Binary Theory 101: A Really Basic Explanation
Просмотров 934 года назад
Modern Amateur radio incorporates digital computing systems like never before. The word “Binary” is tossed about freely with sometimes little understanding of what a binary numbering system is or how binary mathematics actually works. This elementary video helps explain how a group of solid state elements can apply basic binary math to perform a function. We hope this five-minute video helps re...

Which machine or cumputer was used? Brand and Model, release year, please?
Forgive me if I sound ignorant, but were all these computer animations done on a Scanimate?
00:28 What's Video Images?
Thank you for these insights, very good video.
i hope a higher quality version of this surfaces someday
idk why, but the legion between digital and film is something that's always interested me. just taking something that was intentionally made digitally and then putting that on physical film is just beautiful to me. a relationship between the two photi magics.

Can anyone identify the music at 5:32? I’m sure it’s probably a library record or something. Thanks.

It's worth mentioning that the main reason the TV station bled money was because that 4.5MW transmitter was using (surprise, surprise!) 4.5 megawatt-hours of electricity -- electricity that WJJY-TV had to pay for. Funny thing was, every time CIPS (the local power company) cut power to the station, they created an aviation hazard, as turning off the transmitter also turned off the safety beacon lights on the tower, so in the end, the TV station often got some free power. But it was all for nought, as west-central Illinois just isn't a large enough market to support that power-hungry a transmitter. By the end, paychecks were bouncing and only a few die-hard believers in the station hung on to the bitter end.
The transmitter was a pair of 60 kW klystron RCAs - TTU series. The 4 mW ERP came from the massive antenna gain. I was the second hire when the station was in construction.
4:39 is the best
This all originated on film, as evident by the scratches and the gate weave (which is the image shaking/moving around). This was then transfered from film to videotape (this process is also called telecine). The video quality and in areas with solid backgrounds (like on the CBS logo) have a discolored spot, and film doesn't do that, so this is presumably a film-to-videotape transfer.
What happened to Computer Animation Industrial after the demo?
It permanently closed its doors! 😔
the sounds/tunes are very good. people back then were much more creative
Someone could have removed the “ready” slides and removed any computer/scanimate references entirety of 0:23-2:28 and used that as a “meditation” sign off sequence.
Apart from the amazing animation shown here, this is also a goldmine for early-70s synthesizer noodlings. Curious to know the name of the song in the intro sequence.
The 70s CG graphic and 70s synth music Man, it was something else
That's amazing!!
What's the name of the song at the beginning?

I absolutely adore this stuff, especially the synth sounds. Can anyone point me in the direction of other logos/idents with similar vibes?
Excellent video!
Good one! So, what's up with clocks v.1 and v.2?

2:32 Nice video from the American point of view. Only, the machine to the right isn’t a transceiver but a Wehrmacht Rundfunkpfaenger nicknamed Rudi, so a German army broadcast receiver so soldiers could listen to Goebbels propaganda.
3:31 goes hard
I think you said that the transmitter drum revolves twice for each letter. I think it only revolves once each letter. It prints two lines of letters due to the two points of contact on the printer spiral. Please correct me if I am wrong. Very good presentation of Hellschreiber history and operation. Thanks. Ken S
I’ve been a ham for 33 years. Just started mixing it up with digital modes. I enjoyed Feld Hell the most. Usually using less than 5 watts. de n5vwn
This was created 27 years before I was born! And also, before two of my aunts were born. Also, a person born in 1860 (before Abraham Lincoln took US office) was still alive at the time this was created. The computer is not just good if you want to surf the Internet, it's also a good musical instrument!
20 years before I was born, and also five years before one of my aunts was born, who is now a grandmother with a 7 year old granddaughter and 3 year old grandson. April 17, 2023 12:27 am
Neat video, but it looks and sounds like 16mm film as opposed to videotape to me. I'm 29 and i like the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s and the 20s (1920s). Of course, back then, television, though common, did suffer some technological limitations when compared to now with digital television and the internet with websites like RUclips. It's important that we appreciate the relatively cumbersome craft of television as an education and entertainment medium that 1958 technology would allow.

There's something about analog computer animation that always fascinated me since I discovered it in middle school. You could make some trippy and abstract stuff with it all those years ago. Also, my mom would've been in kindergarten when this demo was made.
My mom would’ve been 7 years old😭
I used to have something like this speech chip on my Braille ;'n Speak notetaker for the blind.
