Loving going thru Hebrews with y’all

My wife and I asked Pastor Jeff about this back some time around 2010 and he said then that if the denomination ever made the move towards female pastors that they'd be one of the first ones out the door. It's good to see that they have remained steadfast in that commitment.

I was raised in the Alliance. I also went to an Alliance church for my young adult years. 1980-2000. During that time I struggled with the lack of accountability for one of the abusive leaders in my church. I was bullied, gaslighted and sabotaged. This went on within the church for 10 years. I had reached the 50% mile marker of leaving the denomination. In my middle age years, we lived in a part of the country where there were not Alliance churches. Since the Ravi Zacharias scandal, I have decided to never come back. I whole heartedly support your decision to leave over the woman pastor issue.

I think culture has been lying to folks with atypical gender expression all along. Maybe it got worse in the church during the 80s because culture was telling these folks -- you are different -- that's because you are gay. You will only be fulfilled when you realize you want to have sex with the same sex. The church may have overreacted and said, that's a lie God only makes manly men and girly women. Now the culture has gone even crazier and tells these folks -- you are different-- that's because there is no such thing as the sexual binary -- you can be any sex or no sex -- you decide. The church has to reject this lie because God is the good creator and he created two sexes but he distributed characteristics along a spectrum. You should accept and love the sex God gave you as well as the unique characteristics He gave you. Reject the lie that you get to choose a gender different than your sex (or no sex or changing day-to-day depending on your feelings). Embrace God's unique creation of you. You must reject the lie that God messed-up when He created you. Or worse yet, God is not good because he trapped you in the "wrong" body. Or worst of all, that God is fallible and you are an "accident". As the church, we have to help these folks reject the lies of the culture and affirm them as distinctly male or female but with unique gifting within that good binary creation. Finally, I don't think it is true that there has never been an acceptable male equivalent to the Tomboy. Many men on the more creative and nurturing side have always been part of God's good creation. Our culture just lied to them and told them they were gay. Now it lies to them and tells them they are not male or they are a tragic mistake. No wonder they are so confused and susceptible to cultural lies. Culture then tells them to deny the truth of the binary and demand everyone else deny the binary. Culture then tells them they have a right to be very angry if the lie is not accepted. Who is the father of lies? He is the one that hates you. Your Creator loves you. The real you, the binary you. ❤

Great message. As a 21yr man waiting for marriage is hard especially with hookup culture being rampant but I know I'll make it through and the wait will be worth it having that intimate experience with only 1 person.

Thank you for speaking to this topic. There was a good deal I agreed with, but a lot of misunderstanding on how those of us that call ourselves conservative christians really think. It is not a party thing, but an issues thing. I heard typical talking points about individualism, not caring, condemning us for the sins of those preceding us or even comparing conservatives to the religious zealots of Jesus day. Also heard excuses for why people do what they do without mentioning our sinful hearts. We are to show Christ love, but we need to try not to compromise while doing that, which admittedly we all do. We all want people to like us or at least not dislike us, but that may not happen. Jesus told us that when he said they hated me so they will hate you too. We all agree we need to be caring and loving to those around us in order to show Christ love so we can talk to them about their need for Him, but I think we should also not be afraid to take a stand for major issues in our society. Thanks again for discussing the topic.
