🤙 Masjewerke Muramasa Sound Compilation (No New Audio/Footage)
This is just both the alu and PP plate sound tests combined. No new footage/audio.
Ran out of room. Please look for my pinned comment for board and sound tests specs. Also, sorry that the timestamps don’t automatically show up. This has never happened before 🙁

      If sound isn't TOO big of a deal, and it's difficult to get GMK wherever someone lives due to either cost and/or availability, Aifei isn't a bad option. It doesn't sound like GMK perfectly because it's an ABS/PBT blend, but if money is tight, and there aren't any good GMK deals (I've been seeing the US aftermarket and vendors sell GMK for $50 shipped and below), Aifei isn't the worst choice. I stay away from their clones since I'm not someone who knowingly buys clones nowadays anymore, but I won't pass judgment on any that do. At the end of the day, it's all preference, and if you enjoy how a keycap sounds/feels/looks like, it's perfect!

    • @versecurated

      @@HubertTheMad well 70% being not so popular, not much is out there thats interesting. Last 70ish% I bought was the W1-AT which i've since sold and a DaringRun cause I missed out on the Tenant and Cycle 7. I was really considering a XOX70 or a Violetta but when QK released the NEO70 it just didn't make sense anymore. They felt outdated and at 3 times the price. Last 70ish% board I wanted was probably the AEROBOARD70 cause it has that Thermal vibe but after hearing some sound tests, I was not impressed. So now I've been sitting on a FROG TKL that's on sale at GEON for the last 5 days thinking and contemplating if a TKL is going to satisfy my 70% itch lol. That and I've been looking at the Equinox XL lately, that 50% layout is very interesting but don't like it enough to pull the trigger. Maybe when CannonKeys does their Black Friday Sale.

      @@versecurated Very cool! The W1-AT is a very nice board. Yeah, the Geon sale is so nice. Good strategy - I usually hunker down a bit and save until I see what vendors are offering what during their BFCM sales as well, like that Aella that was deeply discounted from CK last year or any of the other pretty neat sales. Let's see if we'll put a dent in our wallets this year when all the sales come out 😁

    Wow, your dedication to these videos is insane. Over an hour of sound tests is unheard of. I mean, other channels have done hour long typing videos, but it’s just one board, one mic, slow typing for an hour with very little editing. This is over an hour of edited typing with different configurations, mics, plus mods.

    • @HubertTheMad
      @HubertTheMad 9 дней назад

      @@Fajowski50 Thanks Nigel! It's such a nice board that I wanted to give it its time in the spotlight. I know sound tests may not accurately portray what the board sounds like because we all have different setups, but hopefully some sort of comparative analysis can be done when looking at the same mics with different keycaps/switches! Sorry for the timestamps not working. I've only had this issue with this video and the other one that was about 2 hours whereas no other video has issues. Sounds great! For some reason, I couldn’t tell much difference between weights, stainless steel was slightly higher pitched? how would you describe the difference?

    • @HubertTheMad
      @HubertTheMad 11 дней назад

      Very similar between everything! Weightless did have a bit of resonance and rumbliness, which makes sense I guess (it may not have come through perfectly on video), the brass weights versus stainless steel was very tough to differentiate between. If it's the same price (it was for these protos, but dunno when the Jixte eventually hits in-stock non-proto sales), I'd go brass just because it weighs heavier (not everyone's preference of course, but definitely mine haha). If brass will cost extra.... Well, at least with KTT roses on PP, the sound differences are negligible

    Ah yes, sounds sweet, love the brass weight config. Would like to see hear them on some L+F cherry black hyperglides :) Honestly, this is what the NekoGO should have been. But wait already have a ciel60 lol anyways, I thought chickenman proto'd with the Jixte and released the CIEL or is it the other way around? But man... I am jealous of that PC Jixte. Right now, I'm just waiting on the Moonlight. I think it's going to be my only chance at a quality Gummy O-Ring 60% PC board.

    • @HubertTheMad
      @HubertTheMad 12 дней назад

      @@versecurated cherry hyperglides sound great! When the final vid comes out reviewing both this PC Jixte and my older Alu one, I'll be sure to include a cherry mx sound test in that vid. He might very well have prototyped the Jixte prior. Based off of his website and Paramout Keebcord, I had thought that the Jixte was the planned successor of the ciel60 since the Jixte protos were announced at the beginning of last year, and the ciel60 was announced back in 2021. Yup, lots of promising PC 60% oring boards around the corner! The Devour from Anorexous, the Moonlight as you brought up, and at a much lower tier, the BakenekoGO lol. If you do pick a "higher end" PC oring 60 up, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it. I've never tried a Moontower or any PC o ring 60 beyond $240 (what I paid for this Jixte since it was on discount), but it would be interesting to see if anything beyond the $200-$300 price point brings anything more to the table besides aesthetics/the designer tax

      I love my PC ciel65, I just wish you didn't need to solder in the LED strip for rgb.

