Never understood how people even consider Ains an anti hero. The amount of cruelty he has done far exceeds the good. In fact any good was more like a side effect from his actions... I'll always consider him and his group among the worst of villains, not like the top 10 but pretty damn evil.
That's the fun part, not many shows has the Villain doing Villainry as their protagonist, and that's EXACTLY why people love overlord. Because he does what other protagonists won't, and humans ironically love villainry when it's not done to them and they can even justify the action even slightly. We're brutal beings man. Just like Xun zZi said: Humans are born evil and all actions of Goodness are lies, thus making good people more precious as they worked to not become evil.
@@zinedinezethro9157 stop being such an edgelord. Many people wouldn't wanna be evil, even without consequenses. It being not real and no one getting hurt is what makes this scenario popular. Curiosity and playing out fantasies are also big factors.
I get what you mean. He has had a hand in several acts of cruelty. However, consider what the floor guardians would have done without him tempering their actions. Before he proposed conquest they all petitioned in favor of total slaughter. He isn't making the world a better place, but he is leaving things better than they would be without him specifically. I would call him more of a anti villian. His actions are kinda helpful, but his motivation is self serving.

Best moment ? THIS IS THE WORST MOMENT. They spent episodes and omg literally a 3rd in the novel building these characters up so they could die for no reason. We already know how strong Ainz is, there's no point in displaying his might over and over again and definitely NOT when these characters take over hours of screen time and more than half the novel. This a waste of screen time when it could be spent on content for respect of the viewer/readers time. Their deaths do not progress the plot for the amount of time they take up.
They got the screen time to get you to like them, then you would get to see how cruel and evil Ainz is from outsiders perspective

In D&D: skeleton warrior removes a ring. Mage make a constitution save. Mage 19 + my bonuses DM: (smiling Evily) you failed you proceed to vomit untrollably as the magical power unleashed sheer size and force is like nothing you ever experienced. This was no skeleton warrior but an elder Lich, who you now realize was toying with you for his amusement.
I think power wise, a demilich be more fitting, preferebly from 3.5e as they are similar enough. But maybe atrotopus, god born death things would be close too. Again from 3.5e since ainz is supposed be powerful

The problem with death is that it's uncomfortable. Uncontrollable. Untamable and relentless. That's why the god offer prayers in the hopes of a hero to stop the inevitable.
