Fixing a Drunken PS4 Controller
Watch me troubleshoot and fix a broken PS4 controller, which had beer spilled on it. It would just flash an orange light when plugged in and wouldn’t turn on. I used some conductive ink to repair traces on the membrane. Enjoy!

Watch me restore this dirty, corroded Apple keyboard model A1048. Apart from being disgusting, it had a bunch of broken and corroded traces, which I repaired using conductive ink. It was a new experience for me and I’ve learned a lot. The main thing being that you actually CAN fix these sorts of traces, although it was a bit of a chore, given that the keyboard has so many traces. Enjoy the video!

Watch me clean up a dirty, moldy MacBook, which was covered in grime and stickers. It also has an unusual dead spot on the screen, and it refused to boot due to a faulty RAM stick. In the end, it cleaned up nicely. And other than the messed up spot on the screen, it seems to be fully functional. Even the battery only has 50 charge cycles. Crazy.

Im going to create my own NAS using a viewsonic digital signage PC and 4 external 2TB external drives, most likely running FreeNAS. Wall mounted right next to my fibre router. My internet is damned fast but I dont trust a company to protect my data. Good video BTW, Subscribed. :D

great video! about a year ago i built my dream 2008 computer with a core2extreme, 2 gtx280s in SLI and a velociraptor 10k rpm hdd. The best part is because the parts are so unwanted i spent less than 200 for everything including a new psu and period correct case

I have a similar Asus eee 1005pe, slightly newer CPU (Atom n450) with better graphics. I have upgraded it to 2GB or RAM and 60GB SSD and Linux MInt 19 works just fine. Still havent tried any games, but for general use, its OK. I think that LCD is literally the same model, applying the anti-glare film was one the first things i did with it.

I thought about upgrading this thing, but honestly I kinda think the processor is the bottleneck in this case, and I also just wanted to see how the stock machine preformed. And if I had to spend any time at all using this machine for “real” work, I’d definitely install an anti glare coating/film of some sort. Cheers! 🤘
@@schvabek I feel that RAM is the main limitation of these atom-based netbooks. I even purchased intel- compatible 4GB so-dimm module (they are scarce and pretty expensive unlike their AMD counterparts) to no avail, machine would not boot. If you plan any modern Linux distro for your Aspire, pick some Chrome-based browser, its much better for weak CPUs than firefox.

В командировки ранньше ездил с похожим (проходил старые игрушки и фильмы\сериалы смотрел. На ХДД он реально овощ был, но как поставил ссд, то поживее стало. Атомы это овощи реальные, чисто печатные машинки, как они и позиционировались. Да и ведоядро чисто затычка для вывода буков), потом поменял на ноут с рязанью 2200ю, а потом купил себе стим дэк и кайфую. Попробуй найти потом тонкий клиент, некоторые прям топ машины для дос/вин хр игры нативно. Почему рокет-джампом за армором не залетел?
@@ro1934 Я-то думал устроить ССД и побольше рама, но на мой взгляд тут как раз процессор потолок. И мне было интересно, какого результата можно добиться на обычной конфигурации. Насчет тонких клиентов, вот это да, особенно потому что не занимают столько места как бежевые шкафы)) Вот в том-то и дело, у меня в детстве рокет джамп был на другой какой-то кнопке, и я дебилом пытался вспомнить, куда по дефолту нажать, и в конце меня убили 😂

I have something very simillar to this. It's a Samsung NC110 from 2011, possibly one of the last atom netbooks. The thing is, even though it still tops out at 2gb ram, the intel atom n455 cpu in it is 64bit. Windows XP and archlinux or debian with XFCE runs on it well (both had some hesitation for wifi to get working)
Hey, thanks for commenting! Wow, 2011 really does seem kinda late for an Atom netbook, they could’ve put an C2D in it at that point. But the whole category of netbooks/ultra portables is really fascinating by itself. If I get my hand on some other models, I’d be interested to test them as well. Cheers! 🤘
@@schvabek The only C2D netbook that I know exists and I had is the Acer Travelmate 6293. Like any high-power acer, it died out of the blue, screen comes on for a split second and goes away. Thats a firmware problem.
@@airman14_lefans I’ve read that later Sony Vaio TZ series had C2D processors, and they look pretty kick-ass. Wouldn’t mind having one of those.
Copperpaste is not optimal, i have the 2.1 (witch isnt a powermac) its built like a server, mine boots from an nvme, has windows 10 and have a 6gb graphics card. The bios is 32 bit so you have to build your own OS with a 32 bit bios and 64 bit OS, there are guides on how to do it.
@@hatehead1983 Hey, thanks for commenting! Your setup sounds awesome. This thing uses copper pipes and a copper heat sink in combination with aluminium fins, and I’ve read that you should use copper thermal paste for that. I don’t need this thing to run Windows 10 or have a 64 bit OS, although it is capable of running it.
Cool rig.. I got a Dual G5 Apple XServe in my rack that still drives the apple xserve raid nas.. fun stuff..

