This video documents a pilot project of Portland Free Play to introduce 'Adventure Play' into recess at Vernon Elementary School in Portland, Oregon. Kids were give access to loose 'scrap' materials that can be played with in a variety of different ways. Adults were encouraged to not intervene in the children's play unless absolutely necessary. This is what happened!

During the spring of 2017, Portland Free Play worked with Vernon Elementary School (Portland, OR) to see what happens when 'Loose Parts' are added to the playground during recess. ‘Loose parts’ are scrap materials that kids can use, change, and manipulate in play activities.
