Pulled Over with Concealed Carry
Pulled over today bringing my girlfriend home from oral surgery. I had my handgun on me as well, overall an uneventful encounter.

If you were doing the speed limit and he clocked you going 13mph faster, then he likely used what's called a "pop burst" on his radar gun, which the manual says not to issue citations based solely on the pop burst. I would have contested this on the spot, and used my dash camera as evidence that I was indeed doing the speed limit and the officer was using his equipment improperly.

Im sorry but damn I feel for cops. I am huge Back the Blue and you can see the instinct to veer towards his weapon as anything can go wring in gun country. I wish everyone who gets pulled over can act this way and it would prevent so many tragedies.
Honest opinion? You took WAY too long to mention you had a CCW. You open with that right after the cop comes up.

@@Amir_Nassir It's the responsibility of a CCW holder to tell police you hold one and whether you're armed or not. Cops don't like surprises. If they know that you have one they'll try to get you to admit it. They understand someone may be flustered when pulled over but that's the responsibility of having one.

I will not break my neck to talk to them. I'm hard of hearing , so I tell them move where I can read your lips, if they do not I do not answer anything.

This was handled well, but I'd mention that you have a CCW permit before anything else.

Some state laws require you to inform if you’re carrying. Others don’t. I live in a state that doesn’t, so I do not tell them. It’s none of their business
Youre not required to disclose youre carrying nor do you have to answer any questions.

I don’t get it in my case. I’m in California. I did exactly what you did except the cops brought 4 additional squad cars and guns drawn at me until I disarmed. One of the cops is a friend of mine on scene and apologized to me. They said it’s protocol if you’re not white since brown and black tend to be more aggressive. I’m like WTF??

I don't say anything, it's my 2nd amendment right. If he asks or he asks me to get out of the car then yes I'll inform him I have a legal firearm.

I have found that when the time comes to announce that you are armed a good way of doing so is: Sir, out of process courtesy I have a weapon on board and the license to accompany said weapon. When stopped whine carrying professionalism is the safest way.
Hello, I'm just a random German viewer. Guns are mostly banned here. Anyway, my question is: *As a licensed gun owner or carrier in a traffic stop by police officers, are you legally required to declare your registered firearms without the officer asking you for weapons? Or are you able or required to wait until the officer asks about them?* I hope I worded this question correctly. I am pretty stoned at the moment, so I would like apologize in advance if my comment doesnt make any sense.
@@bedeckt The requirement to announce the presence of a weapon, any weapon varies from state to state. Here in the state of Virginia it is not required but as previously mentioned, out of professional courtesy it is recommended to make the declaration. At that point should the officer makes ANY request or declaration the ONLY option is to comply. Bear in mind that people that hold a concealed carry license are fully vetted with a state and get background check as well as fingerprinted. They are not the problem, if anything they help secure the safety of all around them. Problem is with career criminals where the felony charge is reduced and they get to go out and do it all over again.

I just got pulled over for the first time while carrying. I told him I was carrying. He just said he didn't care and respects my right to carry in my state of Washington. Never brought it up again. Cop asked for registration and insurance didn't give me a ticket told me he cared about my well being and to drive safe. And that was it.

I’m in California and informed the cop after getting pulled over for a loud exhaust. The cop asked for additional four squad cars and guns drawn in a ready position. One of the cops is a friend of mine and he apologized. He said they do that to nonwhites since we tend to be more aggressive and causing most of the crimes.
I dont see any reason to tell them you are carrying or if you have a permit to carry unless they ask ..
@@ACommenterOnRUclips When they pull you over they already have it on record that you have a concealed carry permit. So when the cop approaches your vehicle they're going to be nervous. If you reach too fast for something that could very easily get you killed. Letting officer know that you're carrying and where the weapon is located will calm the officers nerves. Which vastly reduces the chance that you'll be shot resulting in your death. Also sometimes cops have a ride along cop in training with them If that amateur cop knows you're carrying and they think you're reaching for something Once again that can get you shot and killed very easily
In Washington your CPL will come up when they run your name and probably also for your tags if the vehicle is registered to you. We plan to move back for half the year as soon as we can, it's still a wonderful state.
What is the point of the conversation? You should have gathered your documents as the cop was walking to your vehicle.
In South Carolina your CCP is linked to your drivers license, so as soon as they run your plates, they know you have a permit.

The best way to do it is say you’re conceal carrying then say you’re reaching for your ID as you move your hand to your back pocket. The police will be really chill and not yell at you, pulling out their duty firearm on you.
Polite, courteous and respectful. Arguing, spouting sovereign citizen nonsense, or telling the cops how to do their job never ends well. Comply, and you will be on your way. Do the opposite, you'll be another entertaining RUclips video about how NOT to deal with cops as you rack up felony charges
