I wish the 7400 had indicator lights for FM / AM / PHONO / TAPE /AUX like the Pioneer receivers of this era. Also the knobs seem to be a little lower quality chrome polish than the Pioneers. But the 7400 AM & FM tuners blow the doors off comparable Pioneers.

I thought the Yamaha sounded the best. Have the Kenwood and Yamaha gone thru a complete capacitor replacement? Older caps can make the amp sound very flat.

This is the mid eighties when HK Citation lost it's edge. The 12' 19' and 16 are the ones to have. These also had the worst binding posts for the speaker wire on the plant!

Attention! You've got the large selector knob in the wrong place! Exchange it with the smaller knob at volume!👌

Replace all those small Blue Electrolytic Capacitors by Mitsubishi they tend to leak.

Sony sounded most forward. The sansui sounded muted compared to the others and the jvc is the most adjustable. I have one and that 5 band eq works well. I think they are well built receiver's. I had a Sony sts v5 and it was a good sounding receiver.

I like the JVC with equaliser. Listen with headphone. Difficult to decide with pop music. Jazz music is a better choice. What's your preherence among the 3 receivers. Cheers.
