I loved eight out of the nine books. The 9th book, The First Four Years, was published in 1971 I believe, by the guy who inherited the copy-write and was responsible for the TV series. But the unedited manuscript was found after Laura's death and is more of a serous book. Laura's daughter, Rose, actually edited the first eight books and is largely responsible for the feel and tone of the series, Rose helped keep the books light hearted for the most part. For example, Caroline, Laura's mom, had a child who only lived for a month. And one sad fact about life for homesteaders was that he child mortality rate was off the charts! Thanks for the review!

I remember reading these as a kid in the classroom. We don't often think about how our childhood book choices shaped us. Thanks for this. I hope to reread some childhood favourites soon for the purposes of reflection. It's been hard to make time, considering all the exciting new releases.

Although I do love this series in my opinion it’s not better than Narnia, Harry Potter, a series of unfortunate events, lord of the rings, and beyonders

It was one of the most surprisingly good books I've ever read. Frank Peretti as a speaker and Frank Peretti as a writer seem so different from one another. I'm actually afraid to read 'Piercing the Darkness' it was so good.

My mum used to read me these books when I was a child. probably one of the reasons why I read so much now! definitely take a break and come back to it, I imagine I’d need a little while to read it now !!! I completely agree with what you said about turning this into a history lesson for kids with the racial injustice in this book. ❤ happy reading x

I can only think of 1984 as disturbing. One read was enough for me.

I grew up reading this series and I couldn’t even tell you how many times I read it. Lol I love it so so much!! That being said, By the Shores of Silver Lake (and Farmer Boy) was always my least favorite. lol starting with the book after that were my absolute faves…she does experience town friendships and romance in the older books, and even gets married.

I read these books growing up with my grandmother. She actually took me to the real site where The Banks of Plum Creek was so these books hold a lot of nostalgia. My favorites are On the Banks of Plum Creek and The Long Winter. If I read these books to my children it would be a great opportunity to discuss how America came to be and who was hurt in the process. I don’t think that devalues the books when read with some guidance. I can understand you needing a break though, I read them over the course of a year or two here and there.

I actually did a whole review on all the little house books last year if you wanna check it out when you’re done. It’s full of spoilers but it’s one of my favorite videos!

The Little House books are what gave me my love for reading. The next couple of books are my favorite. Of course I started reading them in like the fourth grade. They are of course a fictionalized story of Laura’s life. There is romance! I am assuming that you have read Farmer Boy ( it’s the second book technically)- it is the story of someone you will see in future books.

I've only ever read the short picture book version of Little House in the Big Woods. I'm sure I would have liked the series when I was younger! I don't know if I will ever read it at this point though. I have seen some of the TV show so I know some things that happen. I don't think they move so often in the show, as far as I remember. It is sad about Mary 😭 And yes there is some romance, but Idk what it's like in the book.

I saw your RUclips channel and understood that Very nice video on your channel, and I really enjoyed it. One thing I noticed is that according to your channel, your channel videos are not watched and subscribed. You need to optimize your channel and do video SEO to reach your target audience. Otherwise, if you upload videos to your channel throughout the year, none of your videos will go viral. If your channel is a little optimized and the videos are SEO, your channel will rank very fast and grow. Are you interested to do it?

Your daughter is so cute!! Her little voice hehe. MISTBORN!! So good!!! I've read just the original three. I plan on reading Elantris next and then Warbreaker. Hopefully this year and next year I plan on starting the Stormlight Archive.

I can’t wait to read Defiant! I am starting it next week. I really enjoyed Mistborn Era 1 but don’t think I’ll bother with Era 2. I’ve never been that interested in the cowboy type setting anyways. I’m still on the fence with whether or not to start Stormlight. It is disappointing when his world building and stories are so great but I am also glad for things like Enclave who are putting out so much clean sci fi and fantasy that have been great too. I plan to still follow everything he puts out but just be more cautious before picking new things up just like with all secular writers.

Some authors are so talented how they can create entire universes and the way they can weave stories and series together. I wish I was that talented!

That is worrisome that Sanderson's new books are moving in the unclean direction 😭 Skyward was so good and I was excited to hear about a spin off series in the works!
