    The CTB26 still doesn't have the strap keeper in 2024 🤦 this thing makes me so upset. I'm a 5'7 man, walking with long belt around my not-so-tall body frame makes me looks like a turtle. So I was looking for a fresh 26L bag alternative (because of the bag obsession) as a companion for weekends, gym and maybe other things (I already use Alpaka Metro Backpack as EDC for work) and this Max EDC looks incredible.

      Hehe yes - I totally feel you on the CTB26… not as flattering for us not-so-talls (and the lack of strap keepers is a bit puzzling). The Max EDC is my fav 26L bag, def recommend it.

It is removable, and there is another, identical little orange loop in the large front stash pocket (top right, a little out of sight). And yes, that is where I keep it. There is a 3rd loop in the main compartment on the left of the tablet sleeve, it is beige though, and that one would not be quick access.

      something about a quick up and down vertical zip makes it easier for me to get in and out with just one hand! especially when i'm wrangling kids at the same time. also, having the bag laying horizontal on luggage helps in that case. but im totally with you, i previously had a thule edc bag that was vertically standing with luggage pass-through and it's the optimal setup :)

      totally respect that! staying hydrated is not a strength of mine, haha. if I was just driving to work, I'd def take something bigger... but for traveling/commuting, anything beyond 24-32oz takes up a lot of space/weight (and good bag options with a dedicated holder become even more limited). but that's the beauty of bags, different strokes for different folks

    I love the CTB26 organisation. It has just enough. It's sort of comfortable but more so when carrying it high on the back. Unfortunately then the straps are so tight it's hard to get your arms in or out. And I feel it's a bit big for EDC. So I'm in t he market for more comfort and slimmer profile. Is the Max EDC the one? Or are there others better suited? Ideally capacity is closer to 21L....

    • @nitpacker
      @nitpacker 29 дней назад

      I absolutely love the CTB 20/26 but comfort was the dealbreaker for me (unfortunately). Combination of having to adjust straps to a very specific tightness to make it more comfortable and I also experienced the classic lower back digging. For me, the Max EDC is the most comfortable bag I've ever owned. I don't have to worry about how tight the straps are... it's just comfortable no matter what. Although it's a 26L, it has a significantly slimmer profile than the CTB26 (7.5in depth vs 11.5in). The Max EDC fits comfortably under an airplane seat whereas the CTB it can be a tight fit (depending on the plane). In terms of organization, both are fantastic. The Max EDC slightly edges it for me for 2 reasons: 1. Stretch mesh for smaller pockets keeps your stuff more snugly secured 2. The front stash pocket on the Max EDC has more volume so it's a great place to fit larger things and keeping it segmented from the main compartment. I hope they incorporate a few of the things I love in the Max EDC to a future iteration of their Daily Plus for a more compact/EDC friendly size.

      thankya! great call out - that was something I was also confused on and I actually meant to include in the final edit but forgot to slip it in there. In terms of volume in the main compartment, they feel pretty much identical (I packed them out with the same things). With that being said, the Pro gains a little bit of volume in these places: 1. Concealed water bottle compartment 2. Front admin pocket feels more spacious (~25%) than the stash pocket on the V2 3. External side access pocket on Pro Not sure how exactly Bellroy is calculating their volume but I suspect the 2L difference comes from those 3 areas... the overall capacity difference btw the two feels negligible and I wouldn't go for one over the other for the volume. With that being said, I do appreciate that Air Pod Max's fit comfortably on the Pro front pocket whereas on the V2 I would have to throw them in the main compartment.

    You try taking the frame sheet out? I thought the bag was stiff at first too even after I removed it but it broke in and the digging went away. Always had a love hate with evergoods ergo but I think this one will hang around for a while.

      @@RadarRS1 I’m glad you were able to solve for that with a little tinkering and time. I did notice it was a bit better without the frame sheet but I’ve gotten increasingly particular with comfort… ultimately something I don’t like to compromise on (esp at that price point). Such a badass bag otherwise.

    Next to the ULA Dragonfly (of which I have 2), the CTB is my favourite bag - I now have 3 CTB26's (Phoenix 2, Griffin 2, regular) and 2 CTB20 (black and OD green - can't wait for a special edition to come), but still regarding your 13:19 comment on comfort, I find the GR1 and GR2 the most comfortable bags to carry heavy loads in. I am a pretty big dude (6'4"/260lbs) though and it's no coincidence that all my favourite bags have straps that sit pretty wide apart at the connection to the bag. About the luggage passthrough and why most bags have them so that the bag sits horizontally on the luggage, if you look at 14:15 and imagine the backpack sitting vertically, it would get in the way of you grabbing the luggage handle. And last: as you yourself said, EG bags are made to ride high, so supposedly you loosen your straps to get the bag off and tighten them after putting it on, It's not a "set it and forget it" type of bag; they even give you the thumb loops to easier pull the bag tight. Strap keepers get in the way of pulling those straps tight. I noticed this is the case with many (expensive) bags that are made to ride high/be pulled tight every time you put them on.

      you have a mighty collection - the griffin is a beaut 🔥 with the luggage passthrough, I totally get your point and that's definitely why that's the standard setup on most bags. with that being said... I previously had a Thule bag with a horizontal passthrough and it didn't get in the way of my handle at all. My dad has a Thule Subterra 27L and same thing. just comes down to how far the luggage handle extends