  • @Callsign-Dingo-7
    @Callsign-Dingo-7 13 дней назад

    Overall, I think that the board is a decent case base, but it begins to suffer from a few shortcomings right from the bakeneko design not being changed a whole lot. Something I don't think a lot of folks mention is the placement of the RGB LEDs in relation to the bottom part of the case. There are two select spots where you can notice dimming, and this has to do with the placement of the daughterboard and the battery effectively blocking the LEDs. While the battery has some reflective material to compensate for its blockage of the LED, the same cannot be said of the daughterboard. All in all, this leads to a dim zone on the left hand side of the board on the front region. Something that could be done about the design is to have a dedicated channel for the battery to slot into such that it does not directly lie under the RGB LED and adjust the wire as necessary so it can connect to the PCB. And, to adjust the spacing of the LEDs to have two that surround the daughterboard instead of having the single LED lie directly above it. This may incur an additional cost of making an additional LED onto the PCB, but it heeds attention to detail and gives the product the finishing touches it should have had before being released. As for ZMK, I think that the lack of a GUI environment like VIA was a mistake for this product being the first notable release in the community. It needed some more time in the oven for that VIA-like environment to come about. I do, however, think that ZMK is an interesting project on the technical side on account of its dependencies (Zephyr Project) being backed by companies in the business of microcontrollers and wireless comms devices. I think we're just paying the price of early adoption and things should look up for ZMK come this time next year.

    • @HubertTheMad
      @HubertTheMad 12 дней назад

      There are definitely some QoL improvements that can be made. I'm glad that there is now a cheap PC case that fits Bakeneko-style PCBs for sure though that are pretty substantial both with the walls being thicker than expected, and with what comes with the kit itself. For people that don't care about RGB/turn it off, or buy the brushed black variant, the aesthetic cons may not be as big of a deal, and since ZMK Studio will be released in the near future/August (until we hear otherwise), that will definitely make changing the keymap less of a hassle than it is currently. I'm just glad Upas and Co. made a guide that even a caveman like me could follow 😆 I think I'm impressed enough/aren't concerned about anything other than the fact that I can house my other 60% o-ring PCBs in here and it not costing over $100 shipped to pick one of these up myself in the future!

I usually see it top mounted but sounds great burger mount as well. But, I'm impressed with your JWK Splash bros. Wow! Those JWK's usually have some leaf tick but I didn't hear any. Awesome vid!

    • @HubertTheMad
      @HubertTheMad 16 дней назад

      For sure! Don't get me wrong, even for $75 ($90 shipped and after taxes to me), I won't argue if someone said "you could've gotten xyz for the same price with more features/does this or that better", and it does show its age being a 2019 board, but like you said, take care of the hollowness and you've got a nice, basic 60% board. Not flashy, but it gets the job done, and as long as someone enjoys it, that's all that matters in the end. Agreed. My first batch a year or two ago was not good. I must've lucked out with a good batch! Thanks for the kind words as always

  • @HubertTheMad
    @HubertTheMad 16 дней назад

    Figured I'd release this as I was writing a mini "review" for this board on the CannonKeys website anyways. I came into this wanting a cheap 60% aluminum keeb that I could foam up for that foamy sound signature, and I achieved what I was looking for! It's not super pronounced, but it definitely is pleasant to my ears in real life. I'm happy with the board and the build, even if the board IS 5 years old, but $75 ($90 shipped and taxes to me) for a b-stock Brutal60? If you have the correct expectations and know what you're getting (don't expect to use this foamless because of the hollowness), there are way worse options out there. At the end of the day, all that matters is whether or not you like your board anyways, and I certainly like this one. I'll be using this board as one of the boards I use in my updated ABS keycap sound comparison video (hence why I was searching for an alu board I could foam up). Still working on finishing the edits for the PP full plate Muramasa sound test video (not 2 hours this time, a bit over an hour), so stay tuned for that! Appreciate the views as always.