Oh my goodness, my best friend has an older "tiny laptop" and I just texted him to confirm it was an Acer Netbook, and it is! His is a bit newer though, but he can't remember what year it is lol. It has a really funny little mouse, which is attached to a very thin retractable cord! The glare on the screen on your netbook was pretty bad actually lol. I agree though about how handy it is to have all those ports on the sides is great! 😊

I've one of these myself and I absolutely adore it's form factor but the Intel Atom CPU was and is just a trainwreck. Back then I always hoped that some manufacturer would make one of these with a half decent Core2Duo CPU.

How do you find the temperature on this Mac and what is the stated normal range?
Hey, thanks for commenting! I’ve installed a third party app called Temperature Monitor, but there are several free apps you can use. As far as normal temps, there are several components which get hot - processor, memory, GPU… They seem to run somewhere between 30-65 degrees Celsius on mine, which is considered normal (as far as I can tell from looking it up on intels website). But I have seen temps rise above 70 degrees when under considerable load, which is a tad too hot.

@@schvabek Mostly because I don't have an actual memory card. I bought the gamecube pretty cheap and got the same kit you did and I know there is a Virtual Memory Card option in Swiss but it does not seem to work in this config with the save card and the game iso running from the same device
@@TheDomocorn Yeah, I’m not entirely sure wether the GC2SD can even be used as a memory card. I do have an original GC memory card, but it’s very low capacity, so I just ordered a third party 128 MB one off of AliExpress for just a few bucks. Depending on where you live, you might even be able to find one on Amazon (if you don’t feel like waiting for one from China).
This is a 3,1. The 5,1 is infinitely better.

@@ro1934 Спасибо! Что до соседей, они-то не сильно жалуются, поскольку я редко усилитель включаю, в основном с наушниками играю. А друзья молодцы по любому. Насчет лака тоже интересно - я изначально хотел, но мне сказали, что любые повреждения лака, царапины и прочее никак трогать нельзя. Это типа ее «шрамы». Прогугли гитару SRV, сразу поймешь 😂

Oh my goodness!!! First off, THANK YOU for the instructions on how to remove rust from metal- I had NO IDEA it could be done with a soak in vinegar, or with some very fine sandpaper for finishing touches! This will definitely come in handy for me if ever I pick up something vintage that needs a little work 😊 I know absolutely nothing about guitars or their parts, but I watched and listened attentively, and really enjoyed the transformation. Those white MacBooks... man, I forgot about THOSE! I remember seeing one in 2007, before I got my first MacBook Pro in 2008. When you were trying to guess the password, I was literally yelling out "Orange! Strawberry! Grape!" LMAO 🤣 So happy everything worked out! This was so satisfying. Your narration and storytelling skills are absolutely top notch, and you do a great job explaining the progress from start to finish. As a viewer, it really creates that need to stick around until the end to find out what happens with the project! I really enjoyed the guitar playing at the end- I LOVE Dire Straits! My best friend does too, and so do many of my relatives. Thanks again for another cool and enjoyable video- they're so good!!! Fawn 😊

From time to time I pick up free furniture from the side of the road, clean it up and refinish it- now that I'm familiar with the rust removal process, I could at least try to clean up the original screws and hardware with this method instead of automatically swapping them out! And thank YOU for being interactive with your audience and replying to comments- not all creators take the time to do that, especially when a viewer takes the time to type out a comment about the video. Forgot to mention, just some feedback on the thumbnail of this video- it's not bad by any means, but in my opinion this one doesn't do this video any justice. To a person who hasn't subscribed and based on the image alone, there's no indication that either the guitar or the computer have undergone any transformation, restoration, or have been saved from the landfill! Many people are fascinated with "before and after" transformations- whether it's a hardwood floor, a pair of thrifted jeans, or in this case a vintage guitar and a vintage laptop! Just figured I'd mention for future videos, or if you're doing any updates to existing thumbnails, this one in particular didn't prepare me for how impressive the transformations really were! 😊

Yeah, I kinda miss when Apple had an entry level Mac. I quite liked the iBook/MacBook lineup.
I literally picked up the same keyboard with the same water damage issue from a local trash and treasure market.. will definitely try the conductive pen technique! Good to know I'm not the only one stripping things down to get to every nook and cranny !!

@@BurninSven1 Sorry the video was such a disappointment 🤷♂️ But from the comments I can tell that people have installed newer operating systems on older Mac Pros, and depending on your configuration, you might be able to use them efficiently. I still have one, but some days ago one of the rises have a shortcut after a energy fault. it was 16gb at total with El capitan running fine, now just 8gb with one rise.

@@waldfruchttee yeah, it kinda sucks the hard drive isn’t easier to access (like it is on the plastic MacBooks or early unibody models). But at least it’s fairly robust and you don’t have to worry about breaking plastic snaps 🤷♂️

Never use a Paint Brush or similar ta Dust off a Computer motherboard or cards. It Creates "STATIC"> Statick Kills electronics. Just a word of precaution. better ta use a air can and use it 6 inches away from the parts, as ta not create "AIR STATIC". or use an air hose that doesn't spit humidity or water.

i use this same macbook as my everyday i maxed the mem, installed ssd, and linux mint but you can install Monterrey using open core and it works great, i have it on a separate ssd because i prefer linux anyway. this is definitely not useless! it will run win11 why bother with win7?

If it’s from 2006, I believe it used DDR3 ECC DIMM
@@timathias7605it’s actually DDR2. DDR3 wasn’t really released/supported until after this thing had already come out.
