Imagine “a friend” who is always bragging how much more money he makes than you in front of your face…so you might say one day say: “stop your bragging about the amount of money you make!” Does this mean you are envious of his success? I do not think so. As you can see it is much more complicated.

I had a friend who would squirm when i shared my success. That was the first clue. The second clue was that the minute my new boyfriend stopped by she would dial my number. She would sit across the street annd she would watch everyone.

In my recovery group I was accused of being a thirteen stepper which is a person who preys on new girls to the program. A pretty girl sat next to me, and I made her laugh. Towards the end of the meeting a woman spoke up and spent several minutes bashing me. I have found it extremely difficult to not seek revenge such as Civil Court and suing for defamation of character. One butt brain even sent a message about the incident to a girl I know who is out of state at the moment. Eny, jealousy, hatred, I suspect all three, but I have nothing to be envious about. I am broke, I drive a 1990 Jeep Wrangler, never owned a home, I am 73 years old, some women still tell me I am handsome but that doesn't do me any good as I am broke, I turn wood on my lathe to make some money. I have a question, and I've been wondering about it for a long time. I'm only curious as to understanding the reasons why. I work at a place where I'm the only male worker with a higher education. My colleagues are mostly women with vocational degrees. I also am gifted with an above average musical talent, something my colleagues don't possess. I play assorted instruments and I sing. I create the occasional home recording and share it on places like Facebook. My musician friends often comment and like them, but my aforementioned colleagues categorically ignore the posts, for years now. Could it be envy at some sort of level? I live in Scandinavia where there's a tradition of lack of encouragement for the notion of standing out in any way. At our recovery meeting this pretty girl sat next to me, she'd been sober for 27 days. I introduced myself and began telling her how the meeting works, she thought I was funny and we had a good time laughing and giggling. The whole group of about 30 people became enraged that I dare make this young girl laugh. Towards the end of the meeting a woman began a tirade about 13 Steppers which are people who prey on newcomers. She went on for 5 minutes slamming me for 13 stepping this girl, then another rude old cow jumped in between me and this girl while we were holding hands for the closing prayer. Later on, I asked a married lady friend of mine what was going on. She told me, "You're a fox in a henhouse." I'd never thought of that, but it seems true, a lot of people don't like me and "How dare you talk to this little girl and make her laugh!" Screw them! They have been doing this kind of shit to me for about two years and it's getting very tiring.

I liked the animations in your video and the content you provided. I'd suggest (with all due respect) a change in the title. I don't believe the video was grasping the idea of being true to oneself but to be agreeable in a group and synchronize with them. I might be wrong though, because I haven't read the author but I expected some ways of retaining my beliefs and showing them to the group without the worry of being left out or excluded because of different beliefs we might have.
