The Power of Making a Difference: Strategic Compensation
It is quite the party with all the lads! Did Nao think the robot on right(I forget name arrrg) was a person, he did the blue eye and listen thing haha, was nicely timed!
That is a very interesting way to conduct an interview! Great job Stephen and pleasure to have met you today.
Ha, ha! Thanks so much, Theodoros. The pleasure was mine - I learned a lot from our dialogue.
enough from me...I hope I have not been dishonest...best wishes to all
Of course, Charles Cotton was influenced by the racist libertarians...the early ideology
stephen, I am embarrassed to be associated with your attempt to develop legitimatory theory for what we all kn ow is illegitimate.
could you send me a transcript so I can think and respond to each of your assertions...because there are assumed assertions in your spiel....as an academic that is deliberate/dishonest or unknown. The former I can understand the latter, I suggest, is narrowly educated...
Wow, took a long time for Charles to recognize the fall of large corporations and the rewards and benefits of `typical' organizations...he really is not questioned, nor has he much to say on atypical employment. Charles Cotton was being taught this stuff, and demographic changes...I don't think the HR senior people would have anything other than derision on the shallowness. Thus, the question is- who is this video for, and who gains?
Charles was also taught by Dr E. Donnelly of LSE and Prof. Martin Upchurch (deceased) during his IPD course. Charles' ideology/voice was enabled not suppressed. The agenda was broad. I feel the agenda here is, nonacademic, narrow, ideological and corporate...
a lot of words that dont deal with the underlying structures of engagement and power...
really is nothing other than the banal in this video
I taught Charles when he was doing his `professional' exams. What is your theory of fairness and justice, or are you not willing to expose your foundation assumptions. Are you sure you are not based on `shaky foundations'
We know that Rachael Revees is a neo-liberal, despite what the rest of the world is going....but hey you are a corporate person...and that is who you are talking to...what about egalitarian theories?
...You are an ideological warrior...so am I..
Man I forgot how cool I-Cybie is, I have to dig mine out
I like the enhanced wave, it takes great advantage to his degrees of freedom
Please comment or ask a question... we're here to help😀
Welcome back from the dead Alpha!
This is pretty cool. How many stories does Alpha 2 have?
Thank you. Still exploring, but it seems to be at least a dozen.
Glad you got him back to working and are now part of the very small number of dedicated Alpha 2 owners in the world. My pack of three are still going strong.
Thanks, Gary. It’s a real joy. Of course, it owes a lot to the help Carl Clement and Dave Snowdon gave me. So glad your three-pack continue strong!
Hi! Could you please share your source code how you implemented this?
Hi - thanks for asking. The animation was compiled using Choregraphe - the Aldebaran framework within which python-programmed projects can be assembled and executed. If you take a look at this recent online RoboHack workshop I led, you'll see in the middle segment of it examples of source coding within that framework that will I hope be of help to you. @@profsjp thank you for your help! I am doing a NAO robot research right now and the main purpose is to help pedestrians to cross the road (I have a crosswalk + toy traffic light). Right now I am working on traffic light color recognition. And the main problem is that robot cant learn the colors properly because the camera quality is so low. I tried to configure it using Monitor(from Choreographe package), however I could not figure out how to import this settings to Choreographe simulator so robot can take high quality images of traffic light colors and add them to its database. By any chance, do you have any documentation about it? Sorry for the long question. I would really appreciate your help!
Hi - Have you tried using NAOmarks to facilitate recognition and to align with a programmed response?
@@profsjp thank you for the response! No, Ive never used NAOmarks, it is my first time working in robotics field. I will try to find documentation on this. Which resources would you recommend for this research topic? I really appreciate your help! Nobody from my school can help me, because they never worked with NAO
@@profsjp and could you please explain the idea of using NAOmarks here for traffic light color recognition? I had an idea to use them for the crosswalk(to point at the start of the crosswalk and end of it, so robot can reach the final destination), but I am not sure how it can help with traffic light color recognition
Stolen name lol
Wait that’s not me
Love the shirt! That was great when Ruby answered him when he said "I have safely crossed"
Thank you. Yes: he’s of course a Mando and Grogu aficionado :-)
Another great video! Did you use dialog for this? Like you could ask for different choices and stuff. I dig the milk shake shop too!
Yes: that’s right. The interaction could be extended using various events and proposals within dialog. Thanks for your kind comment.
Nice moves Nao! Appearing soon on the next robot dance off show!
Great video! It sure shows just how nice an always happy and pleasant robot can be in services, they have no bad days!
Thank you. You’re right 😊
Fantastic! I love seeing these Nao videos 👏🥰
Thank you
That is awesome! It really sits in it very smoothly too! Great video
Thank you.
You have an Icybie too! You made some great movements here a lot of work and well done. Before Softbank took over they wanted us developers to make a Tai Chi app. Now I can see how great it could have been.
Thank you for your generous comment. Yes: an Icybie (known to Roy as Tim). Sadly I missed what seems to have been a golden age of creativity before Aldebaran sold the company to SoftBank. It's brilliant that developers like you are able to be so inspiring! I have now joined the RoboHack community led by Dave Snowdon in London (UK) as well as the NAO enthusiasts group on FB seeking to 'rekindle the flame'. Really great interacting with such a friendly community. My own efforts are very much work-in progress 🙂
Oh I didnt know about those communities I will join up and see you there!
Great! In case it helps, here are a couple of relevant URLs: www.meetup.com/robohack/ robohack.org.uk/
@@profsjp ahh thanks! Yes that helps!
Well sort of ha, after I log in with google it says "finishing signup" then just goes back to login screen, maybe I have to wait for approval?
You are the real Prof! This book is a subject I felt is long overdue. Any business is like a machine, and the parts must be well oiled to work together. What you mention about motivation not just coming from money but being assured that your work is fulfilling and worthwhile. This is something rarely done
Your comment is very generous. Thank you. Yes: crucial to balance cash with the more deeply appreciated motivators. My co-author and I are presently working on a new edition of the book, which complements the Routledge Companion edited text recently published in paperback. All underpinned by our ongoing empirical research/journal outputs. It's fun having a NAO 'research assistant' too :-).
@@profsjp Nao sure brings in an audience thats for sure! I will have to check out the new addition. After the Covid shutdown and so many people not wanting to go back to work, it was a clear sign that they did not feel their jobs were fulfilling and worth going in for. I would use Nao all I could in book promotions and seminars. It really is what he is best at!
wow..
Wtf is this
