaster feels so heavy that I have to play it sitting down at church, I was born in the early 60’s. I’m amazed that you recorded 20 minutes without doing heavy editing, I would have forgotten almost everything I was going to say 😅
Thanks! It is a very light guitar. Much lighter than my 40th Anniversary Strat. I'm not usually concerned too much about weight since I mostly play sitting down, but it is nice to be able to pick up a guitar that doesn't feel like a boat anchor sometimes.
❤
One thing that I forgot to mention in the video is the neck carve is a modern c-shape. Also, throughout the video I refer to the version I have as the 2023 version, but I believe this version was also available prior to 2023.
Do,you still have this guitar And do you have Instagram?
Yes I do still have the guitar. It's a great guitar, and I don't plan on getting rid of it any time soon. My instragram is andy.lewis_guitardad. I don't post to it too often, but every once in a while I will putting something on there.
@@andylewis_guitardad9028 I’m glad you do still have it
My brother that guitar sounds much stronger and fuller than that original block I will however say get a pro setup and you’ll have yourself a guitar you’ll never put down
Old vs New Clean 3:39 \ 7:41 ( Brass is more full and has bass on all tests) Crunch 3:56\ 8:02 Distortion 4:11\ 8:22 Sustain 4:36\ 9:00( ehh negligible )
Please see my comment. 😊
Sounds good man! Think you just convinced me to grab this one. Thanks for the vid 👍
Awesome! I'm glad you liked the video.
best answer I could hope for on here! Thanks
this or the sun valley exotic wood? what is the best for the money between those two?
I haven't played the Sun Valley Exotic, so I can't speak for its build quality. But looking at features and specs, I would say they are about the same. The Reaper 6 FRS is $50 less and you get the sustainiac, but the Sun Valley Exotic comes with stainless steel frets, grover tuners, and a 12"-16" compound radius fretboard. All of those could be considered upgrades compared to the Reaper's generic Schecter branded tuners, nickel frets, and a straight 16" fretboard. So it really does boil down to if any of those features are important to you or not.
Btw love the strat. I believe that's a classic vibe? Dig the oversized headstock and unique details like bound neck and gold pickguard.
Thanks! It's actually a 40th Anniversary Gold edition. It's a really good guitar. I'll end up keeping it forever, and the giant 1970's headstock it has is also one mu favorite things about its appearance.
Thanks for the demo. I subbed bc I'm also a dad who plays a strat and wears Pink Floyd T-shirts. And also recently grabbed this pedal.
Thanksa. I really appreciate that.
Awww yes! ❤❤
Best review I've seen on this pedal... Your channels like mine , some cool videos but not enough subscribers & viewers. Keep up the good work, good luck and Happy Holidays
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it. You have a Happy Holidays as well.
Haha awesome. Great vid just what i was looking for. I got the same guitar and same wilkinson pickups. You wouldnt know where I could get a bone nut? ( or any replacement nut) Also, do you know of any tuners beside hipshot that will drop in? Thanks!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the video. I buy a lot of parts on Amazon. I know Musiclily sells bone nuts on there, and you can get Graphtech nuts on there too. As far as the tuners, the only other tuners that I know will drop right in are Graphtech Ratio Tuners which can get pretty expensive. I know Musiclily makes two pin style tuners, but their listing says they are made to be a Fender replacement. So they likely won't just drop in since the Fender and Squier tuners are not interchangeable.
@@andylewis_guitardad9028 i had some wilkinson that fit in my affinity tele, but they wont fit the bullet tele. I am going to check out the hipshots. Thanks for the reply.
Thanks for this awesome review.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.
billy deserves to be in the hall of fame
Truer words have never been spoken.
I recently bought 1one.frets where deadly, rub a paper towel up and down, shredded paper was snowing down.took the neck off filed and sanded the ends, metal sanded a little too easy, casting doubt on how long before fret ruts, then removed gear covers, and greased them lightly.tuners turn nicely now, there also a minor problem with big E string having to be top wound,as it was not clearing where it should be descending after the nut.i have quite a few guitars and not new to fret sprout.it plays fine now, frets where level, lowered action without buzzing problems.adjust pick up height and get a decent sound from it.mine is the red one same model.also did not have any problem adjusting tremolo ,loosened 2 main screws, got it one step from floating.seen many reveiws saying no fret sprout, nice to see, some one give a honest reveiw,,maybe some have no issues with sprout.i was very impressed with a epiphone special 1,frets,they where the nicest frets i have seen in under 350$ cdn range.but many brands have'nt tried.decided to give gibson offshoots a try after half a dozen squiers
Nice! Yeah, if it wasn't for the sharp fret ends, the fret work would have been nice. The frets on mine were also level, and I was able to dial the action down fairly low with no buzzing. I ended doing the same thing with the screws in the back at the trem claw after I shot the video. They were originally bottomed out against the body. The screws in the back of my Kramer Baretta Special were the same way.
I DO have one (that exact one), and I LOVE it. Came ready to play---I did have to make pickup height adjustments and intonation adjustments on 2 strings (that's all personal choice). I was pleasantly surprised (in Iowa where weather varies, and wood don't adjust)) that I had to do NOTHING to the frets. No sprout, no sharp edges...none of that. Such a great guitar build I'm blow away. And you ain't wrong---this thing sounds spectacular.
Awesome!. It's a great guitar.
One thing I forgot to mention is the guitar comes in several color options. Kramer calla this particular color pewter grey.
Nice guitar....lonely is the night
Thanks!
Least he was playing it correctly. You have earned the pass Music Brethren. And with no B.S. additives i might add. I'm giving you a well Done Sir. To much B.S. videos on the web these days...good job Sir.
Thanks! I really appreciate that.
I saw him on Emotions in Motion tour! They were Easily one of the Greatest sounding bands I ever heard in my Cities 10,000 seater hockey arena!!🤯This show proved to me that many other bands didn't put in the money and or the time to dial in great sound!!
I agree All Night long is my favorite
Who doesn't love Billy Squier !?
Yeah buddy 💯, I love Billy squier 🎸
Hey, thanks for the video. But is that switch NC or NO?
It is a normally open momentary switch.
