      Unfortunately it involved some long hard searching on eBay. Our production head said they got lucky and found everything they needed there. I wish there were a more specific place to tell you!

    Thank you for the gorgeous work you accomplished on my family heirloom. It looks amazing after the restore and refinish. This piece was handed down through my family starting with Major John Davidson and his wife Violet , their daughter Jane Davidson Alexander, to her daughter Margaret Alexander Henderson. This piece has been passed between Henderson ladies since then. We are so happy to have this piece restored and to feel the history of our revolutionary ancestors in a piece that survived for 200 years or so. These families lived in Mecklenburg County NC near Rural Hills Farm in Huntersville NC.

    Thank you so much for the beautiful work you did on my family heirloom. It looks absolutely gorgeous. This is from the family of Major John Davidson and his wife Violet, their daughter Jane Davidson Alexander and then down to Margaret Alexander Henderson. It has been passed between Henderson ladies since then. These families lived in Mecklenburg County NC during the revolutionary war. Major John Davidson was a revolutionary. The piece would have been part of the furniture of the farm at Rural Hills in Huntersville NC. Rural Hills is where the Loch Norman Highland Games are held.

      Hi there! We use the Konig poly kit too normally, but this top belonged to a Steinway so we had to get this material directly from them. It's been a while since we did this and I wish we still had the bottles!

      Just found this video. I have a French game table similar were the top seems to rotate. The hardware is missing but it has invisible SOSS hardware on the ends that keeps both leaf of the table together. What's the name of the rotating hinges that I can use for my table. Also it seems that the clear finish is Polyester resin that is cracked all over. How can this be repair or removed without damaging the beautiful inlay detail of this French game table. I am trying to see if you have a second video repairing this game table. Great video, thanks.

    • @mumfordrestoration
      @mumfordrestoration 6 месяцев назад

      @@carmencolon3520 Hello! We've worked on a few of these style of game tables over the years and usually the rotating part is made up of a dowel or metal pin set in the underside of the table top that allows it to rotate around. But the hinge we use when you open the table top to its full size, is an invisible hinge. As far as the poly resin finish, our master craftsman said really the only thing you can do is chip or scrap it very carefully and slowly. Sadly there isn't a stripper that will do much to a poly based resin.

      Hello!! I checked with a few of our craftsmen since it's been some time since we worked on this one. Seems to be it had something to do with taking the arms off. I know that doesn't give a lot of detail, but I'd look at the arms and start there.

    • @mumfordrestoration
      @mumfordrestoration Год назад

      Hey there! The best way is to hammer them out. Our specialist was able to use a rounded hammer to very slowly work out the dents from the inside. I think he also heat the piece to help smooth out the metal. It was a long process, but worth it! Good luck with your project!!

    I have an old brass bed from around the same time, with major damage. Do you refurbish these old beds, like take them all apart, clean the parts and then sauter or weld them back together? Also, how much do you charge for a complete job, of refurbishing an old brass bed. My bed was my fathers and was likely built in the late 1880s, as well.

    • @mumfordrestoration
      @mumfordrestoration Год назад

      Hi there! We certainly can do all that, each bed is different and needs different things, so no two brass bed restorations are the same. And we've worked on many brass beds over the years, we've seen quite a lot of different types of damage and wear. Please feel free to give us a call (919-510-6310) and one of our Restoration Consultants can chat with you about what you need and then give you that estimate. You can also send any photos of the bed directly to us by emailing request@mumfordrestoration.com and our consultants can reach back out to you! Just be sure to include a phone number so they can call you back!

      Thank you for watching!! The before photos are the very first photos you see of the piece. The wood was in pretty good shape to begin with, it was the finish we really focused on. It can be hard to show variations in the finish in photos, sorry about that! But we took this one from a more high gloss sheen to a more accurate satin sheen.
