What's next for the React Compiler? - Sathya Gunasekaran
The React Compiler was open-sourced at React Conf earlier this year, marking a significant milestone. Since then, we've implemented numerous improvements and optimizations. This talk will examine the valuable community feedback that has shaped these enhancements and explore the new optimizations that improve both performance and developer experience. We'll also discuss the next steps in the evolution of the React Compiler and the open source release process.
Sathya is a software engineer on the React core team at Meta. Previously, he worked on the V8 JavaScript compiler at Google.

Empathy-Driven Innovation: Building a Culture of Technical Empathy in the Software Industry
IT may stimulate writing shitty code in hope Compiler optimizes it enough to not be a problem
We need to know if using the compiler is even worth it. Are there any valid benchmarks out there?
This compiler is a long time coming! It does feel like we could finally start writing a lot less boilerplate React code with better performance and mental overhead. Other frameworks like Svelte and Vue already compile away a lot of complexity already. Now just gotta wait another year for the release, bug fixes and tooling to catch up. Then finally I can upgrade NextJS with React 19 and this new compiler 😅🙏
Great nida. Great speech very informative
Web Worker speech is good one
Can you mention the timestamps?
from 7:30:30
Thanks Garima for the wonderful presentation. can you please share your code also if possible
Keep posting ❤
The example at 04:30 may not be appropriate since videos prop for VideoTab is an Array i.e. Object itself and on each re-render of VideoTab's parent its referential identity will change. Causing the useMemo to retrigger again.
Super
"Compilers are the new frameworks" is starting to age like fine wine
Svelte did this like 8 years ago. Awesome to see u'all catch up so fast.
Can you please share source code
This vid is not only about codesandbox,, amazing
Any Android related guides here as I'm done with IOS side? Thanks
Excellent
Great content, really interesting!
💝
Moral of the story: Svelte is better
I watched the talk. There's literally nothing here about react forget, all he's talking just the basic react stuff
It’s Amazingly Amazing 🎉
this talk could have gone so much better than this

❤❤❤❤
It was really insightful.
One of the best Gen AI talks
Nice work Larter
Great session guys! informative.
Hello! I really liked the presentation, but I had one question: Is it worth a Plugin System where you need to modify the code every time you want to use a new plugin? It makes sense? Is there a way to upload plugins and install them without modifying the code? Hug from Brazil.
Yes, that's also one of the differences between plugins and packages. Plugins do provide some way to modify them or leave them unedited if not needed.
I am 100% sure that 99.9% of whoever is reading this comment have never seen me before (well because software engineers are not very good at finances 😄). I myself am a React Developer and proudly working with Publicis Sapient since Jan 2020 (just before the pandemic hit 😬) I was in love with Angular since 2016 until I met React somewhere in 2019 and since then React have been giving me goose bumps in whatever way one want to work with it. Never seen any frontend technology this flexible and robust. Not sure how and why I missed joining this event this year but surely wish to join next year 🎉 Great Job everyone! 🙌🏽
Thanks for the insights Sathya
Thanks for such an insightful session, Sathya!⚡
Learning about React who himself works on React Meta team 💯
Hey ! Nice to meet you at React India. It’s really great to meet the person who is part of React TEAM.
Got to learn new so many new things, thanks for this talk Satya! 🙌
It's nice but I wish react actually simplified instead of adding hidden complexity like this. Maybe it needs an angular 2 moment of it's own. These principles have proven successful but doubling down on poor API design is not good. Now we have to debug react forget's output in addition to hand authored code
Not sure why would you debug React Forget's output? You currently don't debug the final output that React gets transpiled to so not sure why this particular case would be any different?
Never heard such confusing and overcomplicated talk.
Talk is perfect and clean. Maybe you are not smart enough.
I guess compilers *are* complicated
@@steigerwalddaniel His talk all over the place...some people just know how to present concepts than others. Maybe this is first presentation ever...
Thanks for the insights Sathya!
How to obtain a pass for the next year React event?
