DJI Osmo Pocket 3 with Freewell ND Filters!

The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is an amazing camera. The capabilities are just outright impressive and it's quickly becoming my goto vlogging gear. It does have a fixed aperture so to really take control of the manual settings you will need a set of ND filters and this pack can really support in just about all circumstances. • @bobfiore8
      @bobfiore8 3 месяца назад

      Sorry I didn’t answer sooner. You can contact them through there site and see if it’s something repairable. The only time I’ve ever experienced the yellow light it’s when the battery connection to the board came loose? Good luck and thank you

    • @jonathanmorand8893
      @jonathanmorand8893 3 месяца назад

      Yeah, from research they say it can't be fixed and all the usual stuff. However, if it's been put together it can be repaired. The real problem seems to come from the software on the battery management system. Even if i fix it, it won't work. On my replacement i had to reset by shorting 2 memory pins together, it worked and didn't have issues. I tried this method on the other battery with yellow breathing code, didn't do much. I'm not savvy enough to diagnose electrical problems or fix battery cells. But i think it can be done. The code says it's a safety for overheating. But the methods suggested (cooling and then charging) don't work the board doesn't do anything besides showing the code when plugged in, no response when pushing the power button when unplugged. This is why i tried the reset.

    Hi Bob, great review !!! i live in Canada, just north of Toronto and just last weekend took my Canadian Drone Pilot Exam and passed. I have owned a DJI Mini 2 for the last two years and overall it has been a great drone. The 4k video at 30fps is pretty good but the photos are pretty bad. I own a canon 7d apc and a canon 5d mkiii full frame camera. Now that i have my licence to fly a drone over 250 grams and up to 25 kg, I'm going to be buying a larger more capable drone both in flight characteristics and camera quality. I will be traveling around Canada and the USA starting next year as my wife and I will be retiring and want a drone that is capable of producing higher quality video and photography and be able to handle those windy days. I'm torn between two drones, the Air 3 and the Mavic 3 Pro. While the Air 3 has a lot of great features and great price, I'm reluctant to buy another drone with 12 mp Cameras. There not really 48 mp all they are doing is taking an already small 12 mp pixel and making it 4 times smaller. On the other hand I love the Images and video that come out of that Hasselblad 24mm camera and having the 70mm and 166mm as well. I have two question for you Bob that will help in my decision as to which drone i will buy. # 1-you mentioned that all three cameras now can shoot in D-log M, it that the case or do you have the Cinie version ? # 2- i've heard not good things about the RC-1 controller, that include, overheating, screen dimming do to overheating, sluggish performance and most importantly poor signal strength to the drone. i can't afford to buy the RC Pro at 1250.00 Canadian but having a good connection is very important to me. The Air 3 has Ocusync 4 and it would be nice if DJI made the RC-2 work on the Mavic 3 pro even if it only was at a Ocusync 3 level as I believe that those external antennas make all the difference. What controller have you been using and what experience have you had with it. I'm really pumped about getting this new drone but want to make sure i'M making the right choice. Thanks: Craig

    • @bobfiore8
      @bobfiore8 5 месяцев назад

      Hey Craig, congrats on passing the exam and good luck with the retirement and traveling. That to me sounds very good. As for the two questions. I do not have the Cinn version and yes they all shoot in D-LogM. I find the ability to have 3 different perspectives without even moving the drone amazing. I do like having the Hasselblad with the adjustable aperture for certain scenarios. So for me I love this drone. I originally used the RC-N1 and wasn’t happy, not with overheating or signal issues. I just don’t like using my phone with it. I been using the RC pro, no issue at all with it but to your point it’s pricy. I was using the DJI RC with the Mini 3 pro and never had any remote control issues. I hope this answers your questions. Good luck and Thank you for checking out my videos and channel.

