Really thoughtful review. I too really enjoyed A Study in Drowning and was so disappointed in this. How was this the same author?!
This book changed something in me, I think about it everyday. Never hear anyone talk about it ❤
it's so special when you find a book that sticks with you like this <3
❤❤❤
😊😊
So exciting to have the printed copies. Love hearing about the querying plans. I'm not at that stage yet, but am learning what I can now.
the printed copies definitely help me feel like this could be a 'real' book someday <3 good luck with your writing journey!
I noticed that a lot of your script is from k ancrum's author's note--everyone should go read that, regardless of whether you read this book!
i'm so glad that someone has read (and remebered) the author's note! i think extracts are always worth including in reviews for me, especially for personal stories or if their words make my point better than i can :)
Olioli..++ you're really beautiful! And Goodluck with your writing.. ❤
I personally dont read much, could i get two recommendations for books to dive into. p.s I like fantasy aswell.
I also like the hollow places the most! Never heard someone else with that opinion, how cool :D
Nice
Where did you buy this book??
this book is currently only available digitally on paperfury's patreon! the 'book' in the thumbnail is photoshopped :)
@@tandewrites oh ok thanks does the one o patreon cost money
Thank you... You are doing great🎉
How pretty are those! I didn't realise the extra detail on the Dan brown Inferno book until my little one tore it.
Great review and I love your background! ❤
thank you so much!! <3
I'm not sure if you've heard, but there is to be a sequel of sorts to A Study In Drowning (I believe the preorder is possibly available from November, but don't quote me)
i've heard! i enjoyed the book as a standalone, so i'm still undecided how soon i'll get round to reading the sequel after the release date :)
I am so disappointed with what i am hearing about this book. I was hoping she would allow them to be evil. Even if she is from France.....France was also brutal
i think the book will work well for a large amount of readers, just not the readers who are drawn to it because of the shakespeare influence unfortunately :/
oh I COMPLETELY agree with you. I don't know what the author did to Lady Macbeth, but I don't want it. I wanted to love the book, I truly did, because Macbeth is my favourite play, but my word did Reid assassinate her. By the end of the book I didn't care what happened to her, and truly, that ending was a choice. It felt very girlboss, which was unpleasant to read. And the side plot romance felt shoehorned in there, it truly could have been removed and nothing about the actual plot would have changed. I just wanted the Lady Macbeth who bullied her husband and told him he was "too full of the milk of human kindness" back
i truly do hope that this book finds an audience that enjoys it, but it's unfortunate that it won't be the shakespeare fan audience that i was expecting this book to be aimed towards :/
I have a question please
Great review. One thing you probably missed if you’re not familiar with the actual history. One of the witches is called Gruoch. That’s the name of the real Lady MacBeth, so she literally turned a Scottish queen into a witch.
i didn't catch this - thank you for pointing it out!!
your sound is so low i can't hear it. How did you do the images on the inside cover?
ingramspark's duplex printing option :)
Hopefully you make more beautiful videos
I am swedish.Hopefully you get that which truly makes you happy forever you have beautiful face.
Who is Tande?
what edition is this
it's the owlcrate edition :)
Wait so for the 2nd and 3rd book kings of nowhere and house of lost things, there's no book or physical copy versions of them? Only online versions of them on her patreon?
they're independently published so they're currently online only :)
@@tandewrites Damn aight thx for informing if they were physical books I would buy them in a heartbeat I always preferred flipping physical pages such a pity
Can someone please please please please make a video about the third book in the series the house for lost things like a video where you take a picture of all the pages in the book and make it into a video? Will someone please do that? Cause I can’t seem to find the book anywhere for free cause I don’t have any money and I don’t know how else to be able to read that book and I really want to so bad. so could someone please do a video like that
the second and third books (the kings of nowhere & the house for lost things) are patreon exclusive ebooks so there are no physical copies :) they can be found at patreon.com/paperfury
That’s too bad. Oh well. Thank you for telling me :)
I have an especially soft soft spot for the shadow and bone audiobooks. I'm eager to hear your full Reid review as I've very mixed feelings about all her works. I'm curious if LM will follow the format of her previous books.
thank you for watching!! my video review will be out a little closer to the release date, but my written review is here for now: www.goodreads.com/review/show/6497942554
"promo sm" 😂
I just heard about this book from another BookTuber and I immediately added it to my TBR. I'll save your video to watch later though because I don't want spoilers. 😂 I'm so glad you liked it too though! It makes me even more excited to read it.
