I enjoy doing some animation, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and music. I have some videos of each.

I know it needs endless tweaking, but here it is anyway. There is a plugin that is supposed to make it easier to control the glass pieces and I'll mess with that tonight. Note: The glass pieces haven't been tweaked at all in this clip.

Isle Royale Part_001

This trip was made in September of 2007. In the beginning of this clip there is part of the Wild Ride to Isle Royale in it, but new stuff after that. We paddled around Blakes point and it got a little rough. I'm in the front and Rick is in the back of the canoe. We were on the island for eleven days and I have almost ten hours of video that I had to edit through, so there is more to come. This ...

I hope you like it. It still needs more tweaking. Continue or not? If you can, watch this in high quality. Rate it if you'd like.

I wasn't sure if I should post this but everyone else thought I should (yeah, because its not THEM in the video!). It is pretty funny though. I'll just chalk it up to being a novice. Be nice or I'll delete it.

The Bops invite 2 girls from the audience to sing, one of them is sundaygirl, and I'm sorry for taking so long to post this for you. Never tell me to take my time! ;D
The Red Car Video

This is a video I made for Lahti Industries. It is a 4 wheel drive, all wheel steer vehicle. It also has an adjustable suspension that raises and lowers. It is quite fast too... as you'll see in the middle if this video. If you want one, email him. Oh yeah, he built the car hauler also.
Wild ride to Isle Royale!

Heading to Isle Royale on the Isle Royale Queen IV in Lake Superior. It was a rough ride! It usually takes 3 hours to get to the island, this time it took 4 1/2 hours because the conditions were so bad. It was fun though!!!

