They look great! Stepping away makes a big difference a lot of times. many of us make our prototypes out muslin or paper towels that way we don’t have to use up the fabric we really want to use for a project and if you make the muslins outfit like you want it the first time you can always use it for the next doll you bring home that has no clothes. Until you get it another outfit.

Fun costumes! I liked seeing how you worked everything out. I never did ruffles that way. I stitch two rows of long stitches and pull. But I'll try your way when I want a more pleated look.

They turned out great! Yeah, stepping away from a project and coming back to it later helps a lot. You see things with a fresh perspective. The jack-o’-lantern as part of the costume to go over the doll’s head was genius! 🩷

Maybe you meant to gather the ruffle more on the collar and that’s why you made it so long. These look really cute! I tried to made some footie PJs for my little grandson doll. They turned out okay, but I think sizing down this pattern would be just the thing.

Hi Dee, sometimes when I'm working with such small seams (I sew a lot of Barbie clothes) I will brush some Fray-Check along the raw edges if I can't or don't want to overlock the edges. That helps with the fraying also. Plus I'm lazy lol. Also for gathering ruffles: if you want to avoid the gathering stitch, try taking a narrow elastic (1/8 to 1/4 inch wide)--you can use the clear stuff that comes attached to shirt and sweater shoulder seams, I always save those when i buy a new blouse etc--and cut it the width of the short piece. Then stitch it to the long piece you have to attach to the short piece, stretching as you go. It will gather the piece for you and it doesnt add a lit of bulk.
