Longest story ever. Holy fuck , not worth watching the whole thing, just skip around.
The dude backed up way too far for that pull he hit it waay too hard.
I see a winch on the bronco why not use that?
Bottom line you pay for trash you get trash. Made in USA (not assembled) is best but yes they cost more. But.. how much was the new windshield and grill for the Bronco.
Insurance paid for everything in the end, even after hearing the story.
@@popo_patty Not even a deductible? Good deal for you then, count your lucky stars. Buy USA next time.
Glad you're ok! I have and use soft shackles, BUT Id personally NEVER use a soft shackle on a kinetic rope recovery.....
Be safe man. Holy cow. Thanks for sharing your story.
Recoveries can be very dangerous and fortunately the danger only appears up in a very small number of circumstances. I'm so glad this wasn't worse. I'm also glad that you are sharing your story, much like the story of a man getting killed on a pull with a hitch ball. I've watched so many bad pulls that fortunately didn't result in disaster, and every time it reinforces their belief that they are doing it right, yet it is so dangerous. -------------------------------------------------- [Note: This comment is not focused on any particular "designated group" with regard to the RUclips "hate speech" or "cyberbullying" policies. Awesome video. I'm leaning towards the Morrflate.Thanks.Lee in Socal
WOW! Thank you so much for all your hard work and research on those compressors. Much appreciated brother.
Sorry about your accident and i do thank you for your comments at the i will move my med kit to the top also.
I'm a Flight Nurse/Paramedic on a helicopter and I'm glad you're ok! Great story and video. I watched the video because I recently bought a winch for my Tundra and your experience could help educate many people. I'm also a Christian and I've seen God work in amazing ways in my 35 year career and counting. Enjoy yourself out there and continue to stay safe!
Alsoo last comment lol, the first aid kit and how to use it is number one, youll never know when you will need it in the middle of nowhere, or really anywhere, one of the things ill never forget and always test myself on is the military first aid i learned years and years ago. You never know when you may need to save someones life or vica versa. Anything can happen at anytime even on everyday easy tasks. Ive been at work and a razer blade got caught in a bufferwheel spinning at around +20k rpm and shot through my my side at doing an everyday simple task. You just never know when something could happen and it happens sooooo fast.
After watching hours of the guy who tests rock climbing rope, that rope looks just like the ropes that snap in his test machine, send him the link to that soft shackle and you video and i bet he would test it for content 😉
Remind me to put bullet proof windows on my offroad builds
Tony ................. .😂😅😂
Is there any gage to see what the pressure is or do you have to buy a separate set? auto shut off?
The last three he discussed do this.
Super rad shot
*AWE HELL NO! Way too many people in a group for Fins & Things*
Definitely a long day and not used to such large groups for sure. Was still fun though! I also havnt gone back either;)
I'm surprised it lasted that long , New Broncos are weak
Watching this knowing I only need to air up 285/70/17 tires on my jeep WJ everything past the Milwaukee is over kill 😂 I been using a Pittsburg high flow inflator that I got about 4 years ago on sale for 60 bucks at harbor freight takes like 15 minutes to air all 4 tires. After watching this I’m probably going to buy a dual head one to air up my tiny tires in 2 minutes 😅
Bummer the Alien buddy couldn't hang in there.
Right!?
Good lord that roof rack on your bronco mooves alot 😬
Ohhh yea. I’m working on a fix currently which will probably be its own video
Why did he have 2 flats? Tire age and or heat from running too low of pressure at 50-70 mph?
@@MaverickWelding he had factory spec tires. While great for gripping, they have weaker side walls for better street comfort. They also had quite a bit of usage over the 2 years he has been using his Raptor. He was at 20 PSI which for what we were doing was fine. Second blow out was a rock striking the rim and then tire also. I had two blow outs on my stock tires as well before switching to D rating which he has since done. Fun fact. He has had 3 blow outs over the two years and it’s all been that front, passenger tire!
I concur with Caleb’s assessment. The stock C rated K02 weighs under 65 lbs, making it great for comfort and fuel economy. They were great tires for 26k miles, but they just couldn’t take all the off-road miles I’ve put on them. After driving 500 miles home I discovered a big goiter forming on yet another tire. Replaced them with 38” Falken Wildpeak RT/01s. At D-rated 80 pounds, the ride is a little stiffer, gas mileage is down but reliability should be much better.
@@GoofingAroundBraptor The thin sidewalls of the C-rated tires flex more so would be more prone to overheating at low pressures at higher speeds.

