I love making things, and building things. And I love making videos. But sometimes it just feels great to relax and watch videos of other people building things! Maybe you’re like me, and you’ll enjoy the videos I post, and learn something new. Oh, and I have an amazing wife and am pround father to 4 crazy girls who help keep me on my toes!

fantastic job, i intend to undertake sort of the same procedure in a shed attached to my house in county longford, my only fear is, the old floor is shallow and uneven, iv to dig down about a meter to repin the walls and allow for expansion and repoint the stone inside and out. the more i think of it the more iv to do. 😄
Awesome project!! Noob here with a quick question, how do you get the wood to curve to form the circle , do you have to trim the edges or is it spacing? I wanna build something similar but don't know how to get the wood to curve
@@urickesau7979 The wood pieces are all angled. (I mean they taper from one end to the other). So if you get the spacing even, they form a circle.
Great video and watching this is making me think to break my floor up as it's approx 40mm and install floor joists and tongue and groove finished with a oil based finish . We took on a cottage this year , we are 3 months in and we have had old asbestos roof off, new installed, new timber , our floor is awful , it had 3rooms and no two floors the same also we took down stone wall partion and almost finished taking down the old chimney and hearth and 2ft partion wall must be 15 ton , all by wheel barrow and a breaker , and it's knackering 🥵 So your video just convinced me to have wooden floors .
Just found the channel, and binged your videos. The boards are really good, thanks.
@@EEX97623 thank you so much! A lot of fun to build!
What brand and from where?
@@jetpilot555 homemade ☺️
Hey did you have standing water in the bottom after a rain? I’m thinking about using fire bricks at the base with gaps or holes to allow water to go through.
@@brianmorrison9937 you’ll see I built an actual drain into mine. Which works well so water can’t build up… however, the wall design isn’t the best - water wicks up the walls, and also I should have thought out the drainage under seating better. (Should have put damp proof course behind inner wall and under slab so water entering through seating slats can’t seep through the inner wall, but go directly into the ground). There’s clearly a lot to consider when living in wettest Ireland ☺️
little bit of a whiner,, haha!
Well done. Great video. Shame there are so few views! 😧 Gives me hope that I can do the same to my stone barn. :)
@@gogojapansailing-kenny thanks so much, and good luck!
Excellent work well done! What happens to the DPM that’s sticking up at the sides? How does it get hidden?
Thanks so much! So in another of my videos you can see the inner framing process - so the dpm ends there and is hidden behind an inner wall. Technically it should probably come around under the bottom plate of the framed wall and join with the vapour barrier on inside of the wall.
@@TheBaileyWorkChannel ok brilliant I will watch the other video!! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain - greatly appreciated!
Fabulous video...great effort and wonderful job...well done
Thank you so much!!
came for the pit, stayed for the music
Beautiful work there ! Wow, that is such hard work. I remember when I was 35 years younger doing sort of same with a wheelbarrow and all hand done. I'm strictly a Mini-dingo and Bobcat guy now I have so much respect for concrete laborers now. IT IS HARD WORK ! Anyway, congrats on a fantastic renovation of your barn !
Thanks so much!
Incredible effort and craftsmanship to put a lame ass solo fire pit in there. What a shame.
Fair point. The actual fire pit was the customers decision - I built the enclosure.
An icon has fallen. I remember how thrilled Horace was when we picked up "leben sheets of galbanize" off a job for that shed. Some of those rings look so pretty I think you might have another video coming making end tables out of them. Just a thought...
Yes a shame to see both the shed and the tree go! Sadly I don’t have a good way to dry the rings without them cracking badly but I agree, they’re beautiful
Amazingly beautiful 😍 🤩
What are the top pieces?
They're granite; in hindsight I would have used thicker slabs - these are only just over an inch thick.
You need variable speed for this job...seemy comment on your earlier grinder review video Lawnmower bolts will be reverse thread. Should have soaked bolts in penetrant overnight.
Yeah the penetrant would've helped for sure. It was one of those "try to get it done then and there" jobs. Next time!
There is a variable speed version of this you might find useful for sanding, however they are expensive and hard to find...model no DCG409VSNT
That's cool - I wasn't aware of that.
That is so good I would be upset because its so pretty I wouldn't want to use pillows and then my butt would hurt.
hey come to california and build one for me, get a free trip to LA
Good job!
Thanks!
Thats awesome! what species is the timber?
So sorry for the delay, it’s iroko
Amazing Job!!!
Surprised you don't have one of those wee sprogs of yours going up the chimney for you!
What measure did you take to insure the blades were balanced?
I didn’t address this in the video. The mower has been seen very recently by a mechanic to replace a belt but sadly was not sharpened. I’m pretty sure he balanced the blades then.
YOU ARE SHARPENING THE WRONG SIDE OF THE BLADE. The reason for the bolt is to remove the blade to either replace it if necessary, sharpen it on the other side, and to clean the deck underside. Why didn't you clean the deck while you had easy access to it? Use a block of wood between the blade and deck to loosen the bolt and to re-tighten when finished.
I did mention in the video that I was sharpening the wrong side - it had been sharpened previously (I bought this second hand last year) on the wrong side and this may be because the blade nuts wouldn’t loosen?? I figured if an impact driver wasn’t loosening them, they probably weren’t coming off! But if there’s a better way, I will try it.
Use a good quality penetrating oil on the bolts, let it sit for 20-30 minutes, then try to break the bolts loose. Chances are they are right-handed threads, so turn your wrenches counter-clockwise. Also, use a hammer and give the bolts several good whacks to "vibrate" the bolt threads. Chock the blades with something as I mentioned above.@@TheBaileyWorkChannel
This is like all my handyman experiences. I decide to tackle one thing that should be simple and hours later I'm stuck, out of breath, and none of my tools work. 😂
That was great Mathew. To make matters even worse let's just say my Dad didn't pass on his handyman genes to his son Richard.
Be careful! I know someone who lost the very tip of one of his fingers in a lawnmower once upon a time!
Looks like it all turned out nicely
Well done man
Very helpful thank you very much
phenomenal work! Looking forward to seeing all your videos now!

So much hard manual labor? lol. You dont know what real graft is.
It looks a little dry bud a little more water would have made it a bit easier. (Didnt realize this was a diy of yours) you did an awesome job considering your not an everyday concrete man.
Keep it up buddy. Love your works!
Wow, what a fantastic job. Such a hard labouring job though, glad there were a few hands on deck.
