how2: Soldering LED Striplights Tutorial
@applelighthouse shows you how2 solder LED strips! The first part shows wires soldered to the striplight, and the second part joins two stripligts together.
Tools required:
- Scissors
- Soldering tin
- Soldering iron/gun
- Soldering paste
- Wire strippers
- Heatshrink tube
Instructions:
Striplight-to-Wire:
0. De-energize the LED striplight.
1. Cut the LED striplight at the appropriate cutting point. Strip the wire about 3mm.
2. Add soldering paste to all surfaces to be soldered - the stripped wires and the striplight copper pads.
3. Pre-tin all surfaces.
3a. Heat the soldering iron/gun and clean with the soldering paste.
3b. Load some tin to the iron/gun.
3c. Touch the loaded tin to all surfaces to be so...

What's the strip light name? First time seeing this type
This type of striplight is typically called a "COB Striplight". It uses COB (chip-on-board) instead of SMD (surface-mounted-diode), so it's able to pack in many more LEDs and achieve the 'dotless' look. It also offers more even light, better heat distribution, and greater flexibility.
