Ironhide Combatives
США
Добавлен 13 ноя 2023
Ironhide Combatives is a small historical fencing club based in Northern Indiana, USA. We first started clashing steel in early 2020 but really started to focus on twice weekly sparring starting in 2023. Since then we have competed in the AG Open (May 2023) and the Circle City Steel Clash twice. (Nov '23 and May '24) While we appreciate HEMA and utilize historical sources, our main focus is on what is most effective in combat. We also experiment with unusual weapon pairings other than strictly longsword. We are not part of the official HEMA alliance. Most of our videos are of sparring matches. We don't record much of our technique practice or various drills.

Could you please explain why the guy with the longsword didn’t make any thrusts and only tried to cut his opponent? Or did I miss something?
There were two attempted thrusts, the first exchange and also around the 53 second mark. Generally speaking it is easier to parry the longsword thrust with an arming sword than it is to parry a cut. The longsword has a large leverage advantage making cuts against an arming sword. (2 Hands vs 1 Hand.)
Most welcome 🙏
idk why RUclips put this on my recommended, but hopefully the algorithm graces you folks, looks fun
Thanks! We record these sparring sessions for training purposes. We have a small club that is self taught so having these available to review is very helpful.
Tally Ho
Tally ho indeed! Thanks for watching!
Saw some good attacks on preparation in there.
Can you explain a little of what happened?
I believe Rose won this fight 5-0. There is a score counter in the top left that can be somewhat hard to see. In short 1 point is awarded for landing a quality hit on the opponent while still protecting yourself from your opponents next attempted hit. Double hits award 0 points for both fighters. Here's a link to the rules from the Tournament: indyfencing.net/mw-events/circle-city-steel-clash/#!form/HEMATournament
I drifted into a posture that lacked blade presence and failed to deny the hands one too many times and Rose brought the punishment. Great shot!
good technique! needs to be a little sooner on actions and more prudent on defense.
What was the infraction? I don't see it.
Throws were considered an illegal action and this was ruled as a throw I believe.
I'll check on it and we will make some improvements to our rules as well as in the directors' training.
To clarify I don't think the judging was unfair or biased. It's very difficult at full speed to make the calls. Our only other tournament experience was at the AG Open 2023. The judging at Indy Fencing is far superior! My point was that Kirby came very close to fighting for a podium spot.
What a difference a year makes! One year later - ruclips.net/video/RIe86_tN1Yk/видео.html
There better than Katanas
Absolutely! Superior steel, doubled edged, excellent balance, and far better for thrusting.
