Man, the terminology is loose. "Go and get us another one if you will". Do you mean Load & Return? Also the first drop: air attack specifically said "heel to head" on the right flank, and the airtanker made the run in the opposite direction. Was there a change of plans that was edited out of the video?
My experience in the US is that the IC and on-scene air attack make quick decisions regarding the need for additional airtankers, but the behind-the-scenes process of approving, filling and dispatching those assets is extremely cumbersome and delay-prone.
True if outside CA. The ECC/GACC intercom system is something CA got right and should be adopted across the west. The difference in how fast you can get orders out and AC moving is staggering. Source: have done AC dispatch in CA and OR.
You can’t get training modules this fantastic for Initial Attack on air attack. This gives everyone an idea of how fires are being sized up,named, and initialized order for more heavy reinforcements from the air. Fantastic video with good highlights on radio transmission and how to use the radio correctly. There’s so many training subjects here that you may want to consider sending the video in to US Forest Service to be added to the training program. It could be used in several different areas of training!
I believe they are using this the same as military aviation with IP meaning Initial Point. The last navigation way point before an aircraft begins its bombing run (or fire retardant drop). So they were setting a navigation point for the tankers 5 miles away where they would hold until released to make their drops.
We are all very aware of the one mistake in the video. It makes you look like you were looking for something to complain about. It’s really rude and makes you look like an absolute ass
With good teamwork, you can achieve anything. This video is a bunch of good examples of exactly that. Nice work fire guys in the air. You're worth my tax dollars. Thanks very much.

Gimp - there are those with better answers, but there are tons of different ways to get into this career. Not knowing your age, and willingness to slug it out, I’d say your very best “in” is to start with a Volunteer fire dept. get certified there and then immediately jump into wild fire training, while still doing the Vol work. At the same time doing all of the above, spend some time working toward a private pilot cert. if you are starting from zero, this is not an easy path, especially if you are doing all of this on your own.
When you say base station, do you mean the Radio Test Jig below the radio? If so, it appears to be p/n 04T139. As for where you can get one, you could try Dallas Avionics, they're a licensed dealer for TiL.
Great radio traffic. No BS here. Just the critical business.

Think I’d a went down hill on that second drop🤷🏻♂️

I reference this video often when I go on HMGB assignments. Thanks for putting this together.
Absolute professionalism on this IA, thank you so much for the radio traffic and the video. I can't get enough of this.
I guess that one way to do it.
Giving the IC option based off pilots recommendations? Uh.
That Farley flyin?
I guess I missed it. Where was this fire located?
Somewhere in the vicinity of Casper, WY.
I would love to see a video from a cal fire air attack
great work, thanks for share
Beautifully synced 👌🏽
What does IP stand for?

That’s correct, they can also use it on larger fires as a check in point for aircraft coming from far away
@@robsalisbury2550 ok interesting thanks. Being on the ground I guess I miss some things

Отличная работа, коллеги!
who... who disliked this
Why are they fighting this one
Probably didnt want the strain on resources by letting it go. But who knows
It was refreshing to hear something besides good line for once on the drop starting at 1:55. I knew they couldnt be perfect all the time.
SAME lol.
excelente job
I could watch this stuff for hours, thanks for posting all the great videos.
This is for model A, (model B has different programming methods)
different how? they are basically the exact same as far as my experience?

Apply to one of the company’s that do it! There a few company’s that have air attack platforms
An informational series of videos on aerial attack on fire missions. No hype music, just calm professionalism.

Thanks for the upload. Can you tell me the best path to take to become an air attack pilot?
How do you get into fire aviation? More specifically how do you go about attending this academy

Cool videos
Where was this at? And what fire was it? It's awesome to see everything before crews get on scene
Utah, I’d assume southern Utah, as they were talking about reload at Mesquite and Cedar City
Cool@-@ >_< ^-^
Awesome to hear all that radio traffic!
Great video , thanks for posting. Can you tell me where to buy the base station you have? We want to utilize our spare unit for training.
