I was just going over some old video of Luna when she was in the house still. She had gotten something super stinky on her fur, and I had to give her a bath in the kitchen sink! She was not thrilled and had to get her fur back in the right place after. I just love how her back feet look like human toes! 😊💕

But she bonded with you?! Couldn’t she have lived outside nearby your home? So she could come and go-I don’t think I could leave her like that 😢
Thank you for your concern. The clips you see in my videos are key moments over a three month period, not everyday interactions. At one point we did look into getting a license to keep Luna, but because she wasn’t from a “licensed breeder”, a conservation agent told us she had to be released immediately. We knew she was too small and not prepared at the time, so we made her an outdoor enclosure (as shown in the video) and Luna spent over a month out there with little human contact, besides getting food delivered. This helped to “wild her up” and gain weight. The release site was behind our house by a lake. She has every chance and ability to come back if she decides to. We have experience with successful past rehabing, so her safety and success was our highest priority. Even though it has been extremely hard for me to accept, Luna always showed signs of wanting to be wild from the beginning. It would not be right for me to keep that from her.

Such a sad video with this music. I thought when I saw the title that this is her last day in the most literal sense. Fortunately, she is alive. You are a very good person, I see how sad you are to part with her. It is a great pity that you have to let this girl go. I wish those rodents would live longer, sadly i hate to deal with losses, other i would get a possum, they are wonderfull creatures.

I needed to hear that, thank you. It’s one of the hardest parts as a rehabber. You care for them for so long, constantly worry and then the day comes you have to let them be wild. It’s harder on me then it is on her 🥹
I read you were never supposed to release them during the day
The bat was released at dusk (about 30 minutes before sunset). It roosted in a nearby cedar tree until it got completely dark.
