Absolutely brilliant. As a Scot myself, Stewart Lee is my favourite Scottish comic. This routine never gets old. Wish I was in the audience.

I grew up with Jaques Cousteau who did 100+ times for conservation what Steve Irwin ever did. Cousteau said he thought Irwin was an idiot because he didn't just look and document the animal but felt he needed to touch the animal and pick it up. Whether you think he was an idiot or not (I do), he would probably be alive today if he didn't have that instinct. Stingrays are not naturally aggressive particularly against people. But boundaries are important as Irwin and Timothy Treadwell found to their detriment. Treadwell was killed by a grizzly bear because he didn't understand boundaries. The same for Irwin from a stingray. Cousteau lived to an old age and died in his bed. Some lessons there for those willing to listen and learn.

That has to be perhaps the best comedy ever. Just worry about Stuart Lee. Brilliant way of just doing it. Hope he stays cool. Far to brilliant to be injured and depressed by lesser, much lesser comedic talent. Original and brilliant.

Incredible to watch the barely controlled glee on his face as he realises he's getting away with it, combined with the utter attention to timing and tone needed to ensure he continues to get away with it.

The Scots clearly do have a sense of self deprecation. I never knew that despite living there for several years! I love the way the audience laughs when he says he's "Scotch"

This suicidal tightrope act relies on Lee being totally and utterly committed and everyone in Glasgow being ace.

It gets me there are always a few obviously disgruntled audience members. These people paid for a ticket to see Stewart Lee do his stand up routine,what did they expect to hear - The Gettysburg address? or the haunting echoes of Blue Whales maybe? or perhaps the tik tik tik of their own empty cynical heartbeat as it creeps inevitably toward the barren hellscape of oblivion . . . ?

Stewart Lee is the best stand up ever. You can tell that's what the big fat Scottish bloke with the beard and glasses is thinking throughout this whole thing. That's why he looks furious and keeps uncomfortably shifting in his seat. A response brought on by a combination of deep respect, jealousy, diabetes, deep fried battered fake valium, brawn, and an average life expectancy of 64.
