“Kalavaahini” is an arts Trust created with the purpose of fostering excellence in classical dance. The activities of the Trust engage a multi-dimensional approach ranging from practice of art techniques to inter-disciplinary dialogue, archiving and dissemination of creative processes.
The pursuit of excellence in dance requires dedication over several years and is sustained and nourished by the passion and commitment of the artist. The platforms available to present meaningful work in the classical genre are few. To ensure art and artists create an enduring legacy we need the informed support of philanthropists and well-wishers.

The Unseen Sequence - with English Subtitles
Bharatanatyam - one of India’s most profound classical arts - is being reinterpreted, renewed, and invigorated through the work of an artist rooted in tradition but with a uniquely contemporary sensibility - Malavika Sarukkai.
The Unseen Sequence is, however, not simply about Malavika Sarukkai; it deliberates the valuable connections and departures that the artist makes from a hallowed and, often, unforgiving tradition.

What a beautiful and deeply intelligent performance! The motif towards the end of what I imagined was the sun riding his chariot as if to herald sunrise, brought the experience of the Sun Temple at Konark back to life for me. Thank you for this novel performance!
