Lake Zurich Building Preservation
Добавлен 16 дек 2017
We are a group in the lake county area that explores abandoned and forgotten places. We only do this to document these places before they are gone. These places are rich in history. We want to show that at one point these places did exist... we will have evidence of places that used to be, for the curious and for the historically interested. We (for the most part) oppose demolition of abandoned buildings because every place, has a story.

Someone made a video on this location going in and it’s demolition but i think they deleted it.
Had just graduated high school little did I know how bad things were going to get.
Where
Do you have any recommendations on visiting this trail if it even still exists? Is it south of the soccer club parking lot or the small area between the soccer club on Old Rand? I can't really figure out much from Street View or satellite view.
Is this place still here, I just started doing urbex
This is Palatine, not Buffalo Grove.
Although I moved out of Illinois almost 20 years ago, I have fond memories of this place... I often used to come here for a well-made burger and a beer or two whenever Brandt's in Palatine was either too crowded, or the wait on take-out orders was going to be too long... I also knew a young woman from the area whom worked here back in the late 80s/early 90s... A shame it closed years later, and then someone did this not long afterward...

Im here to see if they show the K-Cafe or better yet the Kmart deli ham sandwiches ,etc
did you save that bag?
The golden era of retail..
These were the years when Kmart still stood a fighting chance but sadly, they slowly were eliminating the "Blue Light" specials which was one of the main things that brought customers into the stores. Then when they introduced the Martha Stewart line of goods which were high quality but too expensive for what those shopping at stores like Kmart were looking for...sales started to tank. Kmart also failed to compete by converting all stores to the Super Center concept to compete with Walmart & Meijer.
Kmart never left the 90s I swear to god. Last time I went in my local store before it shut down was probably 2016/17 and it felt like being transported to 1998. As cool as that feeling could be that's probably why it ended up closing. It felt like it was frozen in time.
I was born 2 years later in 1992
I was shoe dept manager
My dad used to buy lumber here back in the early 1980s.
I was born in 1974. I remember eating my happy meals at this McDonald's as a kid. I even had several birthday parties here. Such a shame! My family moved north to Richmond in the summer of 86. How time flies.
It's the Ogden Mall in Naperville Illinois they made the old cinema into a costco
Is crazy those people were in those video watching this video on youtube look back what they look like in the 1990.
The Breakrooms - found footage
Over the summer I passed through lake Zurich for the first time in forever. I had to take my son the the Mcdonalds since I worked there long time ago. Since it got changed I decided not to bother going inside.
Charles Quinton elementary is a abandoned school I heard was in killdeer of in lake Zurich have you heard about it?
I was working at Kmart on Exeter Rd in Germantown TN. When this was shot. Man how I miss that place and the other four stores I worked in. All of them are gone now. Makes me wanna 😢.
I worked at Kmart in 1995 in Leesburg Virginia. We had a company trip to Kings Dominion
No sound??
YT copyright strike because of Sony.
Very cool.
I was 10 in 1990, kmart was such a integral part of our lives back then. Kmart, toys r us, venture, radio shack, celebration station, all of these stores from my childhood are disappearing. So sad. I would give anything to go back to 1990 and stay there forever!
I know where that is I’m from LZ and I always pass this house when I’m going places can you currently go inside of the house?
Miss the Kmart diner in the back! My family didn't have a lot of money but they'd take us kids there every once in awhile as they were doing the shopping and we enjoyed it so much! Sure miss those days! Thanks for posting, Lake Zurich!
I turned 18 that year I so miss those days and Kmart time's were so much simpler .
What was your favorite department?: Food Court, Toys, Music, or Electronics?
OH MAN! Bitd when Kmart sold everything from instruments to guns. I could just smell the popcorn and hot dogs as you guys walked in!!
Thanks for posting!!😀
This is a time capsule. Was hoping to see the toy aisle. LOL
Was working at Kmart in Germantown TN on the date these were taken. The best memories of my life are of working there. Co-workers were like family. Man, I miss those stores.
Then dumb Walmart ruined it
It was about the people experience ... now nobody knows if they are female or male ; sorry not good times anymore!
Some of my earliest memories of going to K-mart are from 1990-1991 when I was only ages 5-6. I still loved going to K-mart up until recently because they never really remodeled their stores, and it always reminded me of my childhood. Sadly, most all K-marts near us are gone now. :( This video made me smile from beginning to end and took me back to much better times. Thank you so much for taking this great footage and sharing it with the world!
I was a child living in a different state and city at that time.
I use to have 3 or so local or semi local kmarts in my area now the nearest one is an hour and a half away.
Walmart Sucks!!! Cheap !Sell Out!!!!
This Kmart was located at 1199 E. Ogden Ave. It closed in 2013.
Sad day for those of us that shopped there. I miss this store and Sears...so many gone now. 😢
All of these people look like they are enjoying being in the moment. Everyone seemed to talk to everyone, even complete strangers would greet, smile, strike up a conversation, or even just laugh with them. Everyone was social. It seems like a completely different world pre-2000s. People today are the complete opposite. Strangers rarely talk to each other. Everyone is in their own world. They just want to go out, get what they need, and come back home without talking to anyone.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who notices this. I grew up in the 90's, and people were definitely more friendly and social for the most part. And the part you mention about people just getting their stuff and going is so true. It's why you hardly ever see anyone actually eat inside a fast food restaurant anymore. Instead, they just grab their food and go. Sadly, it's also why a lot of people are doing online shopping instead of going to malls or the store, because that way they can just get their stuff quickly without actually having to socialize. I really wish I could go back in time to when people actually gave more of a damn about one another and just enjoyed life more. :(
This video was taped before the internet and smart phones. If you wanted information in 1990, you actually had to talk to people face to face.
I was 14 years old when this was made. Wonderful times.
0:30 is that a delorian
so when did this one close?
2013 sad day.
Looks like not much has changed at Kmart stores since this video
