Window EXTENSION JAMBS & CASING/TRIM-AKA “A Day in the Cobbler’s Workshop”-Popple People-Episode 83
Jerry can be an old crab. He’s got a lot of physical maladies and so on, so that likely makes him snappy. My thoughts on the glue like residue is that it was likely on the inside of the box, and when the bag went in and shut, got on the bag. In that case he would not have known. I have the double Antarctic bag setup, Antarctic bag with zip on over bag, and it is an inferno. I got the ‘mummy’ with boat foot area. The bag is basically for big expeditions where you or your dogs are pulling a sled or similar, not backpacking as you stated. I send Jerry commentary often, but never seen my emails mentioned in his newsletters. It doesn’t bother me though I am super happy with the bag, and I got some lamilite socks to slip over my wool socks to wear in my MukLuks. I did a bunch of videos recently on keeping warm on my channel if interested. 🎄
Thanks for sharing! We will check out your videos!
You’re welcome, if you have any questions always feel free to drop me a line. 😎🎄
UPDATE: We just received an email that this has been RECALLED!! Yikes!! 😮
I've been buying from Wiggy's for about 10 years. Never had any problems with the products. Sometimes the owner can be frosty, but he's been in the business for many years and has seen it all. I've come to accept the attitude because I've found the product to be arguably the best in the industry. In a life threatening situation I'd trust my Wiggy's over anything else.
Thanks for sharing!
Great Video, I am trying to do a speed test but it just keeps saying ‘ failed’, the dish is aligned
How recently did you set it up? (It can take a day or so to “settle” into a stable connection…it could be that & trying again tomorrow might work…)
Just looking at getting Starlink on my place, which is also in the middle of woodland. Found your excellent video and just wanted to say hi and thank you for it. Your video is very informative and professional. Merry Christmas from Tasmania 👍🏼
Thank you & Merry Christmas to you too!
Thank you for this straight forward, easy to understand video for this electronic device challenged old lady. Be Well 🌺
You’re welcome! Glad you found it helpful!
I have the -60f bag and the lux mat that i haul around with me on my trapline here in Alaska. Have not been cold yet
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I love wiggys stuff
Perfect video for installing
Thanks! We appreciate it!
I left a review on why their warmest selling mittens needed improvements and wiggys didn't post my review either. The guy that runs the company can't handle any criticism. I just ordered the heater body suit and hopefully it keeps me warm. I also have the iron tuff jacket, bibs and coveralls and a complete outfit from fortress clothing and the whole outfit is extremely lightweight and easily compresses into a sleeping bag compression sack.
Good to know! Thanks for sharing!
Honestamente, cual es mejor, woodland o wood Mizer
We have not used a Wood Mizer, so we cannot compare the 2.
I see on Amazon a 4,000 watt version of this one. Yall ever tried that one?
Oooh! Nope. We haven’t seen that size! Good to know! Thanks for the heads up!
Many thanks!
Thank you for the review.
Thanks for watching! We appreciate it!
I saved your video from last year. I love how yours turned out and I've been inspired since. Could you please share a link to the styrofoam ball you used? The ones I bought are so hard to press the branches into.
I think it was this brand…from Walmart: www.walmart.com/ip/FloraCraft-CraftF-M-Crafting-Foam-Ball-4-7-White/587776647?classType=REGULAR&athbdg=L1103&from=/search
very good presentation. i love your video.
Thank you! We appreciate it!
Excellent presentation! You’ve taken a lot of my anxiety away.
👏
I have several items. He has repaired seams in the jacket and a zipper in another. Crazy warm. I have the shelters as well He used to make a Lamalite hammock under quilt. You’d love it.
Thanks for sharing!!
Wow! I Love all of the quality shots and step-by-step explanations. This video definitely gets a 5/5 rating. I've bookmarked it.
Tks! Glad you found it helpful! (As you know, those shots aren’t always the easiest to get!)
@ Totally agreed. Awesome camera work!
Love your channel. Enormously useful vid. Within the last 6 months I purchased a 1959 Dozer machine and a 1959 bucket machine. Both with the screamin' 2-53 Jimmy engines. Both are pretty solid - good undercarriage, etc. My focus right now is the bucket machine that was sitting for years. Rebuilt generator, starter, new upholstery, new air-filter assembly (scrapped the oil-bath), new exhaust, new battery box, new rock guards in the works, lockout switch and replaced about 20 small broken off bolts - which of course required drilling and removing the old ones or just drilling and re-threading. Now I'm tackling a complete fluid replacement - from coolant to engine, reverser, transmission and final drives. Your video is hugely helpful. I'll likely shoot you some questions in the days and weeks ahead. PS - some vids of the 440 dozer in action on my channel
Awesome! You’ve been busy! We will check out your channel! Thanks for watching!
@@PopplePeople So have you. Too much fun!
