We had this puzzle for years and never played it until now while cleaning to make room for Christmas gifts our boys (ages 5 and 7) just received. We had a tough time reading the instructions, but the video was very helpful, and now they are both having a blast trying to figure it out!

Thanks for the video. I can solve the small slam from A to G up to level 5 on each letter without assistance but I am really struggling to solve levels 6 to 8 for each letter. Sure, I can look on the internet and get the solution but that isn't really what I am looking for. What I would love to know is, is there a set of fundamental principles which can be used to approach the solving of any given penta? I would love to be able to use logic and not just fumble around until I come across the solution purely by chance! I would appreciate it immensely if someone could point me in the right direction please.
