Join me for the last two rides of April 2018: the Wilier group ride to the cafe at Burghausen and my solo recovery ride the next day to St. Koloman via the church to St. Dionysius in Bad Vigaun. I meet an interesting beetle and listen to crickets.

Northern Lights & Crashing my Drone - Remains of Pratt's Wharf lock on the Staffs & Worcs Canal
Просмотров 1812 часов назад
A slightly longer video this time but I hope it proves enjoyable! I saw the Northern Lights on New Year's Day 2025 and was able to get a time lapse. The next day I head out with the drone and show where the old lock at Pratt's Wharf on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal used to be, then I crash the drone!

Then I leave town and ride through the Worcestershire villages, showing the view which has turned up now the mist has lifted!
A Misty Post Injury Winter Ride featuring Wichenford Dovecote & Stourport-on-Severn, nice to get out

Great to be back out on the bike after injuring my ankle, it is still painful but quite a lot better. I ride through the misty Worcestershire countryside and take a look at the 17th century dovecote at Wichenford. There is no particular direction or story to this ride, it was just nice to get out.
Salzburg Series Ep 6 | Part 2 of Postalmstrasse, Wolfgang- & Fuschlsee & a Group Ride to Chiemsee

In the second part of the Postalmstrasse Ride I finally make it to the summit, make it down the descent just about and then a very pleasant valley ride past two lakes and a sunset return to Salzburg. The next day I go on a group cafe ride to the Chiemsee, it was a very hot day, but a cracking weekend. 83 miles one day and 69 miles the next.
The King's Speech Heard on a 72-year-old HMV Radio! A Vintage Christmas Day 2024

The radio is a bit quiet so you'll need to turn up the volume. Step back in time to roughly 1952 and get an idea of what the past sounded like. I'm guessing that this radio is post 1952 as the Royal Warrant is dedicated to the late King George VI, the current King Charles III's grandfather.

Two rides in one in this video, firstly a group ride to the fantastic cafe Bichl in Burghausen, to sample their delightful cake and then six days later I ride solo up the Trattberg and along the Postalmstrasse. More of the Postalmstrasse and the return to Salzburg is to come in Episode 6. Thanks for watching!
Salzburg Series Ep 4 | Rossfeldstrasse, Berchtesgaden, setting a my new bicycle max speed record
Просмотров 186Месяц назад
Berchtesgaden square in the daytime certainly looks better! I ride the Rossfeldstrasse in this ride, my biggest mountain pass so far. It is a cracking run, with gorgeous scenery of the late snow and views over Germany and Salzburg and the rest of Austria. I set my max speed record of over 50mph on Eddy, a forty-five-(then)-year-old bicycle without a helmet!
Mountains & Rivers Part 3 | Drone over the wilderness, woodcock and night walking back to the road
Просмотров 83Месяц назад
The finale gets fairly interesting. I use the drone to look at the terrain ahead, and then am faced with a difficult night time trek across bogs and streams back to the tarmac of the Nant-y-moch mountain road. Lamping a woodcock on the way. After that it's an easy downhill to Aber. A really cracking ride with a difficult end.

