Ford Ranger Flatbed Build

Just a quick slide show of my DIY Flatbed build. The original box on this pickup was falling apart and rusted out which was a good excuse to tackle this project. New flatbed bolts on and can be easily removed if needed.

2001 Honda 750 Ace Bobber Build walk around (slide show at the end)
Просмотров 7 тыс.5 лет назад
A friend and I decided to do a budget bobber build. Did the whole bike for just about $300, and about one week of sweat equity. Hope you enjoy the video I’m sorry it’s a little bit long but I wanted to get as much detail in as I could. Pictures of the build are at the end. I also go over some of the jetting with the carburetor, which was probably the biggest hurdle in this project. In the end t...

DIY ice fishing hole sleeves using a 5 gallon bucket for $5 instead of paying $20 for the Catch Cover sleeves.... I think I’ll take the 5 gallon bucket.

That's a good little ripper
Nice. Just picked up an old pop-up that I need to convert into a floor level shop/shed and winter fish house. Your design is simple and great. Like you I gusset everything... 😊
Think mine was missing a gusset at the axel. Caused it to twist like you mentioned. Almost left me stranded on the highway last week. Thanks for the tip.
I like how those legs open and vlosed together. How did you nake itlike that?
Where did you get the bunks
I built them, no plans.
Do they lock when down or bounce around when towing
They don’t lock, but stay down nice
Look like the ones I saw on Amazon
Can you add the Amazon link for everything you bought for this to the description????
How big is your catch cover
Hey I'm just wondering. Do you have the plans for it?
Negative, just winged it.
I have 6hp Johnson on my 10ft Lowe and I hit 20mph
You explained everything perfect. Thanks for this video
that thing runs perfect , makes you wonder why they rate them for 3.5 i believe ?... 7.5 seems to work great lol
This helps me to fix the current problem I'm having with my seized up swivel arms. (or whatever their called) Thank you. The axles didn't get greased so they don't drop down easily, I'm probably going to take them apart to service 'em
Do you need a hammer drill like you would a regular auger?
I wouldn’t think so. You could probably just use a regular drill. No problem.
@@McGowanOutdoors just bought one today and only have the m18 hammer drill. It doesn’t work for the 8” eskimo I have so figured I’d ask! We’ll see forsure tomorrow morning
Check out the 4" RAZR Scout® - You won't have a complaint and it comes with a 5 Year Warranty, with replaceable blades! Nice Video!!
They cut like a dream.. you just can’t measure with them… and if I’m going to go through all the effort of cutting a 4in hole and using a tape measure, I might as well just use my 8in and be able to fish out of it too.
@@McGowanOutdoors that’s a solid point, the main benefit is the 4” is not beating up on your drill or your battery with such little effort needed to drill a hole. Appreciate you!
Can you go back out there tomorrow to see? For me on the east sideb
That would be awesome if you could you don’t have to I was just wondering
Was out there last night… around 12in on the west end… I’m guessing more on the east.
There was over 40 shacks on the lake… your good to go
I have one and, after using last year, considered it to be a waste of money until watching this. But its too late for mine as it's already bent and the numbers have scraped off. I really liked the concept, but have no intention on spending more money on replacement.
I agree like the idea but worthless when i scout with gamin live 7 inch ducer
Any other vids of the skid pro tree shear in action? Your video here is literally the only one out there apart from the manufacturer making one for sales.
Lakes around Rush that are small and Frozen are pelican Bay on otter tail lake Long lake went by pickerel lake on 52 was froze over
Locked up? A lake in jail. Crazy
Froze up, for the non-icefishing people….
What degree did you put your axles at?
Level
@@McGowanOutdoors any issues with wheels flexing in when under a load? No tire wear either?
@@scottgrossinger4779 no, seams to track and wear well. Over 3,000miles on it so far
@@McGowanOutdoors awesome thanks for the info.
me with my 40 lb thrust trolling motor
Looking to relocate my speedo as well. Did you have to modify the wiring at all?
No, just had to drill the hole for the reset button.
@@McGowanOutdoors great, thank you!
I did the same with the buckets. I bought some door seem foam insulation strips and put that on the bottom of the lip of the bucket to help with the seal. Seems to work well.
This is really cool man you did an excellent job building this!
Thank you
Great video. Would you install a solar panel? How long does the 12volt system last on a battery charge?
Typically, I run my generator most of the time.. but I have fished about 8hr on battery alone.
Do you have the lengths of the tubing you used for the drop axle parts?
This is really nice build! A little to late for me this year but will try to build one like yours next year. Thanks for sharing.
As the saying goes buy once cry once. The whole sleeves fit tight I love them. Then pair that with the clear plastic cover so you won't drop anything down hole
Very nice. Dimensions and how much do you think you have into it?
6.5 x 14ft with 3ft V, cost me about $3500 to build. I have another video on my channel that goes through the build.
Nice! You need to do more ice house videos!
What trim did you use for steel siding? Did you use back to back J-channel on side and front of V nose? Also corner trim looks smaller than anything I have been able to find.
Correct, back to back J channel. With caulking in between
Love this build. Saving in the event I ever get to build my own wheelhouse. Murphy style fold up bunks are a must.
Any additional footage of the tree shear and getting closer to the ground to cut flush? Considering this exact model and your vid is the only one other than the manufacturers.
I can try to get some on the next job. If the soil is soft and the tree is smaller you can push it in to the ground a bit and cut flush easily… if the tree is bigger you usually end up with 1-2in of stump left
How did you secure the plywood floor to the metal frame?
It’s glued and screwed down. Also around the edge of the frame I welded on short pieces of all-thread every 3ft. Then the floor and exterior walls were bolted down as well
@@McGowanOutdoors thanks man, looks great.
One more Q. Did you use construction adhesive for the glue? Or some form of loctite.
I just used regular construction adhesive
What handlebars are those?

can you do a video one how you build the beds
I talk about them more in my other video
Can you show us your power housing?

Cool later im gonna built one
Nice man..I have a 2003 ACE I kinda wana Bob it out a bit...great video man learned lots...and great looking bike man👍
How much did this cost you?
About $800… steel ain’t cheap anymore. Last year I could have built it for probably $350.. lol
Jacob McGowan holy wah, dude I just bought a 2000 ranger with a wood bed but I want to replace it. Was hoping it’d be cheaper.
Curious. I just bought same setup, but motor is in shop replacing water pump. 1973 merc 7.5. Does it make a difference trimming motor up? Mine has a "troll" lever that pulls down a thingy that the motor rests on effectively trimming It up a bit. Do you use that, or just let it sit all the way down? Also, I broke the linkage that pulls the fingers down that lock the motor in place when you switch to reverse. It was sticking, and not allowing me to get into reverse. Does yours have that, and if so, does it give you problems? Thanks.
I had to go to the second hole up from bottom to get it to plane well.. you’ll just have to play with it in different spots. My reverse fingers work good on this one.
Currently doing this to my 02 750 ace, only mines hardtail
any info on the roof? how it's built and keeping it waterproof. thanks. awesome job
What are the dimensions of the shack?
6.5x14ft, +3ft v front
Your Son looks just like you!! Awesome video, a family that plays together stays together.
Very nice! Efficient use of space and looks fantastic!
Ruined a nice bike... now it’s ugly and worth nothing
Made money when I sold it.. so I think it worked out alright