I'm in northeast PA. No power or internet for 3 days because of 4 inches of snow! I'm done with my internet company. Going to best buy tomorrow to buy Starlink. I'm using a generator to run my computer, modem, router etc. I want to use starlink on a laptop. How can I download their app or go their website without internet? Do I need to go somewhere else where I can get wifi to do this? And thanks for a straight to the point, informational video. I've watched others, and heard people's life story and learned nothing about starlink lol
Thanks! Yes, go to somewhere with internet to download the app on your laptop before you start setup. Good luck!
@@PopplePeople Thanks. We got power back last night so now I can download everything here at home. Going to best buy today to get everything.
If you’re getting the Standard, here’s the setup video (if you want to check that out): ruclips.net/video/Rj7EVaAEqUI/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Great video!
Thank you!!
Heard today that Starlink has JUST added a customer service phone number you can call if you’re experiencing connectivity issues! That is AWESOME news!!
I'm looking for an emergency home internet backup option and choosing between the standard or the mini. The standard is $350 + $100 congestion fee and as I understand it, you have to pay for the first month of residential plan, ($120) before being able to switch to the $50 roam plan. Total price $570 plus tax/shipping. Or the mini for $599 + tax/shipping. I think the mini comes with 30 day free trial. Price is roughly the same, standard seemingly has better speeds but mini uses less power 🤔 Tough call... Thanks for your video. It was very clear and covered a bunch of great information!!
We didn’t have to pay for a month of residential up front…we were able to just do the Roam plan & only pay for that. I *believe” (not 100% sure) that all Starlink systems come with the 30 day trial where you can return within that window. If you’re worried, look into buying through another retailer (like we bought from Home Depot) where you have a return period through the store (HD had 90 days & free shipping, so we went that route). Best of luck to you! Hope it works out!
I’m curious as to why you put a floor in this shed. I’ve worked at a couple of saw mills and we always worked at ground level..
It’s very sandy and not a very stable base on the ground here, so we opted for a “real” floor. (Also, we will be building a tiny house log cabin and this structure was a trial run on some things like floor & roof.)
Looks great.
Thanks!
I got this used for a good price. Though it wasn’t super powerful it used much less gas than the bigger ones. I had to use it for five days after hurricane Milton. There were no gas for the first 2 days. My neighbor could only ran their generator for an hour at a time. I was able to ran 16 plus hours daily. I kept 2 refrigerators and a freezer running. Even ran the washer. It saved us.
Wow! Thanks for sharing!
What does you AC draw in watts
20 amps x 110v = 2200 watts.
Just picked up one of these in the current model which is different than the one here and I have to say it is fantastic. It is inverter, it is set up very nice for oil change and servicing. It now has an LED light on it to light up the controls. Put the oil in (kept the oil bottle to use as a guide for future oil changes) and put reg 87 gas in, as that's what is what it likes to drink, pulled maybe twice (it has to prime since it's dry) and it fired right up. The sound level is close to Honda and this unit can twin up with another same unit or bigger to give extra amps. Just a great generator. I picked up the 7100 model for larger loads and it is dual fuel which is nice because i have an LP tank and also the LP never will gunk up like gas does. Check them out they are nice.
Cool! Thanks for sharing!
Good video review, just a note WD40 is not a lubricant , The WD stands for Water displacement and is a Solvent. Its not good for Chains as it will remove any lubricants that are already on the Chain.
Thanks! What would you recommend instead?
Great video! We'd love to make them like this, we never added pine or the sticks but then again, we have to make 100 of them. The fun starts to wear off after the first 5 or so...lol
Thank you & good luck on your project!!
Jerry can be a crotchety old man at times but he knows his stuff. I've purchased his sleeping bags for myself and my family with never a problem. Everything that Wiggy's sells is top quality stuff and he stands behind everything he sells. There's not another sleeping bag company on earth where if you have any issue, you can call the owner of the company and get your issue rectified. Supporting an American company who uses entirely American made materials and stands behind their products for life is a breath of fresh air.
Can anyone direct me to the Hydraulic filter location for the boom?
Hello I was wondering if you could direct me to the hydraulic filter location on my 440 front end loader
No hydraulic filters are mentioned in the service manual. Don’t think this model has 1.
Don’t buy this brand!! It is advisable to refrain from purchasing this I power generator. I acquired a SUA4300iD, which unfortunately arrived defective and failed to generate any power. Despite my attempts to communicate with the company regarding this issue, my requests for an exchange or a resolution have been consistently ignored. After numerous letters and phone calls, I have only received evasive responses. This experience has been exceedingly frustrating and stressful. When I contacted the warranty department about the problem, my concerns were entirely dismissed, and they refused to replace the faulty unit. This situation represents a significant waste of money and a considerable disappointment, leaving me without a dependable backup power source during essential outages.
Thanks for sharing your experience! That is unfortunate to hear. 😖
Where did you buy the replacement seatbelt from? Having a hard time finding any
The seat belt came with truck (there was a box of random stuff in the back seat when we bought it)...it just wasn’t installed yet. Try looking on Facebook marketplace for a used one. Good luck!
And thanks fr a great informative video!!
Thanks for watching!
