I have two of these. I didnt mind giving up one to try this experiment. In 2023 Donruss Football the patches dont even match the player on the card and they no longer say it is a game worn patch etc. Someone made a video on that and it got me thinking. Sorry of the destruction of a card, but it was for research. Not like i put it on my bike so the spokes could destroy it hahah.

Ill have to update this soon. Ive gotta a midi setup on the Wolf now and the setup is a bit more... complicated hahah. But the Filters on the Midi Roland unit with the Mu-Tron.... WOW! Its like.... late 80s on up Jerry filter tone. Amazing. I just need to get a midi pickup on my Travis Bean which is NOT gonna be easy without having to drill 2 holes into my Bean and that scares the s**t out of me the thought lol. So not sure. Maybe i can find another (reliable) way to put that midi pickup on the Bean. But im still working that plan out. ;-)

Sorry. Check out Phreds guitars. Hes a good guy and he builds a killer guitar. :-) You can customize them how ever you want. I had the parts for mine built by friends but Phred offers these same parts.

Ask Phred is he has any B-Stock Wolfs. My #1 Wolf that ya see in the video was a B-Stock. Had one little blemish that i lose track of its that small. Guitars fretwork was great, plays great its my fav guitar other than my Travis Bean that i have a video of on here (youtube). Ive bought new ones from him and the B-Stock was a great deal. Save ya about $100 or so. But he occasionally has a few instock. So id ask him if thats the route ya want to go. These guitars are WELL worth the wait imho. Do your homework, you can find a wiring diagram of Jerrys Wolf by googling. Make sure ya learn to understand a little bit of the wiring so if ya change pickups or this or that, you understand how the thing works. Takes a little getting use to. But once ya got, you got it and its easy peezy. :-)

If you know how to do the work on these, these can be every bit as good as a nice Epi, if not better. I like mine better than Epis. But thats just me.

I have a video in my videos on youtube of how to connect your Palmtop to an older laptop. You need to connect the palmtop to your computer and run that specific driver. It wont load on the actual palmtop. So without a computer to connect it with, you cannot install that particular driver. BUT and this is a big but. IF you can find the proper driver on here: www.hpcfactor.com/ You can find one that doesnt need a computer connection to install. But they have the drivers and info for everything. But not every wifi card has a driver, so go thru their list and try to find a driver for your wifi cards. The one PCMCIA one i have. Its a $10 WaveLan (by Lucent). The model is PC24E-H-FC. Its the 5v version (like a laptop would take.). I used the drivers off www.hpcfactor.com/ and was able to install mine without a PC connection. But NOT all of the drivers for devices are like this. I just got lucky with the card i got. But this card has worked on EVERY Palmtop ive tried it on with Windows CE 2.11 or newer. The two CF cards i think i read off their S/N's in the video. But those both work as well with anything older than Windows 2.11. I did get the PCMCIA WaveLan card to work on my HP 360LX with Windows CE 2.0.

@@ctcards2636 cool thanks, I’m waiting on a Sarno preamp and I’ll be pairing with an ART Sl 1 - same setup as yours I think. I’m powering a HT 2x12 cabinet wired 4ohm. Questions; when Bridged the ART is 8ohm, so I’ll probably use single channel 4ohm if that’s enough for live sound in medium size clubs? And, did you wire as bare copper ends @ ART to 1/4” for your speaker cab?

..and how are you handling the one output on the the Sarno to the 2 channels on your ART? Thanks for any help

Yes both my 680e and 690 can do Spanish. Im not sure if all versions of these can or not. But both mine can. :-)

If you know how to do work on your own guitars. Id rather buy a Chib for cheap and mod it out than buy an Epi. Even after all the mods i did, the guitar was still under $450 and after the setup done to it, it outplayed or outplays guitars costing significantly more $. But if your not familiar with doing setups and what not, get an Epi. But id rather do the work myself and put together a guitar and install the parts i want etc. Different strokes for different folks tho.

@@ctcards2636 I’m picking mine up next week off marketplace. The condition looks good on it, I’ll have to wait and see how it feels but I know for a fact I’ll swap out the pickups for EMG’s.. if anything else needs to be done I’ll just get Long and Mcquad to fix some minor things. It’s a copy of a Gibson Les Paul custom looks sick!

When i get back home i can do that for ya. Basically its just a 690 rom/ram module put into a 680e. SO if ya can find a 690 rom module, its simple to upgrade. But ill get pics for ya. Check out hpcfactor.com as well for info on these and other upgrades and mods etc. :-)

Theres some mini laptops out with Windows 10 or Linux on them. Nice units but expensive for what they are imho. Aliexpress has them. 7in screen (so thatll give ya an idea of the size). Nice thing with these older ones is they are instant on and instant off. No boot time. Just gotta make sure you find compatible PCMCIA/CF cards. If your someone like me who does a lot of Word processing, these are a no brainer. My main 680e has been updated to 32mb program memory and 2gb storage which for one of these is good. Gotta remember the software for these do not eat ram or disk space like normal WIndows machines etc.

