Interesting video 👍 Just bought an Alpina 4 and tried big ears today; it didn't seem to like staying in and required a lot of line pull to get anything decent. Not as easy as my Alpina 3 was, but probably need more time to practice. Just felt like it needed a lot more line and like yours, lots of flapping about.
Because one vario is never enough..
You're never alone with a brace of varios 😁
Did you fix the problem I have the same issue?
@@joaobrito1899 yes I finally manage to get a reply from gerbing it's not a fault they have locked the red level!. Here's how to unlock it We locked the highest heat setting because it reaches high temperatures. You consciously have to unlock it forever. To unlock the highest heat setting, please follow these steps: Turn on your glove until the temperature controller is light in blue. Once the button lights up in blue, press it until it changes to red. The gloves turn off. Turn the gloves on again and you will see the red heat level unlocked.
What an awesome flight!
Good 👍
I’m in Annecy now! Good video 👍🏼
Where is this? Pleasant to watch.
It's here, maps.app.goo.gl/yakaUZtvR6aNUoex9
@@nickcrownshaw Thank you. It was lovely to watch. Must be quite the show up there; floating about. Thank you.
Yes I'm pleased with it, it's a xctracer external with xc guide in the background sending aircraft info to xc track so far so good.
Hi , how do you like the Hugerock ? it's with XCTrack ? external GPS / vario ? thanks !
Yes I'm pleased with it, it's a xctracer external with xc guide in the background sending aircraft info to xc track so far so good.
I would go nuts with that vario setting...
I would have liked comments on the harness 😊 but the glider also has a role 👍
I really like it, it's my fifth pod harness and the best for weight saving and comfort with just the right amount of damping for when it gets rough, but still allows good handling, I've been flying in the French alps and was glad I was using the sock and not my supair strike 2. www.syride.com/en/pilots/Nick-Crow
@@nickcrownshaw I've bought this harness. I will see in spring 😁
@@frenchtigersame here... allthough I've had the pleasure to test it last autum in some bumpy air, and it was actually comfortable. Let's see what the new season brings :)
Can you do a small comparison with strike 2 , pro and cons , ? I have flown delight 2 , strike 1 ,2 and now i am considering the sock...but i like the felling of authority with seat plate ..
Great flight tho!
How is the harness? I'm thinking of switching from open harness to pod and this might be the one ill buy

@@nickcrownshaw Tnx!
@@nickcrownshaw which ones did you already owned? How about the delight 4?
@@SkywalkerPaul the only current ones are the strike 2 and the sock, I've been flying pods for 15 years . I fly lightweight now so haven't flown any of the medium weight harnesses. It does look like a good harness but doesn't pack down as small as the sock
@@nickcrownshaw I see. Tnx! ✌️
how did you get those cool gauges on your video
It's free software for the insta360, but you need the tree remote control for the gps data
I am not a pilot but i did a duo jump 2 weeks later from col de la Forclaz , but never ever reach 8450 ft. Wow ,great vid!!!
Hey, are you happy with your sock?
Yes generally, but just getting it repaired, paid by Air design as it had split where the seat joins the back (pictures on pgf)
@@nickcrownshaw ah yes, I saw that... seems like bad luck
100 ft climb in ten seconds well impressive
Great climb out👍
Thanks, it was fun
Paragliding is the most impressive leisure I have always been interested in. What let's me down is my career. Lovely video!
What?! 🤢
Shoulda called it 'getting out climbed by Pete 😉
Only if he ever got above me, which he didn't 😉
Damn that's a fine looking wing of mine! Your singing voice aint too bad either.
How are you getting on with the strike Nick?
Looks a tad cold my brave friend
Heated gloves essential 🙃
Always nice to get up there for a bit.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Sounded quite windy up there, what Beaufort scale was you working from?
4-5
Tell R2 to shut up
Nice you have more wings than a pigeon loft lol.
If this wing is as good as it seems then the Alpina and Meru will be sold
Is this PHI Scala lightweight (former X-Alps) or full weight Scala?
Yes it is the light, I don't think the full weight has ever gone into production.
@@nickcrownshaw Thanks for the answer. Do you have some insides about full-weight Scala or it is just your assumptions? I'm asking because I'm waiting for it.
@@SergeyProskurnya No sorry, I have no new information
@@nickcrownshaw Have a good flights!
Did well pal 👍
You were clearly thermalling, so thermal rules should take precedence of ridge soaring rules at that point IMHO. The other pilots saw you had a climb and were coming to join you. Yet neither of them practiced good thermal etiquette, which would have been to join your thermal on the downwind side giving you plenty of space to complete your turn to the left. But your decision to stop thermalling by continuing your turn to the left at 0:32 made little sense. It took you closer to the pilot on the Ozone, and may have confused things further by putting you in the path of the Advance wing who was trying to follow your lead in the thermal by initiating a left turn as soon as they had past you. In those light thermals, you are all going to be wanting to fly very flat wide turns. So no one should be turning tight and unpredictably.
Nice camera pal liking it 👍
Wait til it goes 4k, it's only 1080 at the moment RUclips is still processing it.
Nice save pal
Nice save my friend
You did well getting thermal lift from the random geography below for most of that flight. Its a skill and/or a sixth sense just to know what to do.
Hi! Are those the basisrausch graphit gloves? Are they warm enough? And is that an e ink screen running xctrack? Do you like it?
Hi yes they are basisrausch graphit gloves, they are warm enough in summer, here in the UK it is still cold at any decent altitude, so I'm still wearing heated gloves. Yes it's an onyx boox poke 3 it works really well, you can see in my videos how sharp it is even in the brightest sunlight. It is running the latest Beta version of XCTrack
@@nickcrownshaw aah ok. I'm in Germany. Really need warm gloves and thought the basisrausch might be the answer. Do you know of any other warm gloves? Also, I wondered if a colour ebook reader would be better for viewing airspace etc...
@@luketheduke1982 I use Gerbing s7 electric gloves when it is really cold. The colour ebook isn't cheap and a bit too big for my cockpit.
Nice views despite the haze Nick. It really is lovely over the moors near you, I must fly over one day myself. Hope you and Marian are keeping well. Best wishes Jason.
👍rough old day for me anyway lol
Very nice👍
You have some impressive toys!
Get a ladder I will do it for you
One broken slate ridge tiles need re bedding on easy job👍
one missing, 4 cracked and need replacing one the wrong size so needs doing and various ones needing tingles reseating :) five minute job
Nice Solution! Do you have a detailed picture to see where you attached the clips to cockpit?
Hi yes I put them on the paraglidingforum.com page for the strike 2
@@nickcrownshaw Great, thank you
Nice cheeky flight pal liked the little hop over the motorway glider less at the mo roll on next season 👍
Yeah enjoyed that flight not often that you can fly the whole ridge :)
Getting away with it this time of year fella.
What tablet are you using there?
Onyx BOOX poke 3
Need to put in more effort into flying Scotland especially next spring/summer. Hopefully will join you next time you organise a trip ✋.
Nice flight, what tablet vario is that? Thanks
It's not, it is a a onyx boox poke 3 android ebook connected by Bluetooth to a xctracer flarm works really well in all lighting conditions
Nice flight 👍
A wee bit rough my friend well handled as always 👍