    • @craigcollard5341
      @craigcollard5341 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks Bob, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions and I think I am going to go with the Mavic 3 pro. I also like the idea of having the 3 different camera focal lengths as I can see it adding the opportunity for being much more creative not to mention the times where you can't get in as close to what your shooting. I also want to use the drone for areal photography and from what I've seen the Hasselblad camera produces really good 20mp photos that are worthy of printing. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to future videos. I also have a RUclips channel, so if you have a chance, check it out Bob and subscribe so in April when I pick up the Mavic 3 pro you will see my first videos with it. Can't wait !!!

    • @bobfiore8
      @bobfiore8 6 месяцев назад

      Hello there is allot to consider. If you’re interested in photos as well as videos then the action cameras may not be what your looking for, they’re designed for action video and you’re not going to get separation from them (depth of field). The A6700 is a top of the line DSLR in my opinion and is a very good hybrid when it comes to shooting either pics or vids. However then there are lens to consider based on your shooting needs. Any and all camera gear can get pricey very quickly. I apologize I don’t have a straight forward answer for you. I would say do more research and narrow it down. 50/50 video and pics, a6700 very good and you can get one with a 16-50mm kit lens as a start to figure what other lenses you may need. I can be a big investment. I would say research some more YT reviews to see what best fits your needs. Good luck!

    The term you were looking for in regards to the USS Lionfish is "hot bunking" and it was standard practice on submarines until relatively recently. I do believe smaller surface vessels also used hot bunking too. Greta video and you definitely should go back and spend a whole day doing in depth tours if all the ships there. FYI, the USS Massachusetts is a South Dakota class battleship with her sister ship down in Mobile Alabama, a ship I HIGHLY recommend visiting.

  • @axysdnyd
    @axysdnyd 7 месяцев назад

    I visited the sister ship to the USS Massachusetts, the USS Alabama. A truly magnificent ship and such a great experience. I also toured the USS Drum, a WWII diesel electric sub just like the one you went aboard. I was also super fortunate to have toured the USS Clamagore in Charleston SC before she was sadly scrapped due to the cost of maintenance and repair. I was saddened to hear the USS Clamagore had been scrapped but not totally surprised as I had talked to several volunteers who worked on restoring her and they had said the repairs needed were far too costly for the museum to afford. While I definitely understood why, it's just horrible to think such a significant ship met with the fate of being scrapped. I encourage everyone to go visit the museum ships around the country and appreciate the history those ships represent.

    • @bobfiore8
      @bobfiore8 7 месяцев назад

      Thank you and I did learn of the sister ship from another comment and I couldn’t agree with you more. If possible everyone should visit these museum ships and learn their history. For more it’s so much info that I couldn’t possibly get it all in one visit. I would say in two visits and still allot more for me to learn. I’m just trying to pay them and all those the served the honor and respect deserve when making these videos. I hope those that can’t make it to the ship can enjoy the video but if given the opportunity a video can’t do it enough justice as if seen in person.

    I don’t know what made me think of “Big Mamie” but I searched and found your video. I stayed a weekend on her back in the mid 80’s (guessing 83-84) as a cubscout. It was an incredible experience as a 10-11 yr old. I can remember it still like yesterday. There’s a spot (scar) on the deck and it’s pointed out with a sign where it took a small bit of fire from enemy artillery from the French battleship the Jean Bart off the coast of French North Africa. (Was surprised you didn’t point it out). Big Mamie returned fire and struck the French Jean Bart 5 times and also sank 2 destroyers. Big Mamie is also known as firing the last shells “in anger” at the end of WW2. There’s some real history behind the USS Massachusetts. I went back 20 yrs later to tour again with my kids in the early 2000’s, my kids were still really young though and probably do not have recollection of it. Lol…it was just as cool, but seemed a lot smaller when I went back the second time at 30 yrs old compared to a wide eyed 11 yr old. Great video, well done, thanks for bringing back a few memories.

    Nice opening view of Sakonnet Light. I'm still trying to figure where to park/fly from for that one. I'm mostly leaning toward the Air 3 as my next drone, at half the price of the Mavic 3 Pro. The main advantage the M3P has is the 7x tele, but reports on that are mixed as to quality. How do you find it compared to the other two cameras?

