Have you noticed in program change the first note is mute, try with a kick, there some lag in the system
I have experienced this very same issue (mute first note) with my AirBase99 when changing patches. Removing any midi data not required, especially program change data from the sequencer can resolve the lag
beatstep pro + jomox air base 99 = BIG WIN
