Why you should try OPEN SEAMS for your next #sewingproject 🤩
💜 What you need to know about open seams 👇🏻
1️⃣ They lay nice and flat - no bulging!
2️⃣ They are easier than French seams
3️⃣ They require raw edges to be finished
But no worries, you don’t need a fancy #serger or #overlocker to do this!
Have you done open seams before?
✨ If not, will you try?

Avoid stretched out fabric from your #overlocker
Просмотров 153 месяца назад
✋🏼 Stop stretching out your garments as you sew! Sewing stretchy or jersey fabric on an overlocker is technically safe choice, but the machine could still stretch out the fabric. It’s not always noticeable, but at the beginning of a project, I always recommend checking if you need to adjust the DIFFERENTIAL FEED. ⚙️ That’s the setting on your machine that’s either going to feed fabric through b...

I simply love the look of ruched fabric. It’s a simple technique and gives your garment a whole lot of flair ✨🌸 At first I didn’t know about the 2-line method, but it’s a true gamechanger. Are you doing ruching with one or 2 basting stitches? #sewing #sewingtips #sewinghacks #learntosew

I quit using twin needle because it creates a channel. I just sew it twice.

I was taught to do it like that, sometimes pins bend, but I've never had one breaking. I did hear later on that it is bad on the transporters. For that reason I try not to do it, but the only thing I ever broke by sewing over pins was my machine needle

My nana did it for over 60 years. Its not as dangerous if youre someone who wears glasses, but you can snap a pin or even the needle like that.

Lovely hack! A heavier denier of thread would also work , and making sure you adjust your tension to accommodate it.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought of this, because I was a little worried I might tangle up my machine. Doing a reclaimed denim skirt with green and purple thread doubled because it’s what I had/thought it was fun☺️