Hood ride Bryn - full happy view on the misty Pumlumon. That stone is the Dyfed-Powys County boundary apparently. Blimey, it's been there a while. Yeah, not far from the Wye source. You just dip down 200 meters or so. It's the most northerly gully. Well, looking forward to the series. Mark
Cheers Mark, am planning a revisit in summer to find the source
@@wombatting96 A pleasure Bryn. I look forward to you locating it. I love it there - I think it's a cracking space. As Robert Gibbings said in Coming Down the Wye, 'it's no bigger than a bowler hat.' Great view there.
@WyeExplorer cheers, I'll check out the book too 👍
@ It's a fantastic read....
Not ideal with the break Bryn but you found a fix. You'll have to watch that on the continent. You and the bike had to be fit. You'll do the 5,000 I'm sure. Good going. Mark
Thanks for the encouragement Mark, and will be giving the bike a full service too now!
@@wombatting96 A pleasure Bryn. Hope the bike works out well.
Well done on achieving your target especially following injury. Interesting vlog including the visit to John Bonham's grave. I went to Knebworth House back in 1979 when Led Zeppelin played (possibly) their last live concert. Happy days 👍
That's cool that you got to see them, there'll never be music like that again. Glad you enjoyed the video
i took my 100RS up round Mull in November . Nice to see it from the chair..
Thanks for watching!
Hail and wind... but its a nice day.. good to watch tucked up in bed.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
Tough going through that tussock grass Bryn. But what a great day on top =- enjoyed every bit again. I had the map out - I loved Nant Brwynog - crossing that would be fun. A few signs of man but only you really and a caterpillar - that is actually wild. Well, good going. All the best for the rest of the week. Mark
It was certainly a trek Mark and I was very glad to see the sea at the end! Very wild place! All the best!
@@wombatting96 Yeah, I could see that Bryn. I bet you were relieved but as you say fantastic out there.
Enjoyed that one Bryn - ion full. Yeah, you could climb it no doubt. Richard Hammond from Top Gear etc has been up it in a landrover - that's on the tube. Brought back memories again. Blimey I see nearly everything was falling apart latterly. I'm keen to know how you faired for the rest of the journey - there must be a part 4. Well, good going. Mark
Cheers Mark, I remember Hammond going up it now. Bike was suffering, and there is a part 4, and 5! Best, Bryn
@@wombatting96 A pleasure bryn. Yeah, good little stunt. I've found the other episodes now. Peace.
Yeah, all Wye catchment there Bryn - Severn catchment is further North. That went quick - I enjoyed the tour especially when you were on the Claerwen Road. My dear late twin and I hiked up there and dossed in the toilet in 2016. We walked the river Irfon to the Wye the next day. It is a fantastic structure - great view from the top. Well, enjoying the series. Mark
Cheers Mark, gosh, the toilet sounds interesting! I find it fascinating how these rivers end up the way they do, will attempt to find the source of the Wye, I failed to do so last month when I got lost in the mist!
@@wombatting96 A pleasure Bryn. Yeah, it worked for the night. I hope you find the source. it's not to far from the path at the top there.
I enjoyed all of that Bryn. For sure a super cool view at the Hafod and interesting how you remembered it years later. I love the Cwmystwyth and the Elan so I'll be watching the series. All the best for the week ahead. Mark P.S hiked the Elan from source to the Wye - video on my channel if interested. Peace.
Thanks for commenting Mark and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Checked out your video and channel and liked what I saw. Subbed, best, Bryn
@@wombatting96 A real pleasure Bryn. Thanks for checking the video out - it's a few years back. And thanks the sub - see you out there.

@KhurshidsChannel thanks for your kind comment and subscribing, I hope you enjoy future videos, will check out your channel!
Everywhere looks clean and fresh ,and the cycling infrastructure superior to ours!
@WessThomas it took some getting used to, I probably underappreciated it!
Did you break the speed limit down Penglais Hill??😲
Errr..... I was looking where I was going, not at the speedo!
Have no idea how I got this on reccomendation page, but its vrey nice! Like to see how people filming themself on a non-sponsored bikes in small towns, little trips and not worrying about 4k tv-quality videos, just filming.
@isaacrosenberg3795 Thank you for nice comment, glad you enjoyed the video! Best regards, Bryn
Looks like half of a red cabbage in the water!!!!!🤷♀
Cheers, I had no idea!
your video popped up in suggested videos. I love the UK and have been fantasizing about selling up my extremely dull and overpriced house and moving to Wales where I could live in a village or old seaside resort town. It will probably only ever be a pipe dream, but I've been trying to learn some Welsh anyway. If you take requests, I'm a big history fan, a lover of architecture, castles, old ruins, the countryside, and anything with an interesting story.
Welcome to the channnel! I'm a fan of those things too so will be making videos on them when I'm better for sure. If you decide to come to Wales, good luck, it's a nice place to live
3:10 Before the rocks arrived to protect the sea wall, this is how big swell waves looked. Last saw waves like this in the early '90's
Quitescary to think about! Thanks for watching
What a lovely church!, Great ride as well, deserves more comments and subscribers!!!😉🙂👍⛰
Great vlog, really enjoyed it. What do you use to edit these?
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I use Capcut, the free version
Enjoying the new aerial views of your cycle routes ,gives a better perspective of the terrain .look forward to seeing more!🚲🚲