Are you sure that your camper AC is working correctly? Try leaving the generator switch in on a few seconds before trying to start it. The switch also turns the gas off. Mine usually starts better if I wait 15-20 seconds
Will try that, thanks for the tip! We have had issues with it before (it’s like a 1986 antique 😝) so it could be in the unit too.
You should state wattage of that light you use for camping to make some technical sense. Same goes for capacity of your phone that was recharged.
The luminoodle light is 5 watts, & it’s a 128-gig iPhone 11. Hope that helps!
@@PopplePeople This means that energy stored in that power bank was 32.5 Wh (5W*6.5h). This is outcome of your luminoodle light experiment. At 4:48 of your video, manufacturer declared it to be 38.4 Wh. They incorrectly called it power - it is actually energy. What it means is that there are some internal conversion losses and 5.9 Wh (15.4%) is lost inside of the power bank.
Makes sense. The screen that shows the percent number uses some energy…good catch! Thanks for watching!
Based on this results and a fact that battery capacity of your iPhone 11 is 11.91 Wh, you should be able to recharge it almost 3 times. 11.91 Wh is what capacity of your iPhone was when it was brand new, so now it is probably lower.
When camping this summer, I could get 4 recharges of that phone out of 1 fully charged CHARMAST. It met my needs.
Can i use those rafter ties on my off grid forevermore Honme ?? Anyone please 🙏
Since it’s a dwelling, you’d need to check locally because there might be specific building codes you’d need to follow.
I got similar results using a chain saw with a Westinghouse portable generator rated at 1500/1000. Apparently the chain saw draws a lot more power during startup of the chain and when actually cutting thru wood. I was cutting small branches off a fallen tree. Chain saw label says it is rated at 120 volts, 9 amps which is 1080 watts. Clearly pulling more than that under a load. Tripped the breaker on the generator lots of times and had to keep pressing the reset button.
Good to know! Thanks for sharing!
Good video! Mine has been in the crate in my shed since June 2023. I just finished my custom trailer build and have the track assembled. Now to assemble the head and begin making sawdust. I haven’t milled anything since I sold my old mill last year! Check out my trailer build video if you are interested. Thanks, youtube.com/@haggetthill?si=bCNmvbVQfq1FSqzF
Cool! Thanks for sharing! We will check out that trailer!
Owning a saw mill is a dream of mine. I appreciate the review so that i can figure out what direction to go in when buying
Go for it! If you happen to choose a Woodland Mill, we also have a series of setup videos that are helpful. Thanks for watching!
how big is your foam ball?
never mind you mentioned that, and thank you for a wonderful video!!
I used a 4.75” styrofoam ball in this video. Thanks for watching & good luck making yours!!
About how many cuts do you get before needing a sharpening?
It really depends on the type of wood & how dirty it got dragging it out of the woods & to the mill. Hardwoods & dirty logs dull the blades faster. There isn’t a specific number of cuts or anything like that. Hope that helps.
My major concern about generators is their noise since I mainly camp in Provincial Parks. How does this compare with a Honda or Champion ultra quiet?
We haven’t done a side by side comparison to those particular models. 50-60-ish dB is the usual range for the ones labelled “quiet” or “ultra quiet.” I will say this about the generator we reviewed here…it’s no louder than a blender (we have a blender that is noisier), if that reference helps. Thanks for watching!
Good video. I just finished my DIY trailer build for my HM122 and am about ready to put the mill together and install it on the trailer. It’s been in the crate in my shed for over a year. I haven’t milled since I sold my old mill in June of last year. Ready to start making sawdust again.
Thanks! Awesome! Happy milling (soon)!
What’s the name and address for parts and where is the hydraulic filter located Please Thanks
We ordered our parts from Michael at keepemcrawling.com (phone: 402-670-3573). He was very knowledgeable & helpful & had all the parts we needed. Tater doesn’t think there was a hydraulic filter, but will check in the manual tonight. Thanks for watching! We appreciate it!
No hydraulic filters are mentioned in the service manual. Hope that helps!
where did you find the seat belt retractor? I am having trouble finding one.
These were actually the original ones out of the old seats in this truck (the seats were replaced before we bought it, & they were in a box of random parts left in the vehicle). Try FB Marketplace, or an auto salvage yard…might have better luck there. Good luck!
Just about to buy stain for 500 ft. of decking. Enjoy your channel. Great review of sawmill.
Thank you! Good luck with your stain!
I had the same experience with a Sherwin Williams product. The problem in Maine, they can no longer sell oil base products from what I understand, and water base products just apply and stay on the outer surface. I have switched to motor oil like mentioned below. I love your channel as I have watched all your videos on your saw mill, some several times as I have one coming like yours next week. THANKS
Thanks for sharing that re: SW too. Good to know! And thanks for watching! We sure appreciate it! Good luck with your sawmill assembly! Hope you enjoy your mill as much as we enjoy ours!
soooo glad I watched this!!! I have 2 gals that I'm about to go apply to a deck. straight to return and getting penofin oil like I've done before..
Thanks for watching! Glad it helped & good luck on your project!