These dont work quite like a laptop or notebook. These utilize ram off a rom/ram module. This particular unit has either 16mb or 32mb when upgraded. You dont need a lot of ram by any means but ya need more than 16mb imho. The most taxing program so far ive tried was Doom and that required 10-12mb of ram set for "program memory". So thats why the 16mb was too limited imho as you also store certain things on the internal memory as well. There is a CF slot and PCMCIA slot but you can use that memory towards the "program memory", just storage. Windows CE doesnt require much to run. Once ya upgrade the units to 32mb theres really nothing ya cant run (Windows CE wise) on these units. ;-)

I have a 2gb CF card in the units. But theres a thing called "program memory". You have to upgrade the rom/ram module to gain more "program memory". Some software requires more than others and 16mb is just NOT enough. 32mb is more than enough for 99% of the software out for these. But for example Doom requires around 12mb of "program memory". So if you have 16mb and theres some programs installed on the internal ram/rom memory you barely have enough memory to run Doom. With 32mb, i easily have enough ram for one of the most demanding memory hog pieces of software. ;-)

Also that site has ALL the software you can basically find for Windows CE etc. They also have any drivers you need etc. The name of the email client is nPOPuk. :-) There is a version thatll work on the 720 ;-)

Yeah i remember when Wolf 3D came out and then Doom and at the time id never seen anything like those 2 games. I spent many many hours playing both games. :-) Been a flash back recently working on these Palmtops and getting different software etc. I hadnt messed with DOS in 20 years at least so im still remembering shit haha. But its been a trip for sure :-) more videos to come, i finally got y 512mb CF card for the 690. So there will be more videos of the 690 next week :-)

nPOPuk is a great program but ya gotta know how set it up and also how to turn on POP and dual authorization mode on GMAIL. It took me awhile to figure it out, but some folks on hpcfactor.com helped me out. Thank goodness for this program. Also for browsing the web use: theoldnet.com/lite and www.frogfinder.com.

These can do a LOT more than meets the eye. There is indeed software on hpcfactor.com for download. Im running DOS 6.22 on my 680e and JLime is gonna be installed on my 690. :-)

Ill have to do a video showing exactly what i did. But yeah there was a lot involved to get it working. I didnt realize the whole process of turning on POP and getting an APP password and all that jive. Plus everything i was reading was telling me pop.google.com, and its not. Its pop.gmail.com. So without the help on HPCfactor i dont think id have figured it out.

If you google JLime on Jornada, you will find directions and links to the downloads needed. Basically its going to be stored on a CF card and that will be the hard disk. I will still boot into Windows CE, but then i double click JLime and it goes thru the motions and will load it. Its pretty amazing as JLime has so much up to date software that will work with JLime. Meanwhile Windows CE has ZERO support all around by MS. Check out www.hpcfactor.com, theres some threads going on discussing this stuff. Great place to find info on these. But if you want to run JLime with any real speed, ya need a Jornada 720 or 728 with the faster ARM processors. But in all honesty its not that slow. Ill be doing a video showing JLime on the Jornada i have soon. Also i was able to buy a motherboard for a 690 online for cheap with the rom/ram module and you can take it and put it in the 680e and make the 680e 32mb. This helps as the program memory is no longer limited. Allows bigger programs to be run. :-) Ill have many more videos in the future, im just waiting for a few things to come in the mail before i get into more. ;-)

Its just a cheap $4 from china adapter. Just make sure you find the right Windows XP driver for it as there are 4 and only one works. ;-)

Did your 680e have 16mb of ram or 32mb ? If your unit has 32mb it has more program memory and things run smoother.

Check out hpcfactor.com, they have drivers and software etc for ALL the palmtops there. Im sure you can find the driver there. Do you have a sync cable to hook it up to a computer ? Get a cheap Serial to USB adaptor and hook it up to a XP machine or XP on a virtual machine. I decided to just use a free laptop i got to transfer stuff. I also am waiting on a USB C card reader for my other computer so i can take the CF card and plug it in like a USB drive and transfer software on it that way and then plug the CF card back into the unit. As long as they are .cab files they can be run directly on the Jornada. So you dont need a desktop or laptop running XP. But some software ya need to hook your Jornada up to a PC to install.

I just installed DOS 6.22 onto my 680e which also just got a ram upgrade to 32mb from the 16mb stock. Improved things BIG time. :-)

I am starting to think there is an internal issue with the machine.....

No prob. If you want when i get back from my trip, i can take my battery pak apart and upload a video showing how i did it. But i did it just like it was stock. Much better battery life then the thing ever had before even new. Batteries have come far in recent years for sure. :-) Ill be uploading some more stuff with my 680e and 690, i will have a video with PocketDOS on my 680e and running stuff etc. Next will be getting JLime linux running on my 690. Also will be modding a 680e into a 690. Replacing a digitizer on the 690 and adding the 680e bottom cover to a 690. A bunch. Stay tuned :-) i love watching your channel. For some reason these devices are something im really fascinated with, and have been ever since they first started coming out. PS Let me know if you know anyone with a key to unlock GnuBOY emulator for Windows CE 2.11. I tried contacting the person who made it but after quite a few tries ive had no success getting ahold of the person. I was gonna buy it for the $20. But someone has to have an unlock code for it. If he reads this and has concerns, $20 will be on the way to you asap, just make it easier to get in touch with you ! Old software or not, support your stuff, just saying ;-)

I spent a bit of time looking for a key for the GnuBoy with no luck. If you don't mind a quick look in the battery pack could be helpful, also if you could measure resistance and voltage across the 3 terminals so I can see if I am getting the same and if so its the device at fault but if not I might be able to figure out what to do next!. Id have gone that route but the software for connecting these to a computer is only supported up to Windows XP. And i already had the serial cable and Serial to USB adaptor. But you can also take the CF card out of the Jornada and use a card reader to plug it into a computer and transfer files.

Laugh it up, but these were amazing when new and if you still like a small machine to do word docs on. This makes a tiny little travel pc with tons of battery life and a great keyboard. :-)

It has replacement cells i installed. This is from like 2000, so of course the batteries are shot. Someone on youtube is having issues with their rebuild of their battery pack for their Sharp unit. So i thought id take a quick video for him to help him out. If it helps, but something is better than nothing.

Ive tried. Im not sure why its not working. All it needs to do is find the WAD file. Ill try to figure it out. Thanks for the help