Hey sir, would you recommend Aberystwyth University? I got an offer and im confused
Hi, generally I would recommend but I don't know the specifics of your situation, depends on the course, where you like to live etc
@@wombatting96 Hi sir, so situation is that I'm a international student from Bangalore city, India. I got few offers and I narrowed down to Aberystwyth (Msc data science),and Solent Southampton (Msc applied AI and data science) I gotta pay fees asap to start my visa process for September intake. Hence I thought to ask your thoughts on Aberystwyth. And I'm open to both the city and countryside, I assume Aberystwyth has less part time jobs.
You're right that Aber has fewer jobs than Southampton, but there's always something going. The uni itself employs a few students as tutors, in the cafes, as cleaners, etc, but limits hours to 20 hours per week during term time for postgraduates, but I think the visa limit is the same. There aren't a great many university level jobs for graduates however, you would have more options in a city afterwards. I chose Aber mostly because I prefer to live in the countryside, but still only 3 or so hours from Birmingham on the train. The Southampton course looks better to me because of AI but it's not my field so I honestly couldn't give a proper answer. But our new Vice Chancellor is keen on AI as far as I'm aware. I think Aber has the better quality of life, everything is campus based and the town is close so you will be in walking distance of most things. And its a peaceful town, little crime, very safe compared to the UK cities. Definitely recommend as a place to live. Accommodation is cheaper than most places, but there isn't much of it about (lots of people vs small town) I work on the uni accommodation cleaning team, and the rooms vary from old and basic to modern and expensive, but its all well managed. I know a few Indians who have come to Aber and have loved it. I wish you the best of luck with your decision. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
@@wombatting96 wow sir, I'm eternally grateful and thankful 🙏 for your valuable insights, your detailed explanation and amazing analysis! I'm truly sorry to take so much of your valuable time from your busy schedule. It was so thoughtful of you and thank you so much for your wishes, my best wishes to your masters journey as well, may you shine and come out in flying colours in your desired course and field! So sir based on my research, Between Solent university and Aberystwyth university, I found Aberystwyth gives me a free accommodation cmrt mawr is the name I guess, which is quite okay! Then part time jobs I'm happy with your amazing analysis, I guess we can find part time jobs in Aberystwyth in a month right sir? And coming to the course Aberystwyth says their course is more complex, research oriented purely into data science and you're absolutely right they don't have AI and the vice chancellor is obsessed with AI and I would say even Elon Musk and others are too! and Aber says they help the students and number 1 in students satisfaction etc... Whereas Solent university is a bit new campus near city centre in Southampton and their course is also new, hence I don't really know about the reputation of solent university but I assume it's decent based on the city Southampton and it's there for 2 decades now. Solent university also says they have a placement year, after masters which is an extra 6 months after masters but It's conditional I assume as many don't get placement or jobs on a guarantee I guess. They say, the placement year won't cost anything as they have already increased the fees about 3k British pounds to international students. Solent university has emailed me today saying, you gotta pay today or the offer will be withdrawn. So I'm dead confused sir, that's why I reached out to you and I'm truly grateful for your beautiful response and a detailed analysis 🙏 Thank you sir, have a wonderful weekend and happy sunday wishes to you sir!
@@wombatting96 thank you so much sir for such a detailed analysis of Aberystwyth, Aber uni and the life in aber! That's so thoughtful of you, I'm truly grateful for your valuable insights and your kindness sir! So which course have you opted for? My best wishes 🙏 to you as well sir!, may you shine and come out with flying colours!! I was quite happy to hear about part time jobs, so I believe we can find a part time job in Aberystwyth in a month approximately right sir? also what are food options we have sir? Are there Indian restaurants or food available? Coming to accommodation I might mostly get that free accommodation called CMRT MAWR I guess, is that good sir? A room and a private rest room I suppose, I'm not sure about the hygiene and stuff You're absolutely right sir, I completely agree with your amazing analysis!! So based on my research, Aber uni representatives and faculty said to me that their course is a bit research oriented and they would help in all sorts of ways, but you're right sir, solent university Southampton course sounds good as it has AI as well, as you mentioned the vice chancellor and even Elon Musk are quite into AI... But I'm not sure about the reputation of the solent university in Southampton, solent says they also offer placement year of 6 months after masters of 1 year but I'm not sure it's a guaranteed placement, I assume it's either conditional or internship or sometimes none of them. Aber definitely is historic and beautiful, so is Southampton city. But sir, do you feel that the solent university has a good reputation in Southampton or in the UK in general? So ultimately solent has asked me to pay ASAP by tomorrow and Aber too is askingme to pay ASAP, for me to reach this September intake. Hence I'm dead confused sir, my family also says leave soon but unable to choose between the two and time is ticking. Once again thank you so much sir, for your valuable insights, I'm truly grateful and thankful for your amazing analysis! It was so thoughtful and kind of you!! Have a wonderful weekend sir and happy sunday wishes to you sir!!
I think on my thorn raven that would take me six days to do the whole trip, I take my hat off to you all who can hammer out the miles,