lollll I need one
Thank you very much for sharing your story. You will never know it .but u may just saved few human live!! I was skeptical about kinetic rope and soft shackel. I was about to buy both for my jeep. Seeing all that mess happened in a split second. I wont buy either soft shackel or kinetic rope. I will stay with a winch. wire and d-ring doing a slow pull . I will have plenty of time before i rip the bumper 1 1/2 inch . I will ever stay away of the danger zone. I have wireless winch remote , so i can hide in safety. Stay Safe everybody!!. Take time to think twice before its too late.
Amazing presentation. Subscribed with the bell 🔔 tapped!
@@RickActual thank you!
This reminds me of a video they show in Navy boot camp about the dangers of mooring line / rope breaking. It's a real video that shows several sailors in line with the rope. It's been many years since I saw the video but it basically sliced them in half if I remember correctly. Every time I see a rope stretched tight I remember that video and do my best to make sure I don't become a cautionary video for others.
most consumers don't have loyalties to one brand. if one company sells the product half of the price and offers 3 years warranty, I won't blame them going with the cheaper route.
Yup! And this info is here however they want to use it.
I watched your video complete, i'm glad you made it and you survived, sorry for what happen to you and yes it is a lesson to all of us off-roaders, luckily it was just a rope, just 1 idea maybe you missed, keep a bag in the middle of the rope as a weight so if anytime the rope it failed, it will remain down near the ground, it wont not fly back to the driver or passenger.. as i have learned this from experienced ppl as well, to keep it as a weight in the middle they call it "Rope Dampener"
Solid adventure with some good challenges to keep it interesting. Those mornings looked nice and cold.
Dude it was soooo cold!
Great video! Thanks!!
It's not a large percentage, it's the few that screw it up for the rest of us
Great video
A point of emphasis not covered here is how materials behave under excessive dynamic/kinetic loading. Heat is introduced, another way of saying it is, heat is introduced, and materials can undergo acute metamorphosis after repeated short duration, high energy events such as this because heat is introduced. Normal ropelike properties are lost and replaced by fused brittle properties that shear suddenly becoming solid ballistic objects capable of piercing metal. Properly resting recovery components such as kinetic ropes is paramount - internal heat generated during recovery attempts must be allowed to dissipate - like for days brah...
I'm glad you're ok friend..this got me in the feelers 😢..great friends
I heard portals take you to another dimension of reality, is that true?
Thanks so much for your review, hopefully you can also add AstroAI T4 on your next review!
Holy shit over $600 for the kit with compressor and 4 way hose
RUclips expert here. You said it. Failure was 1. multiple and too hard of a pull in cold weather. 2. Wrong rope size, no real stretch with lighter vehicles. 3. It faiiled because bad mount and cold weather. Things are brittle and a slight tear could have been enhanced. (Still don't buy cheap) Your expect said it. The rope is not the complete problem. It was multiple contributing factors.
"borrowed"? You know that throws a tonne of uncontrolled variables into the mix right? I mean, how do you know the borrowed one has been treated well and had minimal use so that it still performs as new/intended?
Cause I'm good friends with and wheel with the owners. But no, it's not a perfect world so I'm being transparent.
Nice job, thanks for taking the time.
Oh no, i can attest to the ARB single running hot regardless of where it is. It runs stupidly hot even after 1 tyre. Let alone 4. You don't want to accidentally thouch it thats for sure.
Very informative. When I did mine I had a slight grade in my driveway so pulling the Bronco up hill, didn’t have to ride the brake. A helper of course makes this go much faster as one can be inside the Bronco for safety reasons, or to feather the brake, and the winch operator can watch the line and guide it if necessary. Keep in mind the winch motor likely does not have a 100% duty cycle and can overheat if you spool a long length of line without letting it cool a bit during the process. The Bronco having an electric parking brake eliminates the convenience of simply lightly setting the parking brake to do this.
Should you not place a weighted bag in center of rope to prevent rope lurching upwards
Looks like a fun trip! When you're ready to step it up to the next level, check out the 2000+ mile great basin heritage trail. We just wrapped it up (13 days of driving) around the same time you did the V2R track. We'll be posting the first video in the next week or so.
I’m ready let’s go! End goal is arctic circle in my FC-150 in a few years. I’d love to do this trail in the Bronco though!
@@popo_patty nice-- the Pacific Crest Overland Route will get you there if you're willing to take the long way ;)
What are portals?

Excellent.
