As for if there was a White Entertainment Television there already were many that were, at very least at their beginning, founded and run completely by Caucasians. In that sense there is, and was, no need for it or for one to be labeled in that way. On the other side, BET had a reason and labeling it Black Entertainment Television, and this is speaking from my point of view, was not only an identifying mark but also of pride. It was a monumental achievement, which you might be able to consider why that would give that much more reason for it's naming.
