I was laying in the hospital bed and the nurses came in and picked up my baby to give her a bath. My daughter was crying the whole time then all I heard was her stop instantly and what sounded like her swallowing water. I told my husband " they just got water in her lungs" the nurses tried playing it off and denied that she swallowed any water but yet they came in multiple times to suction her lungs out. Never going back to that hospital. Worst experience ever. They about drowned my newborn. Ur supposed to be a nurse with all this experience and know how to handle newborns and yet u let mine inhale water.

So so unnecessary! This is torture to watch! New borns are not ‘dirty’ they don’t need a bath just skin to skin and to feel safe not being held under a tap with limbs flailing around after 9 months of safety! I wish that parents and professionals around the world would look up swaddle bathing on the internet and see how beautiful The Experience can be for a baby they feel protected and safe and they don't cry also for those who feel the baby has to cry if this baby was having trouble breathing she would not be hanging the baby in the air like that to give it a bath she would be tending to its lungs. This baby most likely cried plenty already when it came out of its mother and when it got weighed and examined it does not need to keep crying please look up swaddle bathing. Also I've seen home births where the baby only cries a little bit and the mother tenderly holds the child right away and the baby is just fine these babies are terrified at Birth they don't know where in the world they are and they don't even know what it means to get a bath if somebody pulled you out of your bed in the middle of the night inhaled you under a waterfall wouldn't you be terrified

Totally unnecessary. Why don't they perform a C-section monthly during pregnancy to wash the baby and put it back in if he's covered in dirt that needs to be washed away. In reality, he has a fat coating that needs to be absorbed by his skin - it helps with elasticity, microbiome and immunity. But doctors and nurses are too smart and up to date to know that.