    Really neat to see you try Ceramic keycaps. PBT or ABS, mold thickness, and such have always had some affect on sound signature. But Ceramic is a whole different beast. I haven’t got to try them myself but have seen quite a few videos and comparisons at this point. They seem to DRAMATICALLY change the sound of any build you put them on. If they start becoming more widespread I wouldn’t be surprised to see a new keyboard sound category pop up dedicated to ceramic keys and what switches/boards/foams to pair with them.

    • @HubertTheMad
      @HubertTheMad 19 дней назад

      I absolutely agree! Even in this outdated and poorly recorded video, if someone wanted a deeper sound profile, ceramic keycaps are definitely a very strong candidate for it. I've been seeing them pop up on the aftermarket every now and then, and while the V1s apparently have some sort of stem cracking issue, I appreciate that there are different materials for keycaps that are becoming more "well known". I might pick up a set for myself if I see one for a decent price!

      Aww, well, hope it arrives today! Yeah, it was a complete shot in the dark because she didn't have any switches or keycaps, and all I brought over were KTT Roses and DCX Garnet, but at least it doesn't sound terrible haha. Plus, she liked the combo, so it is what it is! I think I'll also be picking one of these up in the future after I make some more room in my collection. Yup, you're right on the money. I know it may be "sacrilegious to force break an expensive keeb" , but doing so eliminated all (or close to all) of the hollowness to the point that my friend enjoyed the board (also her board too LOL. A bit of a CannonKeys fan I think)! Very nice picking up the Navi. Such a unique and cool looking board (the Navi)

Once I borrow this board in a few months, I'll definitely know for sure. Honestly, this exceeded my expectations and I did NOT expect the polycarb to be as thick, both in the side walls, and overall. Has a good heft to it and seems very substantial. Not as heavy as an aluminum case obviously, but definitely more than I expected

I'll be borrowing this video in the near future for an updated "60% O-Ring Boards And Why I Love Them" Part 2 video (both a sound test compilation and a voiceover video like the Part 1 videos) though, so expect a bunch more different configs and mics as per my usual sound tests when those videos come out!

    This is the 100th video of the channel! I appreciate everyone for their support. You all are the reason why I even got this opportunity to review this keycap set. Not every sound test will mimic what a keyboard sounds like in real life. I suggest listening to other sound tests and taking everything with a grain of salt. Remember, even if YOU record your board exactly how it sounds like in YOUR room it doesn’t mean that it’ll sound the same on someone else’s desk, in their environment, to THEIR ears. I am not a professional, my room is not sound-treated, and a lot of my boom arms are attached to the desk that I am typing on. I do not do sound tests to be as accurate as possible and portray what a board sounds like perfectly in real life. This is something I do for fun! I will continue to improve my sound tests with better lighting, video, and audio, but please do not take my videos as professional-grade or “how a keyboard with this config will sound like”. I hope that using different mics will illustrate that depending on your mic, you may catch higher/lower frequencies better than other mics, and some mics sound naturally “brighter” or “darker” than other mics, even without any filters or any sort of post-processing. ___ Sound Test Specs - Recorded in an untreated room, so background noises can sometimes be heard (and outside noise) - Glorious 4mm thick desk mat on a solid wood desk - Panasonic HDC-TM90 Camcorder - Audio normalization in DaVinci Resolve for easier listening, but no other sort of EQ or alterations were made to the audio - Recorded in Reaper and rendered in 24-bit/48 kHz - Audio interface sample rates at 48 kHz ___ Mic specs - Lewitt 040 Matched pair of small diaphragm condenser mics in AB configuration mounted on a mic stand not in contact with the desk that I type on running into an Audient Evo 8, gain set at 2:30 - Rode NT1 5th Gen condenser mic mounted on a boom arm attached to the desk used to type on running into an Audient Evo 8, gain set at 2 O’Clock - Audio Technica AT2020 condenser mic mounted on a boom arm attached to the desk used to type on running into an Audient Evo 8, gain set at 2 O’Clock - Samson Q2U dynamic mic mounted on a boom arm attached to the desk used to type on using USB mode, gain set at 45% - Samson Q9U dynamic mic mounted on a boom arm attached to the desk used to type on using USB mode, gain set at 45%, no filters or mid-boosts on - Google Pixel 7 Pro mounted on a gooseneck mount not connected to the desk used to type on - The Samson Q2U, Samson Q9U, Rode NT1 5th Gen, and AT2020 are in some way attached to the typing desk.