I just mounted the camcorder to the back of the kayak. It was a calm day on Lake Superior. Good concept but kind of boring content. The wind was blowing the water off my paddle onto the lense. I hope to get some footage of me fighting some big waves in the future to post up here. (thats if I don't drown first...... Just joking)
I really love this video and have just shared it with my ukulele group in Ithaca. We are learning Shimmy LIke My Sister Kate. I have not found a youtube video of it that I like better. It's so fun, and the instrumentals, the harmony singing and the dancing are all great.
I really miss the Dtty Bops.
I've made this trip 4 times....going again in 2023...never gets dull!
I love this !!! Thank you for sharing.
Take the seaplane
superb , heaven happy
Violin by the late, great John Lambdin. Love Amanda and Jesca's dancing too.
Every body wants to close the gate when you can shimmy like sister Kate?
It's the Bees' Knees!
Such a great piano solo and bass
I still love this so much!!
where are the ditty bops in my life?
I've taken the "barf barge" several times and have yet to chum off the fantail. I've also had trips as smooth as glass. It's a crap-shoot .
They did the conga line thru the audience at a Columbus show, ending up at the merch table. Brilliant, ladies!
Id say it was a smashing success.
How big were the seas when you went? I went to whitefish point in late June and on the machinac straight we had one to three foot waves?
In all dont Let this keep you from going to Isle Royale on the Queen 4-7 waves are nothing. On the way back from the Isle 9/17/07a really nasty storm came out to sea and our last hour we had 12 foot and greater waves. I was eating at the stack bar talking to crew they were recording 75mph winds for while. Had a beer with captains mate after we got off the boat and He said he was getting nervous, haven't seen winds that high. Can't wait to go back again! They will not be out on dangerous seas.
Don't feel like dealing with Mother Superior? Fly outta Houghton Hancock. Everyone should earn their stripes first though...
Agree 150%! You are giving up a part of the adventure onky Isle Royale can give. 👍👏🌟🙌
well thats just nice and sweet :)
Ah the ol' barf barge.
That's a rough ride, but small potatoes compared to our Oct '91 trip. Took Voyager II out of Daisy Farm down to Washington Harbor into an increasingly strong SW wind blowing straight down the fetch of the long lake axis. Quick in and out of Windigo, but in that time the SW gale had risen to a fury. After 30 minutes of climbing over waves higher than the wheelhouse and getting nowhere, we turned around. Stuck for two days in Windigo.,,mostly sunny and warm, but furious gale.
@jrolfes yea anywhere in june and july is the safest
I went on the sunset cruise and I was lucky because we got to pull up beside 2 freighters.
Sure wish they’d come to the East Coast more often.........
I went there last June (2010) and the crossing from Copper Harbor to the Island was like glass... not a ripple. I was very lucky. We had fog like pea soup, but no waves. The trip back was only slightly rougher. It was awesome.
I hope when I'm sixty I'm exactly like this.
Excellent ! Well Done !
Isle Royale Queen....what a scow back in '66. Either Queen 1 or 2. A blow started halfway thru the 4 hour ride....and it was getting bad. It was my first trip there and we were all scared shitless. Went back two more times.....you can bet your booties I was on the Ranger boat of out Houghton-Hancock.
@jrolfes Actually, if my wife and I had a chance to do it again, we would fly in. Yes, it might be a single-engine plane that takes you there, but having to travel HOURS across the Lake, not knowing how large the waves might be on any given day, and dealing with other passengers getting sick right in front of you, kinda gives you a better appreciation for "rapid transport".
This just brought back soooo many memories. We sailed out of Copper Harbor and it didn't look bad from there. I wasn't sure why the ticket office had Dramamine on sale. Well, 5 minutes out on the Lake, we were hitting 18-20 waves. Besides the crew, there were only 3 of us that I counted who did not get sea sick. There were times, when looking out of the cabin, that you did not see the horizon for all 360 degrees; nothing but walls of water. And this was July. Summer crossing is best???!!!
Potpuno sam opčinjena!!! This is magical!!!
I took a ride like this in 2002, my first visit to the island. We were on the Winona, returning to Grand Portage, MN. It was just misting when we left Windigo, but once out on the big lake the wind was probably 30 knots and waves 8-10. I think the captain was a bit nervous about his decision, once we were out there. Needless to say, the "bucket" was being passe around throughout the trip. I'll be back on the Winona on 8/13/10, heading out for a kayak trip around the island. Can't wait!
That's very cool. And you're too modest - which is a good thing in some ways - if someone showed me this and told me it was a bit of Disney/Pixar animation, I'd have no problem believing them.
wow what venue was that? it looks so cute/sweet/awesome ! :D
Absolutely love the Ditty Bops!!!!!!
Are you really hitting rocks that far out in the lake?
I wish they were still touring. I saw them in Kent, OH. Fantastic show!
Tried finding a cd of her's, any cd at all, but she doesn't exist in my city :( so forced to listen to her on youtube only. One of the sweetest voices I've ever heard
I was there in august 08. The forcast was for 4 to7 foot seas. Out in the lake it was more like 6 to 10 and even higher! The deck of the queen is likely 6 feet above the water. So you're head is 11 to 12 feet above the water. Standing on deck with the boat in between those highest waves, you still had to look up to see the tops of the waves. Any worse and she wouldn't have run that day. Yeah I was sick but it was still fun.
Love this song!
this makes me happy!
Can you say barff barge!
wow. just dicovered her 10 minutes ago. how amazing was that??? i'm blown away. and inspired. what an amazing talent. give me more!!!
this is amazing so far, definitely continue it!
lol .. them eye ball things are FREAKY!!!! good work tho!
Thanks. You can buy waterproof camcorder outfits but they are expensive. I made this one. I bought a plain waterproof box (Pelican brand) then I modified it with Plexiglas for the lens, mounted a external mic, internal camcorder mount, hood, etc. Its really cramped inside but it works.
cool waterproof case. did you make it yourself or can you buy them, Any infowould be great.
I am glad you made it safely around Blake Point. Pretty crazy through that area. Way cool video! How did you mount you camera to the canoe? Is it waterproof?
I went there in 1986 and it was so rough on the way back to Copper Harbor, people were too scared to be sick! I drank heavily at the old Harbor Haus tavern. Uffda!!!
Thanks for the nice comment, but I couldn't hold a candle to the Disney animators!
