I am familiar with the version Judy sang on that appears on "A Young Person's Guide to King Crimson", and of course, the version sang by Greg Lake on the first King Crimson. First time hearing this take on the song, and I very much enjoyed it as well.
She first sang this song with Giles, Giles, & Fripp. GG&F was esentially King Crimson before they changed their name. Ian McDonald wrote the song and brought in Judy to sing it on the second take they did of the song. Both versions are on RUclips. They sound closer to this than the version that wound up on the first KC album. Peter Giles stepped away from GG&F when they recorded they changed their name and recorded the first KC album. Lake was brought in to fill his shoes. Then Lake left and Giles stepped back in for part of the second KC album. BTW - The two Giles brothers and McDonald did a side project during that period simply called McDonald & Giles. It is on RUclips. It is a wonderful album that reflects much of the style they explored with GG&F and KC. Peter Giles dose some wonderful bass work on it.
After listening to this, I can bear the contemporary music coming out these days.
This version has its own strange magic not at all diminished by the KC version.
