SteelSeries Arctis Pro - Broken/Loose Earpiece DIY Fix
DISCLAIMER: please do this at your own risk. I'm not responsible for whatever happens to your headset, and what worked for me will likely work for you if you're careful with your headset.
Sorry for mixing up plastic cable ties and saying wires a lot, but hopefully I was clear enough to be understood.
This video offers instructions on how to fix your SteelSeries Arctis Pro Headset if you can't send it to RMA and don't want to use any foams, glues or epoxies in the process.
This a simple fix and makes the headset as tight as new (or more, if you wish so).
FOR THIS FIX, YOU WILL NEED:
A small flathead screwdriver
A small crosshead screwdriver
2 plastic cable ties
A piece of firm plastic that you ca...

This shitty company went on to replace the internal screws on the earpieces in newer generations of the arctis pro with torx T7 security screws - just so you had less opportunity to repair them yourself and would have a higher likelihood of buying other products from them. They knew it was an issue, they did nothing to fix the occurrence of the issue and then they made it harder for customers to address the issue themselves. They are literally the worst headset company I've encountered in my 30+ years of gaming.

Show de bola! Very good trades-off approach for those who can't or are willing to use all the other fancy workarounds tinkering with solder iron; 3d printing; epoxy and so on I kept postponing this but finally did it today and it worked really well. I feel like the "seal" for outside noises didn't get up to how it was, but I'd say it's 95%. Thank you for the tip!

Did this to my Arctis 9x and it works there is barely a difference, and once I got the strap readjusted then it was all fine, if you want more svivel you could just cross the zip ties over the arm in an X patern, and if you really want more articulation you could even just use hair bands instead of zip ties, I prefer the more robust approach

I think whats even more wild is the amount of people that are having this issue. Its obvious that steelseries designed the headphones this way or knows about this but wont do anything becuase they know if they break you'll just give them more money for a new headset. But you'd think if so many people were complaing about this they'd at least make them a bit more durable. Goes to show how little this company actaully cares about their customers. Fuck SteelSeries

I have exactly the same problem. Yesterday the plastic was broken after 2 years I am using the headphones. Joining the metal part with plastic is a very bad idea and that is the worst part of the headphones. I have seen other Arctis headphones have the same problem!

#Steelseries should be ashamed of them selves for using such bad design and cheap shit plastics! Its NOT worth its insanely high pricetag when it breaks so easy, i have had 4 now, (1 replaced) and they all had this problem, but all in the left ear cup. #Steelseries should change name to #Stealseries.

The only reason a company designs a headset like is purposely to force you to buy new ones just because they know a lot of people will not bother repairing it. It baffled me to see this, absolute garbage design choice. Especially with so many headsets designs out there... the new Nova Pro also has this bullshit design and it an insanely expensive headset.

One of the most usefull videos on youtube, Thank u, i fixed mine the same way but i dident had to use any strips. I just cut out a piece of plastic that fitted the hole and put in epoxy glue mixed with baking soda. Thats makes plastic concrete and holds everthing in place and it ges so hard fast. So baking soda and epoxy= plastic cement.

if the hinges dont break in the first year then you'll probably get stung by the headset refusing to charge. i have the 9x and have gone through 2 sets now. as much as i liked them ill never buy steelseries again

How do you make the holes with just a screwdriver?

    • @Pedr0Diniz
      @Pedr0Diniz Год назад

Just rotate a philips screwdriver applying a little bit of force. Their plastic isn't too strong, so after a few minutes you should be able to pierce the holes.

At first, I thought this was a bad idea. I was about to throw mine in the trash. So, I grabbed my drill and a few ties. This is a great idea. It's secure and feels like it'll hold well. I skipped the plastic insert and just zipped mine in, but good idea. Thank You.

Mine's just on the edge of this happening, looking for a potential fix before it snaps off completely. I may try using a soldering iron to melt the plastic together before it has a chance to break completely off. But this is twice this has happened now! How have they not figured this out for a £199.99 pair of headphones.

  • @DM1072

Very poor design and plastic is really cheap and very tin normally the metal clip that holds the ear cup in falls off and let's it get loose and they crack around the joint as it acts as a leaver unfortunately and the plastic bushing breaks not good can be glued and metal clip refitted not easy tbh.

Quick recommendation if you are doing this to repair your headphones. Buy black/dark gray zip ties and use some epoxy to level out hole once you've added the plastic (if you had a hole). Then it will look fairly decent (given the garbage original build quality).

I am wondering if stacking teflon washers tight in the cup hinge would prevent the impending loose-broken cup frame on one that is new to very little to no wear on it. Teflon is slick af so it wouldn't bind & its tough. And with a soft washer stack, it would absorb some shock. Might have to mod the hinge a bit to ensure the stack never comes off the hinge. Just a idea atm though 👍 . I use to have a ton of teflon washers when I got heavy into hobby grade rc. Maybe even wrap a multi layer of aluminum tape along the internal edges of the cup frame for even more durability. Just got to cut & pull the excess tape for secure driver frame side mount. I know, lot of work for a headset. But I think the drivers would wear out before the frame if it was modded like that. Seems like great headsets aside from that hinge to earcup mount design.

Weak spot on the headphones. Steelseries making cheap crap like usual. $400-$500 Headset breaks that easy. They used to make good gear now its just cheap rubbish at premium prices. Same issues with their keyboards breaking after few months.

Thanks for the video. I used this technique with the zip ties. I did not worry about the plactic piece. The arm does not move once secured with the zip ties. I have the GAMEDAC and even though they say you can use it with other headsets the line out jack is trash. So thanks to you I was able to save a very expensive and very good quality sounding headset with a couple of zipties. I wish they would just fix this issue.

Thanks a lot! Had poor sound and a sore ear for months now, never knew the fix could be this easy. If you don't have zipties anywhere around your house, you might have some left over in your motherboard box if you've built your pc yourself (or recieved the parts from those who did). Just a tip :)

Kinda wish Id watched this before I got it into the right position, set it down, and put gorilla super glue around the hole. Probably wont work. And Ill honestly probably save up enough for a new steelseries. Mines 2 years old n. Ahhh. I love the damn thing so much lol. I have the zipties...dunno bout small ones though. Got a screwdriver. So if super glue dont work, Ill definitely give this a shot. If not, guess Im using the Pulse 3D for awhile :/