    • @bobfiore8
      @bobfiore8 9 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the kind words and checking out my channel. The 7X lens for me is a very cool option. The upgrades they did to it, even with just the firmware on the original Mavic 3 I was using it in some outdoor ceremonies and it did the job. I don’t think everyone has a need for it but those that will use it won’t be disappointed. Having these 3 lenses on this one done makes it so complete.

I’ve flown all over New England and Upstate New York and always had a rock solid signal in the areas I’ve flown. I’ve never once lost signal, never once. So I’m not sure you’re issues with it. Sorry to hear about that. It’s caused by the cells becoming unbalanced. I’ve heard of some rare cases of just leaving it plugged in for a week or so and it’ll balance but that never worked for me. Contact the boosted guys and they can reset it or if your interested in a replacement. Either way I would get the amnesia chip installed to prevent it from happening again.

      Thank you for the kind words and checking out my channel. I do find myself using the All Day pack more often and the Bright day when I’m shootings around the water, boats, etc. depends on your needs. If you find yourself mostly in glare situations then the polarized Bright Day set is good to have. Otherwise the ND’s for the situation for me.

    Hey Bob, I also watched your recent, excellent review of the PolarPro filter set. I know that you cannot indicate which filter set you consider "better"; in fact and indeed you should not, nor would I ask you to do so. Additionally, such an assessment is subjective and also a matter of taste & preference. However, I am wondering though if you can indicate whether there exists a color influence of either of these two, very fine filter sets. That is, does either set affect the color of the video in any way (post editing processes and polarizing considerations aside)? For example, does one set make the color slightly "warmer" or slightly "cooler"? Do the two filter sets affect the video colors equally, not at all, conversely, etc.? This is a purely objective assessment and is unrelated to preference. Whether one prefers warmer tones, neutral tones or cooler tones is not my question, it is simply whether one set or the other indeed influences color in any way other than in level. Unlike you, who is truly expert in drone photography, and who has produced stellar results (and in professional capacities I would imagine), I am more of a hack lol. Though quad photography is beginning to become more & more of a developing passion for me, um, I have a long way to go. Thus, at this stage, I would not [yet need to] purchase two sets of filters, PP & Freewell. Although I realize that you received these sets pro-bono for review reasons, for me it would be better to balance my needs versus any potential color influences (if any) that these two excellent sets may present prior to selecting one for purchase. Thanks for your patience with my questions, but most importantly thanks for your incredible videos & quad photography!

      Hey Popeye I truly appreciate all the kind words. I’ve never really done a side by side comparison. I did use the PP VND with the A2S but I do use Freewell for all my other gear from the rest of my drones to the GoPro’s, etc. I really like quality Ave dynamic range I get with them. I also like the build quality of Freewell. I’m not saying all other brands don’t have good build quality, I just never worry about it with Freewell. Also Freewell has reasonable pricing in my opinion. Anyway I hope this helps and have fun flying and capturing your own amazing shots.

    Hey Bob, Really great & informative video, and you truly nailed that still image of the cityscape during sunset. My question is this: PolorPro advised me that the weight of their ND/PL filters is 2.5 grams each, and that the weight of their VND filters is 2.85 grams each. Inasmuch as this would seem to be a relatively considerable increase versus, for example, Freewell's individual ND/PL filters (@ 1.9 grams each), have you encountered any error messages related to the Air 2S's gimbal during and/or related to you use of these apparently excellent PP filters? Thanks much...

      @@bobfiore8 Hey Bob, thanks much for you reply. That certainly eases my mind just a bit with regard to using the PP filter set with my Air 2S. I do have a [sort of] related question though: I also watched your recent, excellent review of the Freewell filter set. I know that those filters weigh even less than the PP, therefore the weight issues are not my concern. I am wondering though if you notice any color influence of either of these two, fine filter sets. • @bobfiore8

      It depends on your situations. Yes it’ll work with vertical as well. But if you’re working with areas like water or ambient lighting then the polarized will help reduce the glare and flare. If not then the traditional nd filters should be fine.
