I’m late, but I was born on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. As a white kid who loved African American gospel music, I would listen to the music from Black churches. It was such a joy when I could get my dad to take me to one of the churches just up the road from Tilghman Is., Maryland. Local radio stations played their music and I recorded it on a reel to reel machine. Great memories.

Helping in the garden, sitting on the porch with family and friends stringing and breaking green beans, picking black berries for mom to make jelly, and hopefully a cobbler! Hearing dad and mom praying before bed ( for us 9 kids),getting the wood in on the porch for heater, and church was as important as food, and living right! The good days!
