A visit to the Sumarai Ninja Museum Kyoto where we do the Ninja experience and get to see the ninja and sumarai artefacts, hear about the history of ninja and samurai in Japan, and then get try out some ninja skills with ninja stars and blow darts. If you're in Kyoto check it out, especially if you have kids as they will love it!

The beautiful Nijo Castle, Fushimi Inari, Yasaka Shrine, and Maruyama Park in Kyoto along with an amazing dinner at the wonderful Teppan Tavern Tenamonya.

We surround ourselves with lego staying in the Legoland Hotel while visiting Legoland Japan in Nagoya to see the all the amazing lego builds and have some fun rides.

We explore the Hakone Open Air Museum in Hakone, Japan. This was Japan's first open air museum and was one of our favourite places we visited in Japan, a little hidden gem with beautiful gardens and art works many of which are interactive so is great for kids also!

The mountainous and hot springs region of Hakone in Japan, including the Hakone Ropeway, Owakudani Volcanic Valley, views of Mt Fuji, a Lake Ashi Cruise, a walk along the edge of Lake Ashi through Onshi-Hakone Park and the Old Tokaido Road, and then a swim in the various themed hot springs of Yunessun hot springs resort.

Ueno Park in the Ueno district of Tokyo, Japan, which is home to temples, gardens, museums, a lake with paddle boats, and even a baseball field where we got to watch a local baseball game.

We spend a few days camping at the Horseyards campground at Alpana Station on the banks of the Blinman creek and surrounded by the beautiful Parachilna Gorge and Flinders Ranges scenery. We also take a visit to the Blinman Mine, the old miner's cottage in Blinman, and the spectacular Bunyeroo Road in the Ikara - Flinders Ranges National Park stopping at the famous Razorback Lookout and driving ...

The hike to the top of Devil's Peak near Quorn, in the Flinders Ranges area of South Australia. The peak is 670m above sea level and about 2.4km return from the car park. It took us about 1 hour each way with kids in tow, although the kids did love scrambling up and through the rocks.

We go on amazing helicopter flight over the Barossa Valley in South Australia and get to see some of the Barossa sights from the air, including Seppeltsfield, Maggie Beer's Farm, Barossa Reservoir and the Whispering Wall.

We walk through Alligator Gorge in the Southern Flinders Ranges (near Wilmington) when it is filled with water after some decent rains. I've only been here before when it was dry so to experience it with the creek full of water made it even better, a remarkable place!

We explore the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary in the northern Flinders Ranges region of South Australia. It has breathtaking landscapes and geology, wildlife, amazing hikes, scenic four wheel drive tracks, a caravan and campground, astronomy observatories, and some fantastic tours. If you like the outdoors or geology you will love Arkaroola!
