Are there large labor costs for engine and body repairs?
Body is very solid needs new floor though so be a couple thousand to get that done and sky is always the limit with a engine lol

My dad's buddy has a MINT 2wd camper's special with a 454. He hasn't owned it very many years, but he wants to preserve it. He's well into his 70s, and my dad thinks his mind might be slipping 😕 Supposedly a kid offered to buy it, but he asked the kid to promise not to drive it in the winter, and the kid was like "that's what I want it for!" 😂 I'd love to do an interview style video with him and his cars, but he's kind of a tinfoil hat type.

ooh, so much potential, could be an amazing diesel conversion, with either an idi diesel or a cummins 6bt. Or for a gasser, it could have a 460 for great power, or just go with the classic 300 inline 6.

Unless the engine has been replaced, it is either a 235 or a 261. 270 was a GMC only truck engine and usually only found 1&1/2 ton or larger. To find out whether it is a 235 or 261, look above the starter on the side of the block. If there are two raised marks resembling captain's bars, then it is a 261. Otherwise, it's a 235. The 270 has a different valve cover with two nuts on top to fasten it down. It also says GMC on top of the valve cover.
