    I took my stock 89 nissan pathfinder over california and hurricane passes around 20 years ago. i didnt know any better as i was told by a coworker that i would be fine. I had just moved to that area from the east coast. There was a couple places where the trail was a bit off camber and let me know I was a bit in over my head. Once past Hurricane pass a rock sliced a tire and i was stuck on a steep incline without anyway to safely change my tire. Luckily for me a convoy of jeepers came by and got me going again. They evidently love that shit. I was able to finish but lesson learned.

    About how much time out and back? Full day needed or half day?

    • @Jtoverlander
      @Jtoverlander 5 месяцев назад

      Depends how far you go, from where I ended the video, you can continue down the backside you can make a whole day out of it. Also depending on how fast you go it takes 30-40 minutes back to town. I’ve placed take out orders from the top there.

      Not part. At the end, you can see it looking out. If you take Shafer Trail down from Island in the sky, you make a right to WR or coming the other way, longer way, you make a left before you get to the switchbacks going up.

      @@Jtoverlander Yessir, tan taco with a GFC! Same, you were the only person I ran into, but I only did two nights. I was trying to find the way to Hondu Arch from the West. If you haven't been before check out Red's Canyon and McKay Flats. They're whats East of the big canyon that road dead ended on. There's a few abandoned Uranium mines with a decent amount of structures standing. The Hondu is really cool to see from the East down in that canyon. If you do head out that way, watch out for scorpions, no matter where I was camped I managed to see at least two.

      I hope you have a great time. Moab is a special & beautiful place. My favorite part of Moab other than the trails is the food. I highly recommend Eggs Benedict from Jailhouse Cafe , Chicken mole enchiladas at Fiesta Mexicana, Brisket from Spitfire Smokehouse, and of course Burgers at Milts. Zion is worth driving through only a few hours away if you haven’t done that yet also.
