My Leonardo Flex Fine nib had no squeaking to it when I wrote with it on old tomoe river paper, but on sanzen paper, I hear squeaking. I think the squeaking depends on the smoothness of the paper and the pen's feedback/smoothness against it. Your pelikan looks very smooth to me, I can't see or hear scratchy feedback. I really hate when pens squeak. The feedback on your TR paper was much more soothing to the ears. Glad you took a chance with testing it on other paper! It's always one of the trifecta that causes an issue (not just the pen), so always good to test all 3!

love the spreads! I read digital most of the time & listen to audiobooks, but my kids don't, so we go to the library every 3 weeks

What a gorgeous pen dear friend. Loved the comparison with the other pens. I experienced also that paper is an important aspect for the writing performance of pens. I hope it will write better every time you write with it. Love your lettering also.

I have a M200 in medium nib and it’s not scratchy like a kaweco in fine nib. It’s not a smooth writer like pilot custom 823 but found it okay.

I have a new Pelikan M200 and mine doesn’t write very well at all. It is very scratchy on the right side of the nib. But if I draw lines to the left it is super smooth. Holding it for very long does make my hand cramp. And I think it is because you are having to drag the pen along and the scratchiness I can’t stand. Makes me sad because I loved the aesthetic of this pen. If I were close to a nibsmith I would have it tuned, but unfortunately I am not. I’m not even near a pen store. I may have to let this one go.

I've always found that nibs need to wear in to my own hand, a process which is fastest with gold nibs and slowest with stainless steel. The downside is that stainless steel never wears out, while gold does. I wish my handwriting was as good as yours. I write at the "legible" standard, and can reach "regular" or even "pleasing to the eye" if I take my time. Yours is beautiful, even at a very natural writing speed. As I was brought up in the age when ballpoint pens were still frowned upon and in some school classes even banned, I can't even claim unfamiliarity or late learning as an excuse, and I struggled for years to even reach "legible" as a child. I also love brown ink though, and default to Octopus Karamell for everyday use, usually in a Sheaffer closed 1.5mm 14k nib, so old that I can't remember the model, but it has the number 585 on the nib, and an open 1mm nib Jinhao 18k GP X450. Your Pelikan M22 is lovely, and even works as a way to identify the colour of ink if you use several different ones.

⁠ it is tempting to get them all! I’d like a larger 800 or 1000 but settled on the 600 which is really large enough for me, had the gold nib, and cellulose body. That’s really what I was looking for. It is extraordinary! Writes unlike any other pen in my collection and could be my favourite!!! Don’t tell my other pens!

I have two Pelikan 200s and love them! The gold nib on the 600 was even better. Even my Montblanc a needed a couple of writing sessions to warm up to me!

Thank you for sharing such beautiful pages. I have used a Hobonichi Cousin Avec this year but next year I plan to use the original size, so it was really nice to see how pages can be decorated with space still to journal. I need to get myself a stamp shammy but maybe I will get it from Cafe Analogue when I am in NL in December, then it will have extra special meaning too, although I think I will be staying in Eindhoven, it might be far from Amsterdam but at least postage will be cheaper than to London!! 😜 thank you for another great video, Varsha. 🥰
