A quick update regarding the question asked at 12:25, is it easy to print a Page in Canvas? The answer is, "yes, extremely easy!" If you try to print a Canvas Page, it will only print the content of the page and will not include any elements like the navigation bar, to-do list, calendar, etc. The printed result is well laid out and very easy to read.
Thank you for this demo. First, I love that one of my all-time fave characters, Jeremiah Johnson, is used as a course image. Second, I don't see the same page/choices on my Teacher Canvas App (shown at 14:40) as you do. I am not sure why. Another feature that I looked for instruction in with this app is when I wish to adjust late days on a student's submitted work, I do not see a way to do that in the app like I do when I am on a desktop. It may be available but I don't know how to access it?
Hi Carol, for your first question, it looks like this is a difference between the Android version of the app and the iPhone version of the app. We don't have that "Landing Page" setting on our Android app either. As for the late days adjustment, it doesn't look like that feature is available in the teacher App. The basic grading functions are all there, but it doesn't look like you can manually adjust how many late days are listed on a submission. Good catch!
Thank you!@@ccselearning
Thank you so much!!!
Hi, thank you this was very useful. When a user launches the Zoom meeting from within Canvas, are they required to type their name or is it pre-populated with their name listed in Canvas?
Zoom won't pull usernames from Canvas. If the user is logged into a Zoom account it will use that name, or if they're joining as a guest it will prompt them to enter a name before joining the meeting.
@@ccselearning Thank you! I have a couple more questions please. 1. How can I schedule meetings with individual sections? For now, I've only worked out how to schedule entire class meetings only. 2. How can you push the Zoom meetings into the Canvas calendar?
@@RedDeliuzza 1. I think we show that at 2:16, when you schedule a new meeting in the Zoom integration, the first thing you do is give the meeting a name, and the second thing is to select which sections to schedule the meeting with. If you have a merged class with multiple sections, you can select just one section to meet with. 2. As shown starting at about 4:50, when you schedule a new meeting it will automatically push the scheduled meetings into the Canvas Calendar and To-Do List, you don't need to do anything extra!
@@ccselearning thanks again for your reply! This is very interesting, we can't see the sections box when setting up a meeting. Neither do we get the meetings automatically pushed into the Calendar... need to see if there's anything in the Zoom end that can be changed :)
Thank you for this video! I’m an adult RN student and this will be very helpful for my journal. Your time and efforts to share this are appreciated!
Love this shared process -- thank you, Nick, et al! :)
thank you Caleb and friends for sharing your Zoom Integration in Canvas and how to setup and use it as a teacher and student! :)
Very cool! Well done!
Wow! This is awesome. Thank you for bringing a little joy to my workday :)
I love this so much! You all are hilarious
OMG...this is so great! I shared the link with our Engl Dept as we have been discussing AI for some time now. Thanks guys...I thought "The Trouble with Tribbles" was my fave, but now this is! Brilliant!
Omg, so cute!
😂😂😂😂
Does this include course textbooks? Do the downloaded ePubs include some kind of annoying DRM that requires something like Adobe Digital Editions to transfer them to an eReader?
No DRM, it should export as a fully open .epub file which should be readable on most e-readers and e-reader apps. The ePub will include the text and images of all Pages, assignments, and discussions in the course. It won't directly embed files like PDFs or Word documents, it will just include an embedded link to those files. It also won't embed the content from external links, it'll just include the link itself. So when it comes to course textbooks, it depends on the format of the textbook. If it's a PDF or an external link to something like Pressbooks, LibreText or other OER site, or if it's a publisher textbook, it will probably not include that content in the e-reader file. It's generally best to test it out on your individual course to see how it looks. Here's a link to Instructure's guide on this topic that goes into more detail: community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-view-course-content-offline-as-an-ePub-file-as-an/ta-p/905
It's so annoying. I wish I could just drag it like a normal file system
very simple to understand
I tried to access the resources discussed in the video, but it is asking me to log in. Are these no longer available?
Hi Carleigh, the link we originally included is password protected for our CCS employees only. But We have a similar page on a publicly accessible Templates course, see if this one works for you! ccs.instructure.com/courses/2253278/pages/knowledge-checks-non-graded?module_item_id=71686526
ChatGPT does excellent work of Poetry, but in English ONLY. ChatGPT does NOT write good poetry in another language. I tried the Russian language and a 5th grader does better poetry than ChatGPT-4 does in mid-April 2023).
I cannot believe no one has commented on this video yet. Yay to being the first!!!

Wow. I had no idea something like this existed. As with most applications available, it has some great advantages as well as some disadvantages. Weighing them with CLO's, assessment, etc. should help educators wrap their heads around it (mine is still spinning). I think about words in our outcomes like: demonstrate, synthesize, analyze, etc.
I am a new student!
I plan to discuss this with our English faculty. Thank you for this.
Since watching this, I am getting ads for this type of product on Facebook--darn analytics!
@@betsylawrence4266 That is hilarious and terrifying!
@@ccselearning I know! What a world ;)
Lastly, sad I missed this live, sigh
I think, for me, a huge takeaway is teach them to use it as a *tool,* rather than hiding it or forbidding it. As an idea generator it's a great way to get started, rather than staring at the Dreaded White Page, but then branch off into their own creation ...
Interestingly, the RUclips search is much less keyword focused than Google's. It measures and detects fakes much better, and penalizes them.
I think we need to redefine cheating officially to stress it needs to be the students' own work, rather than stressing copying someone else's. This isn't plagiarism, but it's not original work springing from their own brains, either.

Thanks for this terrific Tech Talk--I am fascinated and horrified at the same time!
Yay! I just set this up for my student hours! Thanks so much! This gets rid of the back-&-forth correspondence b/w me and my students to find times that work for us. This is so brilliant.
In time table,How can I know which group I’m in ? New student😅
If you are added to a group in any course, you will see a new "Groups" tool show up in your Global Navigation menu on the left.

Why not blackboard 🥲
Ah... so many reasons.
As a student how can you access a closed test on the canvas app?
Hello Sbonga, you would need to contact the instructor of the class in Canvas and ask them about access. The instructor has control over when quizzes open and close, and what kind of access students have after the quiz is completed. Hope that helps!
Is it possible to add images to the summary tabs?
Yes indeed! You can put images (and embedded video!) inside of the "Summary" tags, and they'll be revealed and hidden along with any text.
This is very cool! I followed the Jeopardy party well, but the buzzer part, not so well. The price is amazing! Thanks so much for this!
