Harpin on...Ireland's carrying strategy
I did not listen to Off the Ball to hear Ross being slated. I heard it right here in the last episode. I agree with the man who said slated him too. Good show lads. Enjoy the insights.
Cheers man that's a good point well made we try to have different opinions and for the RB question has divided opinion among Leinster fans.
"A zero point loss" 🤣🤣🤣 You harpin' clowns never cease to amaze!
You're welcome on the show any time to show us how it's done 👍
Tottenham was great stadium, was in premium - no problem with food, beer, Seven sisters underground was 5 km away, overland train to and from Liverpool street 👌
Look lads if it were an amateur GAA team Leo Cullen would be after getting the chop by now... There are absolutely no excuses ! Time, money, players, staff he's had it all 🤷♂️
" i cant remenber Toulouse playing well." at 8 (Mark Jackson). What an ignorant and bias statement!!
I put a lot of the blame on Cullen for not giving Frawley a chance early in the season. He was much more of a threat in the minuets he was on the field.
I think if Frawley had played more time at ten over the last few seasons he would have been a legitimate alternative to Jack Crowley in the Irish set up. Munster backed Crowley and he got the exposure he needed.
I'd wonder are the players getting too much discretion, Byrne should have been hooked off before that kick and where was the message to have some respect and take the points when on offer.
Hugo Keenan played against Ulster week before final ! First time he has ever played in ravenhill ! First team not allowed to play away from home if there a chance they could lose ! Oh we lost because it was the b team
Why can’t you see ! Play your best team in the final ! What about the games leading up to the final! You have to play week after week to be ready for the big games! Oh they played ospreys couple weeks before the final! Last 3 years same thing
Leinster haven’t been put under pressure all year La Rochelle where lucky to get out of there group Northampton didn’t turn up on the day ! First team not allowed to play in south Africa! We’re under no pressure all year! Weren’t battle hardened! Munster would get 3 players on the Leinster team! But I think they would have beaten Toulouse! But then again they can leave home and fight
Leinsters attack has gone to mush since neinbars arrival..leaving JDF Conan and Ryan your best ball carriers on the bench was madness...leinster need to buy in a quality 10.
So the scape goat is Ross Byrne, even though most of the Leinster pack were average at best, aside from at scrumtime. You 3 are bigging up Frawley while forgetting that he was the 10 on the pitch when Toulouse pulled away in extra time. And yes, Lowe got carded but Toulouse lost a player too. NO Leinster player excelled at the weekend. Not one. Saying Byrne was 'rubbish' is cack analysis.
Thanks for the comment. If the video were labelled 'Harpin on....Leinster’s scapegoat" then your own analysis of it would be spot on. But it's clearly labelled as a clip, focusing on Leinster's game management, from a full pod where we look at all aspects of the match. That doesn't mean we fully agreed with your take, just that you've missed the fact that you didn't fully get ours.
@@HarpinOnRugbyYT I listened to all of your 'insight' and the vast majority of it was criticising one player. If you call Byrnes performance 'rubbish', which is what one of you did, then you're going to get called out for being a terrible analyst. Not even 1 Leinster player stood out at the weekend. Doris was probably the best of the forwards but giving away that stupid penalty at the breakdown towards the end was unforgiveable. The ref clearly said hands off and he didn't listen. Where was the 'enforcer' McCarthy? Where was Bairds athleticism? Where was the huge impact the bench was supposed to offer? From a forwards perspective, the only positive was the scrum. When the WHOLE team don't perform collectively, putting the vast majority of the blame on Byrne is scape goating at its finest. He nailed his kicks. The center partnership outside him are average. Larmour is average too (despite his recent decent performances). Keenan did nothing in attack. The main issue here is that most of these Leinster players aren't as match fit and battle hardened as they should be. The strategy of resting players for 3 weeks before these games is a bad one but the Leinster management didn't learn anything from previous years. That was the main issue, not Byrnes performance.
@@PB22559 not arguing with any of your points on the match. Just that you once again are ignoring the fact that the video is a CLIP from an hour long pod where we went over pretty much everything you discuss. Call it out as bad analysis if you want but as far as I'm concerned the video stays on point when it comes to the title.
@@HarpinOnRugbyYT Calling one player 'rubbish' is scape goating considering NONE of Leinsters forwards and backs performed well. Leinsters below par performance wasn't Byrnes fault. Again, Leinster lost the game when Frawley was at 10, not Byrne. I didn't hear any of you mention that crucial fact. I'm saying all of this and I'm not even a huge fan of Byrne but scape goating isn't good analysis by any stretch of the imagination.
Who missed two drops at goals? RB wasn’t the reason we lost. I agree RB appeared to have a niggle injury or picked up a bang early on. He was limping for a while.
Funny, when Sexton landed that last second match-winning drop goals a few years ago in Paris, I don’t remember so many Irishmen endlessly chanting the « fine margins » mantra or insisting on the « different conversation » if he had missed😂
You obviously weren't paying attention then I guess, we were all saying it 🤷♂️
What? You're just making stuff up now!!
@@stephendoherty981 When you have learnt to read, you might just notice i wrote "I don't remember"
Well, then, fair enough
the focus (obsession ?) on La Rochelle was negative. La Rochelle is average this year. Jeff is right. The final two were different and superior
It is understandable, giving who La Rochelle coach is. You are right , only 5th in Top 14 now. Also if Leinster coaching team believed their Toulouse counterparts had not devised the way to perform in this match, it was negative too.