Just finding your channel! I just did an unhaul as well for much the same reason...I want to be more intentional in the books that I keep and what I have out on my shelves.
MAISIE EEEEEK
I discovered your channel through this video. I just did a big unhaul myself last week. Planning on doing another big purge this week. Happy Reading! 😎📚👍
Yo, I've seen loads of people criticising the pretentious prose in Nothing But Blackened Teeth and then really enjoying The Salt Grows Heavy, so it's so interesting that you had the same problem with The Salt Grows Heavy. Hearing you talk about The Girl from the Sea made me desperate to read it, though. Also, loving this list's sort of 30% sea monster saturation. I'm in fine company
I had the exact same experience with My Sister Jodie but the bathtub scene in Dustbin Baby? THAT'S what I call childhood trauma
thankfully i was Older when i read Dustbin Baby for the first time, otherwise i think i would've been in therapy a lot earlier
I love how calm this was. Felt like I was on a video call with a friend ❤ I'm currently reading Chalice of the Gods and, ugh, it's *so good*. It's so fun to see the original trio back together! It still retains all the charm and humor of the previous series, too! Really love it. Hope you do, as well!
thank you - this means so much to me!! <3 i finished reading 'chalice of the gods' in one day some time this week and i am pleased to say that i am obsessed! purely for nostalgia, and it being a book that is genuinely Fun
I’m in the middle of this book half way point I’m enjoying it can’t wait for my owlcrate one to come tho
i'm so glad you're liking it so far!!
this is the best owl crate i have seen yet i am so tempted
(be tempted by illumicrate boxes bcos they are equally / sometimes even more vibey - owlcrate shipping is as much as the box)
i am so very proud of you <3
i love fantasy! i need to read more indie authors too
Great haul! I haven't heard of Indie Story Geek before! I usually find my indie reads from SPFBO or Goodreads, so I'm always looking for new resources for indie books. Thank you!
the BBNYA website/twitter is also a great place for indie recs this time of year! :)
Thank you so much for sharing your review! So objective and helpful✨
Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. Acts 19:19
This was a very good video! I just finished the book, in my opinion I wasn’t so sure about the ending but overall it was a very nice read and took me two days :)
I read it and I found it very goodd
Then you’re so very wrong. It was the worst book I’ve ever read in my entire life
@@DJ-9y9mf HOW, it was so good
@@leiadebrionster7236 the ending was so ridiculously stupid. Like the king who hasn’t been defeated by ANYONE for centuries was killed by a 16 year old boy who was trained by his army? Or the fact that the somniatis witch was killed by her daughter even tho she wasn’t half as powerful. And the deaths were so not sad at all. When her aunt died I thought I had to be a joke coz it was so anticlimactic or when mikael died I felt absolutely nothing. All in all, I give it 1/10 for effort
Where can I read kings of nowhere?
'The Kings of Nowhere' is currently available as a Patreon exclusive! www.patreon.com/paperfury/posts
This video is enlighting. Thank u for sharing valuable info on how to make a book. And congrats on your books 🤞
thank you so much for watching - i'm glad that some of it could be helpful to you! :)
This was a really interesting review, thanks for making it!
thank you for watching - i'm glad you enjoyed it!!
I also despise romance in books outside of the romance genre, glad I’m not alone!
It's nice to see young people such as you or myself normalizing some major cultural differences in comparison to previous generations. Enjoy your reading
Your review deserves to be read by a wide audience. I’ve read both books and read/watched many comments or videos on Ari and Dante’s story. To my surprise many were dismissive of book II because the storyline and characters appeared to diverge from book I’s arc. IMO that’s a rather immature view. We should not fetishize the emotions we experienced in the first book, but try to understand the source of that change (new, different, maybe difficult emotions). In book I Ari and Dante discover their world and try to find their place in it. Book II has them consolidating their thoughts, opinions, emotional journey and further exploring them. In some ways it leads them to differ from their own, younger selves, or from one another (discussions, even conflicts arise in the process). IOW they evolve from self-centered 15-year olds to young men ready to be a part of this world and wanting to actively participate in it. That 2 year gap in adolescence is actually worth a decade in character growth. They go from ‘discovering’ to ‘diving’ into the world. That’s a huge step. While it picks up exactly where I stops, Book II makes that evolution perfectly clear. As a literary work the Ari and Dante duology is self-sufficient. If there would be a sequel, I think it would be a good idea for the author to move the storyline ahead by a few years (from university graduation year, perhaps). That would be so rewarding…
