I believe platforms like SmythOS are pivotal in this evolution, enabling teams to orchestrate AI agents that communicate and collaborate seamlessly. By integrating diverse AI capabilities, businesses can tackle complex challenges more effectively. Have you come across any specific examples where AI orchestration has led to significant breakthroughs? I’d love to hear more about the practical applications!

The coding is easy and AI can do it. The function and the logic to do it well are beyond AI and most people, even those who code

Everyone knows how to use a knife and fork. Not everyone knows how to make stainless steel or the machine tools necessary to stamp cutlery out of a blank. It is an iron rule of software engineering that the easier it is for people to use a system, the harder it is to build.

Instead of a programmer, you can become the technically oblivious manager who can't explain what they need, so the programmer / AI makes something substantially different. Cool

Do you realize how terrible that is? Human language is based on interaction and knowledge of events around specific people. Take a simple phrase: I want to go down at the office. How many meanings can that have? Down like down-town? Down like down on somebody (weird take but... is there)? Down like take the elevator down? Knowing the context is super important. A programming knowledge is supposed to be fully descriptive. When you say while (condition) {something} there is 0 ambiguity there. If there is things go bad. That is why programming languages are "complicated". Because you actually need to describe each thing completely, step by step, including context. Languages that are close to human language (see for example sql), literally have exceptions thrown for ambiguity ("ambiguous column x"). So no... not everybody should be a programmer. I am not saying programming languages / tools would not benefit in some places from a bit of AI improvement. I am saying that I would not trust a code generator with things like... lets say we talk about a plane engine. If the task comes like "after takeoff is clear set it ablaze" (yes, stupid thing to say but we people do talk like that). A person would understand that is an expression and will get that it means, start the engine. A machine would have no context of that and would light the engine on fire. And for those that say "well... ofc, you need to teach it that is an expression first". Expressions evolve. Some places have different language formats and dialects because evolution. The reason we have so many programming language is that each does a better job at describing some other parts (one of the reasons at least, but is an important one). Right now we haven't been able to unify current programming languages, or even our languages (how many dialects are in the world?). So... no... if you plan to train an AI to "understand" everybody, you would need everybody to have an unambiguous language. Which is basically saying that everyone needs to learn that language. Which is... kind of what we have now.

Do these people even know what engineering is? From gathering requirements, to risk assessment, to development, system architecture and deployment strategies… the people who build information systems are unique. Don’t reduce what I do down to something anyone can do. Because they can’t. And neither can AI. Not now . Not in the near future. Not in 10 years. Period.

  • @Lunsterful

He's partly right. With AI, everyone can become a programmer via natural language, but that doesn't mean they'll be good at it. If you don't understand what you're asking, how can you make an intelligent request? I'm an AI optimist and I think it's great tech, and it will change programming, but programming always changes.

How about the odds of it surviving is gonna be fifty percent. Cause it's either gonna survive or it's gonna fail. And you have an equal opportunity of both. Seeing is how you don't have any of those metrics to measure whether your company's going to be successful because it's a new technology that doesn't exist. However you have a A new gaming technology that would probably do very well if it did succeed. So im gonna to go with fifty percent. And give whoever's owning this new business the benefit of the doubt. Just know that you would not be succeeding with me in my business.Because you're too negative to be in my building

Now here I am trying to use my graphics card for something other than just displaying the desktop slowly, and nope. No Linux support that is really real. You can download the driver and then gets messy with other installed drivers. If you forget which is installed you need to remember how to check which is installed via CLI. Anyway, installing the driver is very often or almost always a pain in the arse. And then, can blender use the card?, no, can my FEA program use it, no. Can I run python on it, no. WTF did I pay for then? So I give up. Nvidia, you can keep your secret drivers and your secret cards. Have fun.