It seems mad to me that Frawley is the backup 10 in the biggest game of the year, but gets little or no playing time at 10. Ross Byrne is no treat running with the ball. I can't understand why Frawley isn't getting more time at 10 during the year. For me Leo and Co. have made up their minds that the Byrnes are better and given Frawley no chance to perform in a match as big as this. Madness, Leo needs to have a serous look at his role in leaving Ross on the field as long as he did.
Great stuff guys
10 is Leinster's problem...not so confident for Saturday
He has a knack at missing big kicks at momentum shifting moments. Northampton into the hill a perfect example
sorry to say, not so optimistic. ST gonna be a really hard nut to crack and in the URC, Bulls and Mun have too much momenten at the moment. More frontline players shoulda played against ULS.
Joe McCarthy has not played since the Northampton game. Is he carrying a knock? Same with James Lowe.
I'd expect Connors to be on full McCloskey watch all day. Probably the making and breaking of the game right there.
Frawley every day of the week. Has been messed around by Leinster for the past 3 years, if he had been given the same time at 10 that Ross and Harry Byrne have been given he would be competing with Crowley full on for the Irish 10 now. Have been watching him from the time he made his debut and the chap is class.
good stuff lads. one of the only rugby podcasts that skips the annoying bants and gets straight to the point. cheers lads.
Very good analysis on Byrne v Frawley, I think Frawley should have been given a lot more time at 10, Prendergast is no doubt the future, if, he can bulk up without losing his agility.
Leinster don’t learn from there mistakes! They will play there b or c team next week against ulster! They will get to final again undercooked! Most of the players will have only played two games in 5 weeks
The lads never mentioned Ross Byrne. Unless Ross can pick up his game how can he be a starter? A chain is only as good as its weakest link.
Seriously worry about our ability to close out big games
The start of the Northamptons resurgence came from Ross missing a penalty. Does he have the consistent temperament for that level
He doesn't have consistency or any tricks either, he's just an average player, not good enough to be Leinster starting 10.
It's funny how quickly people turn. Everyone was singing Ross praises a few weeks ago. People forget that he was judged the best player on the field against La Rochelle.
Too much Rancor 😅🤌
Definitely a red. Even if the only player he endangered was himself . Ref made the call with his heart and not with the rules
I really don't think people care wether home or away finish. You play the same over the tournament
Cardiff were hard done by against Ulster, ospreys with 20 injuries earlier in the season, and the loss of Jac Morgan and Dewi lake, have done well.
It is a flaw in the URC in my opinion not that Leinister have to play each province twice but really that Connacht, who are the minnows have to play each other more vastly funded province twice (demographics do play a part there so part of it is just down to that no question as Connacht struggle to get 5k at games...part isnt tho) while Glasgow play Zebre twice for example. Connacht making the top 8 in spite of that flawed structure is a miracle to me. I think Conor should try being a Connacht supporter for 5 minutes!! 😂 Fair play to Jeff for stepping in there as I was enjoying the podcast but i found Conor's point being annoyed that Glasgow play Zebre twice in a row quite laughable as someone who is both a Connacht and Leinster fan (we do exist in the shadows 😂)
Also there's the financial flip side of that perceived unfairness; playing provinces in those extra three matches obviously a much bigger draw than most of the other teams in the league. I think Conor's point wasn't so much that he was annoyed that Glasgow play Zebre twice, rather that if it were Leinster with that run-in there would be more people pointing it out, so if anyone is going to do it, it might as well be us!!! 😜
Hope he about next week to tell us what went wrong
Feature match Leinster lions what the fuck ! It Munster bulls ! Bulls going for top spot
(it's a Leinster podcast)
Casey a great player! Does he actually know anything about rugby
Connacht not Connad , Jesus
Keego gave up dying his beard with shoe polish finally 😂
Leinster travel to Johannesburg this Tuesday, play Lions next Saturday, fly to Cape Town to play the Bulls a week later then fly back to Dublin to play the Northampton the following Sat. What team will they send to SA I wonder
The Team will be B/C team mix.
La Rochelle Abu Again the boys in blue
I just hope if Leinster win they are up for the rest..
Lads love your channel.come on lenster blue 💙 all the way.
You might need to change the Bulls to Leicester on the footer early in the pod guys
Doh! Serious graphics fail. 😂
I heard Osborne has indicated his wish to play for France...
That's a red card gentlemen, high tackle on the head. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦. The try from Arendse that was disallowed. Some calls were suspicious from the ref😊😊😊
Good harping on, will find out today if total systematic rugby can be found out by passion and the home factor, too close to call, nervous for Ireland 😂
Thanks a lot! Great stuff and very informing with lots of knowledge! If you don’t mind me saying. I think if you did better tumb nails it would sky rocket the views! Love from a Munster man 💚
Always a pleasure to get the invite Jeff !
How about, your only allowed 3 kicks each in a kicking battle, and on the third kick all the players are onside. That'll make the kicker to carry the ball and run with it on the third 1. Also france scored a try against Ireland, whete we didn't see the grounding, and looked like the pkayer list control of it and knocked it on, but was given it. The officials need more consistency. Like in Ireland v Italy at least 3 blatanted knock one, and no penalty or yellow.
The back row needs to raise their game with our new captain walking about. I just hope he plays like wants a new contract. Im just not sentimental best days long behind him and better players ahead but if he can pull out a Mun V Toulouse or NZ first test I'll be happy.
Sweet jesus-145 Kilo!! 33-year-old Taofifenua (6′ 8″, 135kg) ill so the French are replacing him with the uncapped 19yr old Tuilagi(6′ 4 ½”, 145kg) who was a wrecking ball in the U20's last year.
